Dungeons on my behalf
Guildwars 2 stated that there is no need to grind, there isn’t! Having these speed run dungeon in the game will inflate the economy. Where you can’t afford your armor set because the people who does have more free time will just keep increasing the cost for weapons/armors because those are the one that are able to afford it and keep it up. (I’m not a big statistic guy when it comes to the economy so you’re free to fixed me if I’m wrong. I like other people opinions.)
I barely understand this statement, but it sounds incorrect.
If anything, it will decrease the price. If someone has a full set of exotic armor, it becomes less likely that they will buy other armors. When there is a smaller demand for exotic armor, the price will drop and make exotic armor more affordable for other users. In addition, if the availability of dungeon armor increased, more users would attempt to get them, meaning more dungeon runs and more populated dungeons.
This increased popularity of dungeons would not last forever, though. After collecting every style of armor, there would be less incentive to run it again. Personally, I think that this would not be a problem, assuming that Anet will deliver with new dungeons and content by this period.
I hate the alternative, which is where nothing changes and we’re forced to do repetitive content as some rite of passage into MMO fame, aka nobody really caring what you’re dressed like in-game.
Thank you, for your opinion sometime I actually feel the same. I really don’t care how many shinies the other way the guy have. But its just reflect bad on the community with the consistent bashing. And the price decreasing, I was actually thinking it might. will decrease the prices due to reduced amount of exotics needed to gear oneself.
I didn’t need to grind one super difficult dungeon over and over to get an elite set in GW1, and I’ve never heard any complaints about it there.

Maybe not, but to get the FoW set you needed a whole lot of ectos, and those were either expensive or time-consuming to get. Likewise with the Tormented weapons. As the devs have stated, a lot of the same whining was being done about DoA (and presumably UW) back in the day, before people worked out builds that were able to get the job done. And even then, you needed a decent, if not high, amount of skill to get those runs done swiftly.
The difference between DoA and GW2’s dungeons is that the balance of builds and skill has shifted towards skill. And my guess is that those complaining about the changes want it to be an easy ‘run this and do that’ formula. I want to headdesk every time someone says ‘it costs me money to run a dungeon now’, because that means you’re not doing it right. You only lose money if you need to repair (or use consumables, but those are pretty cheap from the TP). And you only need to repair if you are defeated. Solution: get better and stop dying! Suddenly dungeons are full profit!
Anet’s philosophy, as I understand it, is that you shouldn’t be forced to grind through content you don’t want to do. While exotics are expensive, there are many different ways to earn them. And full rares should be enough to get through most if not all content anyway, there’s not a massive difference in stats between the two.
We could always go back to the “Your BiS item drops from this one boss at the end of this one raid and if you don’t get it you’ll have to wait a week to try again. Also you’re rolling against 3 other people, even though it has a 15% chance to drop.”
I agree with the OP. I understand people’s grievances regarding the change, but the perspective is all wrong. You’re still in the mindset of you should be at endgame faster. But…what’s the point? The grind is there so you don’t feel like it’s easy to obtain. I’ve farmed numerous old raids in WoW for transmog gear and it took months to get whole sets I wanted. It also took months on end to get BiS stuff because of lockouts and competition.
Honestly, GW2 gave you an out. Here’s a fairly easy concept: You’ll be able to get really good gear a lot faster than most MMOs, but if you so choose, you can spend a good amount of time getting awesome looking stuff that is pretty much the same as the gear you had a month ago.
People need to like the game for what it is, not what it isn’t. Anyone who says the dungeons are a grind is LOOKING for a grind to do.
The problem herein lies with a lack of understanding. No one is telling anyone here to do 10 dungeons a day, you’re deciding to because you want that gear before everyone and as soon as possible. Why? So you can say you were the first in CoF gear? So you can look like everyone else?
I choose to spread out my dungeons, and it proves an overall enjoyment. I haven’t gotten to that farming mentality – if/when I do, I won’t complain like a little schoolgirl that it’s a grind. Everyone should have known going in what it would have been – to say you didn’t or claim otherwise is complete and utter ignorance.

Ok that’s fine, I’ll just stop getting killed in three or four hits by the “trash” mobs in my full defence/healing setup as an elementalist. Thanks for the advice!
Who cares about “prestige”? I thought this game was about having fun, not about “OOOOOOOH look at that guy, he so special that he do dungeon 70 times. He SOOOOOOOO Pro and l33t!”

You’re sarcastic, but I never said it would be a simple change. Dungeons were never intended to be easy etc etc. Figure out what you can do to keep from getting hit, consider changing utilities/major traits to fit the situation, flipping between attunements in your case, it all requires skill and knowledge of your class and build.
Last I checked, you had a downed state you can get pulled up from fairly quickly as well. I’m sure at least one other person in the party has a way to keep the mobs controlled while the others get you up. You do communicate with your party, I hope?

To some people, such as myself, the ‘challenge’ in getting that shiny armor is fun. Likewise with everything else in the game, perhaps most especially sPvP where more shiny armor is pretty much the entire point!
It’s all about doing what you enjoy most, whether that be difficult dungeons or large scale events. And each method has its own rewards you can’t get otherwise (although I would argue that WvW needs a better-looking set for badges since the ‘primary’ reward is available to everyone on the server regardless of participation, but that’s for another forum).
And for those that like everything, Legendaries!
