Fractal Weapon Ticket
FREE PYRO
In my ideal world, fractal weapons should drop at 30+, and when you drop one you dont want, you can take it to mystic forge with something like 250 frac relics, 5 pristine and 1 shard, for a chance at a different frac weapon (guarenteed different, but not which one it is).
There as well for me, with the difference they should drop at 40+
I would be happy if we could get rid of the artificial time gate for those dedicated players. Who have been trying for 5 months for a particular skin… Not saying any names >_>
Basically allow us to get the daily chest again if we decide to run say 30+ (40+?) again. So then maybe if I run FOTM48.. say.. 6 hrs a day I might actually get the skin I want. This gives players some incentive to run 30+ (40+?) whether its for skins or pristine relics.
Personally not a fan of RNG+ time gate… Although I’ve gotten just about every other skin then the one i actually want. Just my 2c.
I wouldn’t mind spending 50-100 Pristine Relics for a Fractals Weapon Ticket.
I’m so sick of getting Harpoon and Spear…
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Basically, its a recipe that requires:
- 20 Pristine Relics
- 2000 Relics
- 3-5 Cores of Mist Essence (Have it drop from 40+, or 50+ if added, and also by combining 5 Shards of Mist Essence)
- Ectos
This way, the token cost isn’t insane, but it still requires some work be put into each skin. Also, the requirement for Cores at higher levels is a way to make this an easier/faster goal for those who play fractals at high levels, rewarding the extra work put into the harder and longer runs.
In addition, it partially retroactively rewards those who have already been running fractals for an extended period and stockpiling their Shards, and makes it possible for players who want to stay on the lower levels to put in drastically more work and more time, and be rewarded for doing so.
this is more balanced actually
I could agree even if 4 skins for 1 of your choice is still easier.
Also i don t like the ectoplasm idea.
As said fotm players don t have much money because they run fractals :|
Gold should not be involved in fotm skins at least
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
3 weapons plus an identifier for the weapon you want is best. Proves you were either lucky, or grinded out your first 10 weapons and exchanged them for your favorites. The probability of getting the weapom you want from a single 48 run is 20%/12 (1.6%). If they did anything to change this percent you would upset all of the people that put in the effort to get the weapons. Yes, it’s a grind, but it’s for a weapon skim. If you don’t have time or interest, then find another skin you can get more easily. You do not need it to play the game.
Getting three weapons takes a bit of effort, but has a pretty low probability as well. The 3 weapon combination maintains that same probability of getting the weapon you want but allows you to get atleast one you like (eventually). It also provides people with greater motivation to climb to level 48.
Regular relics, ectos, and pristine relics are too easy to get in large quantities, especially as low level runs are very quick and reward a pristine after level 10.
If they did anything to change this percent you would upset all of the people that put in the effort to get the weapons.
See, I keep seeing this argument, and I’ve said before why it’s bad. Letting something remain broken because some people did it the broken way is not a good argument.
It was the same argument people brought up when they fixed Survivor and LDoA in GW1. Those two titles were BROKEN, and unnecessarily hard to get (especially LDoA). But some people went out of their way to get them the hard way.. Good for them, but that does nothing to change the fact that those titles used to be broken. Them jumping through hoops and doing insane bullkitten for a title doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be changed…
Right now Fractal weapons hold no prestige or “aw, that guy must be good” feeling to them, because it could be someone grinding out lvl 20’s and being lucky, whereas a guy that does 48 every day could be left in the cold.
Implement a fair system with a ticket that only drops at 40+ or 50+ even for all I care (like 33% chance you get one at 50+), so Fractal weapons keep their prestige, but lose their RNG bullkitten tag.
“People wanting content where Berserker sucks should remember that it needs be so hard
that they will cry, not just a river, but a huge ocean.” – Wethospu
“Fair” is a relative term, I think the word you are looking for is “easier”. Some people may get lucky in the 20s and 30s and get weapons, but the drop percentage is still low. A 20% drop chance at 48 is not bad, and after 15 dailies you would likely have 3 weapons. Now exchanging the three you earned for one you want is a “fair” trade that will still result in a good amount of effort. A ticket would work too, but the drop rate will have to be lower than the current 20%.
I’m not saying this because I have dozens of weapons, I have 4 (2 sta kitten and 2 maces), only one of which has come from a 48 run. I think the difficult to get weapons should remain, but after you get a few weapons you should be able to get one you actually want.
If they would give us tickets at 50+ i would actually start doing fractals again…
I’m all for tickets instead of random weapons, but if they make the weapons easier to get in general, I doubt I’ll play fractals ever again. The fact that they are obscenely time-consuming to get is a major reason why I love them so much.

