We beat them back to the boss, beat the boss with a new team on us.
We beat the boss’s engineers.
We got the dialog for the next boss.

Cannot defeat with infinite spawning grenadier guards.

When are these things supposed to stop?
Are they?
Because its impossible to run back to the boss without dieing to the grenadier guards that keep spawning.

So if the boss knocks you into the lava you’re now 4manning the rest of the dungeon and if you happen to be able to 4 man that boss, you have to rescue the guy laying dead at the waypoint and battle your way back through them to get to the next one.

Is this a bug? Otherwise I’d question the design decision made in PBAoE damage and the health of these repeating trash mobs that are like mini boss fights because you’re constantly reviving someone who lacked the endurance to roll out of the machine guns of grenades these guys are.

PBAoE and AoE is kinda making trash mobs into epic long battles that likely down 4-5 players before 1 of them dies. Speaking of these grenadier guards of course.

Not Infinite, 12 waves is what I’ve heard.

Also, try out the tactic of killing off all but 1 grenadier on the first wave. Leave 1 player to kite the grenadier, while the other 4 go up to the boss to kill it. This way new waves of grenadiers wont spawn.

Also its not a bug because Anet put an area where the grenadiers hit to despawn.

Some guy just said 15 waves.

Why are there 15 waves of these beasts between me and 2 chests?

Tedious content does not make for fun.

Their PBAoE and AoE and health all need a reality check because these guys are not fun.

Tried it again with holding 1 off but after we finished the pylons and got to the boss we were down a man, got him into the guy who controls gravity fight. Someone falls in lava, they are stuck. These waves were coming constantly.

Well, its unfortunate that Anet had to put these grenadiers there. But, they arent that bad once you figure out a way to beat them and it works;) Not sure why it didnt work for you.

Also Anet added this feature to stop “Speed runs” of the specific path. This path was abused by Token farmers.

Why doesn’t the person in the lava just die to it, waypoint, then run back? (and also, try to stand perpendicular to the boss if possible, such that punts send you forwards or backwards instead of sideways into lava.)

He couldn’t run back because between him and us were spawning mobs.

Waves of these guys and they didn’t stop!

You can just run past them, they’re unlikely to change target from the guy that’s been holding them there. Running through them is easy.

Trigger them, wp to the entrance, alt tab for ~10 minutes. Grats, you bypassed the grenadiers.
