Last patch Anet increased the amount of gold we get for opening fractal encryptions. Right now you would be making a profit when you open them (tested yesterday with 30 keys and made about 12 gold, then again small test pool so i can’t tell if i’ve gotten lucky or unlucky). Seeing how these boxes are buyable from the tp, won’t this mean that the price of these boxes will increase up to a point where it will not be worth opening them anymore? To me this seems like an oversight or they want to completely take away any liquid gold sources. Then again I do recommend everyone just buying encryptions while its worth it. U are probably gonna make at least a few gold every day for just 30 fractal relics a day.

It seems logical that the boxes will rise in price on the TP to an equilibrium point slightly less than the perceived value of a encryption key + the average return from the boxes. If they increased past that point, people will stop buying them and undercutting will take place.

I gained exactly 408 gold from 900 boxes yesterday (Just counting the sellable junk items) which is around 45 silver liquid currency per box. If you buy keys for 20s and the boxes for 17s (Current price) you’re only looking at around 8s per box. To me that sounds about right, considering you’re limited to 30 keys per day at that price.

Past that, the increasing cost of keys likely disincentivizes the mass opening of boxes from the TP, which is fine as most regular players will be only be getting ~30 boxes per day from the dailies.

700 encryptions opened for me. It’s around 25-26 Silvers of profit per encryptions if you buy keys at 20 silvers a piece.

Meaning you are left with 25-26 silver per encryptions after the price of the key and after the TP taxe after you sold everything.

Why would that be an oversight? People who want to open them will open them for the chance to get bonus stuff like asc chests, weapon skins, etc. People who can’t be kitten d with buying keys will sell them on the TP for slightly less than their average worth.

It doesn’t make any difference in terms of liquid gold rewards…

I opened about 200 encryptions and the proffit per was about 25-30s solid cash.

But I got no cat golem. Did anyone else get any after patch? Or are they super insanely rare now?

I don’t know if you noticed, but there is two kind of keyes to buy from a vendor. The second one has a bonus crfting materials you can get, and i found myself earning about 4 gold profit per 20 opened boxes. You should try it.

I got 3 with 700 encryptions.

Uhh no. They are a great source of liquid gold. Free daily keys are pure liquid gold similar to how dungeons were. Plus straight up buying keys at the 20-25 price point is profit. It’s to your advantage to open as many boxes as possible now.

I got 23 golems with about 5k encryptions, no aetherized skins /tear
But overall, pretty good profit. Though how nice it would’ve been to have a small chance at getting T6 mats n lodestones.

Also, pretty sure you can’t get ascended chests or even rings from encryptions.

Rings do drop from encryptions, I’ve gotten several.