Because u have the one u want and nobody else should have it?
Because u have the one u want and nobody else should have it?
No, because it means that when I get the one I want, it shows off the dedication I’m willing to put forth to get something I really want. There’s a level of prestige associated with that which I personally crave. And for the record, no, I don’t yet have the last ones I want.

It was dawned on me 1 day that all the skins I got are from easy levels while at 40s I got nothing.
I think as the situation is now it should not be changed much.
Many people farmed fotm to get their skin in spite of a terrible RNG.
They gave up the chance of precursors and stuff with terrible loot.
Now if they change it any cof farmer in few days could get what fotm farmers have struggled to get…
Not much fair…..
They could just make a recipe like 4 random fotm skins = 1 ticket.
That could go.
People like me stopped going for their legendary because market manipulators and nerf to drops kept happening. I had/have everything but half the t6 mats and the precursor. That means I’m still over 1000g away.
I then went to FotM to try for a skin. After countless runs and countless wasted hours and still not the skin I was going for. Well over a hundred runs later and I’m still no closer to getting my skin now over when I started doing FotM. I had nothing else to do but to bitterly leave this game. If there was some common sense solution made to FotM skins, I’d probably still be playing.

I bought a scratch and win ticket every day of my life for 20 years. I never won anything big. The day I get 200 dollars from a ticket, “it’ll show off the dedication I’m willing to put forth to get something I really want. There’s a level of prestige associated with that which I personally crave.”
There is NO prestige in it despite what you may believe. If you have a skin, I, and everybody else, will look at you and think, “Lucky terd got the skin I was going for but was lucky enough to get it without even trying. I’ve done more runs than anybody on this server and still don’t have that skin. Lucky noob.” I guess if you think that’s prestige then go ahead and keep telling yourself there’s prestige in the skin.

Firstly, your analogy is flawed because $200 from a scratcher and $200 from my last paycheck look exactly the same to everyone. No one can see the difference. Secondly, prestige is a subjective quality of an object; I learned awhile back that what’s prestigious to one person may be meaningless to another, but what really matters is what is prestigious to the player who is seeking it. I wear my GWAMM title on every character in GW2 because that title is very prestigious to me, and nothing in GW2 holds a candle to the dedication it took me in GW1 to achieve it. Similarly, I wear my fractal weapon skins with pride because I know how much work I put into it, and I know what they mean to me. I love every time someone asks me “How many runs did it take to get those weapons?” and I respond with “Too many. ”
I love every time someone asks me “How many runs did it take to get those weapons?” and I respond with “Too many. ”
Sounds like you’re happy to finally have the skin but, if you could, you’d go back in time and undo all those hours and get the farm in for 2 legendaries. I know if I took all the time I spent in fractals and put it into cof p1 farm or the farm zones in cs, I’d have at least 2 extra legendaries by now.
http://www.youtube.com/user/randomfightfan/videos?view=0&flow=grid
I don’t like any of the legendaries, and really, I don’t enjoy any of the content you have to do to get them. Mystic forge, farming gold, farming T6, and so forth don’t interest me at all. The fractal weapon skins are perfect for me and players like me who enjoy tough content and are willing to deal with otherwise abysmal rewards just for the mere chance at getting a really cool skin.

Which prestige? That you got lucky on ur first 20 run?
The current system is flawed and everybody knows it, theres no point argueing about it. It doesnt feel rewarding at all.
There is no prestige in fractal skins. Players who have soloed content have done something far more prestigious than grinding fotm 48 every single day and have nothing to show for it in game.

I’m still waiting for them to mail me a legendary.

Sounds like you like fractals. That’s fine, but defending the junk rewards and saying winning the lottery is prestigious just doesn’t make sense. If you want difficult content though, go solo a dungeon.

