For anybody intimidated by dungeons...
I’m a filthy elistist and I approve this message. When I do speed run i don’t want to bring ppl that don’t run a good build or are not experienced, but I happy to help new players when they need it.
I’m happy for you, that open a good new portion of the game for you. Best part is that you figure that out by yourself. We talk about that and advice that for the last 2 years here on the forum and ppl still complain about dungeon and elitist.
Can we sticky this? Pretty please?
Thanks for sharing. We try to tell people this every day, glad you had a good experience :-)
Now go back and try to run some of the other dungeons! They’re pretty fun, and saying you’re new in the LFG post will attract a lot of helpful, patient players.
Finally someone who realized you can make your own group and be succesful. Kudos for you OP and sticky the first post.
Been playing since beta and didn’t do dungeons until earlier this year because of all I heard about toxic elitists. Then a friend I brought into the game wanted to do dungeons dragged me into doing them. Dungeon community turns out to be very nice and helpful. Now I’ve ran dungeons many hundreds of times. Wish I started sooner.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
This brought tears to my eyes.
There is still hope it seems, OP, you are Luke Skywalker!
I want to hug you. #nohomo
I want to hug you. #nohomo
We all know the truth :P
@OP: I love you. I will link this everytime someone complains about the zerker meta.
This is perfect.
Seeing people like the OP really brings back my faith in the gw2 players!
I commend you and may the favor of RNGesus always shine upon your drops!
This is what the LFG tool is all about, letting everyone live in harmony.
as a side note, what kitten actually told you that you had to have exotics as a minimum requirement to do Arah story mode, or any dungeon for that matter.
Knights of ARES, Dragonbrand
Good times, good memories
OP, big thanks from all the filthy zerker dudes out there!
Give this man/woman a medal!
And a sticky
-salutes-
The system works.
Glad it worked for you!
I’ve been having quite some trouble getting groups going. I only have a Necro (not interested in the other classes cause they all bore me, plus i dislike having alts), so usually a few people join, we wait to have a full group, nothing happens and everyone disbands.
I don’t bother with Dungeons anymore.
You can still join other’s groups too.
I always see many “all welcome” when I look at the LFG. Those usually have people who are new to dungeons and more often than not they also have 1 or 2 players who know the dungeon and will be happy to help you.
Also watch these if you’re scared of not knowing what to do.

You’ll still feel lost the first time, especially if you’re with people who know what to do, but knowing what to expect makes a huge difference. At least it did for me.
I still watch them sometime because I’m still very new to dungeons compared to the people I often play with.
I did all my dungeons and just want to do some old school no frills dungeoneering. I would love to just run it with no skipping mobs or stacking and test myself and my abilities as a player. I detest the meta and Zerker play, as its stale and boring and so efficient, there isn’t a challenge anymore. I want to go back to actually using every skill and mechanic and no LoS or wall abuse or stacking/AI abuse yet no one is going to do it as they are either not confident enough or want the money at end ASAP.
It might be a better teaching method than “just sit here hit 1” most players tell the new people that are new to dungeons these days. That doesn’t teach you your class and what it can fully do! Not in the slightest!
I’m not intimidated with dungeons as much as just not willing to do them the current way of thinking anymore. I did them all the old way, the res rushing way aka the pre-waypoint functionality changes where you now can’t way point back if whole party is in combat, and the current “Meta” way of stacking and AI abuse.
I prefer the way we handled them when we first encountered them: learning to take each foe on and learning every in and out prioritizing foes and such.
That’s when you go solo or duo.
Yumiko, I’m not sure what that has to do with this thread, but I’m still waiting for the info on your anti-meta guild ;-)
Did you make a post in the guild forum yet? I’m more than willing to refer similar-minded players to your PHIW guild — I think it would really help cut down on the stacking-QQ on this forum if we could help those players find others with similar interests.
oh you!
I was scared of pvp, then i played some, now i play pvp to boost my morale.
Great read! And big kudos to you for taking the time to hop on the forums and post about it.
I was having a different experience last night with caudecous manor.
I put a party up saying please teach me this dungeon. A couple of times the lfg tool erased the post as it was ignored. I joined a party and said I don’t know this path but I have my mesmer reflects and they say no problem. We wipe on the rockets and everyone leaves. I then put up p3 all welcome and one person joins. After a while he changed p3 all welcome to just p3 and the party fills up. I say again that I don’t know this path and one person leaves. I eventually did all 3 paths but getting a group was hard work whilst avoiding the sellers.
I was initially encouraged by this post for doing dungeons I don’t know, but I must mix with different people.
“avoiding the sellers”?
How hard is it not to click on “selling path [whatever]”? Is that actually hard work?
lol, I thought the same about the sellers xD I seriously don’t understand why some people get so offended at the mere existence of dungeon sellers.
And yep, it can still be tough to get a party going certain times of day. Between people leaving the game out of boredom and those who stay being so sick of these dungeons that they won’t touch them, there aren’t as many players around as there used to be. The longer ArenaNet lets this content languish, the harder it’s going to get, unfortunately.
Good on ya for trying. Keep at it, and be sure to check out the [noob] guild if you’re still having trouble finding a group:

Even though I usually advocate the “toxic elitism” here on the forums, this time I’m feeling the other way. I mean, you at least did the job to learn most important things about the dungeon, like presence of projectiles and built your character according to that. That alone is much much more than most casuals (including those joining “exp” parties) do.
If I may recommend you something, next time just join any party and do the dungeon with them. CM can be a bit messy at times, but you should be fine following the rest of the group and helping them killing things. Eventually you get to learn where specifically can your class be helpful (e.g. where to pop up time warp, mass invis or portal,…) but for now doing damage and reflecting should be just fine – as I said, still better than most people do nowadays.

Next time I see this kittened argument I’ll.. I’ll.. r-rrhhh.. rhhh… ughhhn… I think I might have a seizure going on.
Someone sedate me before I do something stupid like pugging with my pigbow…
The PHIW in me is thrashing at the walls of my mind! Halp! Plz!
I’ll join that guild too, if it’s no problem. As soon as I get out of the asylum… Rest of the thread is awesome, by the way. If I had a heart, it’d be warm right now.