The only rewards dungeon soloers get is a generic message like this.
“I would like to congratulate you for your achievements as it shows your commitment with the game.”
That’s what I got at least. The one thing that really made me lose faith in this game wasn’t when I got crap rewards for soloing dungeon but when I got 3 exotics an hour when I mindlessly farmed southsun with mf gear. This game is broken at times.

-3rd fact is that in last 3 month lvl 48 daily my gf had 15% fractal skins drop\daily while i had 8% fractal skins drop\daily.
That means RNG of this game grants a random 2x chance to drop skins to someone while it gives 1/2x chance to drop skins to someone else.
There’s no way an opinion can beat math,
No, it shows that RNG is 11.5% chance for a skin. The conclusion you’re trying to draw from it is quite different, and invalid.
as much as id love a ticket (i still want a fractal shield, pistol, rifle, scepter, focus, staff*2 and dagger*2)… i wouldnt like to see this implemented… the randomness adds an extra layer of prestige
- i was lucky enough to get my hammer (which is awesome) on one of my first 20+ runs…. also got a trident at some point… but meh
- farming 20-28 on two character each day for the skins i want

Wholeheartedly and fully agree! PRNG is always a great addition because it adds a layer of unexpectedness.

I would be totally on board with a token system, as it is now after 600+ fractal runs a lot of which were 48’s I almost never get a skin out of them. When I do get a skin most of the time they’re useless to me (Still don’t have a skin that I actually want).
The people who have no problem with the system either have good luck and have the skins they want or are a masochist. There is no prestige in RNG.
That being said I would have no problem with the drop rate of a ticket being the same as the weapon drop rate is now. But at least you would get something you want after waiting a month for any skin..

fractal run = 4X fractal
Its impossible you have run 600+ few players like me got to 300 playin almost only fractal……
I think any dev would confirm that no player has run 600+ fractal dailies.
Do you play 6 hours fractal dailies since launch?
hard to believe.
But you can post your 600 pristines to prove me wrong.
Lets say you just run 1/4 that is 150 fractals
With lvl 48 rates you should have about 20 at least by now….and you say you never got a single skin.
At 48 droprates are quite high between 15 to 24% still debating on that.
But saying 0/150 is not a problem of rng…..its just hard to believe.
You posted this twice and i was not the only to say you are wrong.

There is no prestige in fractal skins. Players who have soloed content have done something far more prestigious than grinding fotm 48 every single day and have nothing to show for it in game. What you’re calling prestige, I see that as a player who has tunnel vision and enjoys self harm, running the same thing every single day without ever having the assurance of getting what he truly wants (pure RNG). Even legendaries are more accessible because at the very least the grind can get you enough gold to buy a precursor, while you could run fractals for a WHOLE year and not get the ONE weapon you want simply because it’s rng and you could get a lot of skin but they could all be warhorns and spearguns. So prestigious! So much commitment.. uh, no one cares.
I care, and as far as what I personally enjoy about both the game and what my character looks like, that’s the only person who matters. I don’t need your reassurance to enjoy the work I’ve put in for the items I have, be those items from RNG or otherwise. Furthermore, your personal vision of “self-harm” is your own; I enjoy fractals, and I enjoy the content, and I am willing to play the content a lot to get the items I want. Regardless of if I get them on the first or the four-hundredth run, I’ll get them “eventually”, and I’d play the content regardless. I appreciate your opinion, and respect that you seem particularly incensed by the current implementation of fractals and their rewards, but that’s just it, that’s you, not me. I think they’re prestigious, and they show, if nothing else, dedication to Fractals, something I have in spades.
I got a Fractal Shield the one and only time I ran level 20.
I got a Fractal Shield the one and only time I ran level 20.
Omg, that’s so prestigious! I mean, someone with a Fractal weapon obviously spent time and dedication in high level fractals and is a good player…
Oh wait..

None taken, that was my point.
I am a decent player, I have earned probably 60-70 Pristine Relics so far (though most of those were in a very short period of time when I had friends that liked to run Fractals) but if I am the best player in your group you will have some serious problems with anything over Level 18.
And I have a Fractal Shield.
And lots of people who are better players and have spent more time in Fractals not only don’t have a useful Fractal Weapon but they don’t have any. The system is screwed and I wouldn’t feel any different about my blind luck if the system was changed to give people a FAIR chance at the skin they want.
Note FAIR not easier. Though I guess when you go from an absurd broken system to a fair one you are making ti easier by definition. I don’t think they should increase the drop rate or anything.

Guess what, I got my skin on my first run too. What a prestigious trident skin I have.

Prestige is in the eye of the beholder. If you think of your own acquisition of the item as a farce, then it will be and you won’t care about it. I couldn’t give a puppy what anyone else thinks when they see them.
If the reward doesn’t match the difficulty, then we have a problem, not only in game but also in real life. For example, if A is getting the reward in lower difficulty setting while the others getting the same reward with much more efforts in higher difficulty setting, then A will get the stigma. A can justify whatever he wants to, but the stigma is there. The worst part is he’s also aware of that stigma.
The fault is never lying with A. The fault is the system creating that rewarding scheme.
I suggest we abandon ship, if we can’t affect the change.

Look as soon as they do somthing about fractals you will get weapons over weapons cause you get a weapon or ring as far as my experience goes everytime you do daily 70+… so just wait still agony hardcap is away / or you can do them again and all will have those weapons no uniquness than anyway. They could give a Special reward for hitting lvl 100 or so if they ever increase the lvl’s beyond 80…

Who would you say is more prestigious, the guy that worked his kitten off, started his own company and became a millionaire through hard work, or the guy that won the lottery?
except thats an inexact parral… wow my spelling sucks; because to ‘win the lottery’ (aka; get a skin), they still need to have put in the same effort as the person who ‘became a millionaire through hard work’ (aka; get to frac20+)

I wouldn’t call someone that does frac20+ a hard worker… I could get to lvl20 in about 5-6 hours if I wanted and spammed lvl19 often enough. It’s just that I would want to poke out my eyes after like 5 unevens… That’s how I got my warrior to lvl20+ as well, just spammed 9 or 19, because no one does <20 dailies in our guild anymore..
As for the bad parallel: yes, it wasn’t ideal, but look at it this way:
You’ve got two normal guys. Both work a day job and work hard hoping to make it in life. Then you have 1 lazy stoner who flips burgers.
Every week, all three of them enter a contest to win money. The hard working guys have a slightly higher chance to win than the stoner, but they work a little bit higher for it too.
One day, both the stoner and one of the hard working guys wins. Who is most admirable? The guy that didn’t win, the stoner, or the hard working guy that did win?
None of them, because it was all based on stupid luck.

just get rid of possible ring drops after 30 and replace those drop chances with skins as they now are.
Before release, during beta, they ran this PR campaign about their wonderful system of rewards via tokens. EVEERYONE gets rewarded equally for their efforts, unlike THAT game that had RNG drops and you’d come out emptyhanded.
They showed explorables, people preordered many boxes. And then by the end of beta they introduced the Mystic Forge, and after release they pulled off their bait and switch on the rewards system. Everything outside explorables became RNG, currency like karma was never used meaningfully.
Of course, they say this later summer they are revamping their rewards. Which probably means they’re making the RNG less crappy now that they’ve sucked all this RL money exchange for gem>gold conversion out of people for quite a few months.
Remember, every item in this game that is not a fractal skin or explorable dungeon skin is obtained by farming gold. And ridiculous gold farms make them a lot of money on the gem store.
This game is economy first, gameplay second.

Oh I thought the common one was the focus, I got more of those than there are focus wielding classes. Still don’t have one I want.
Just once I’d like to see a suggestion that makes rewards suck less not get drowned in a tide of “kitten you, got mine”. Just once.
Rewards should suck less. The rewards for Fractals should be better. We should earn more gold, get more cores, get more rares, and have better chances for exotic items at high levels. Fractals can be a painful and very difficult experience, and it should reward better than simple dungeons. That said, the only thing I don’t want is for Fractal weapon skins to become easier to get. They should be a challenge to acquire, and where they are now is “good” for me. If someone gets 1 Fractal skin of their choice at L50 per character guaranteed, I think that is a feat worthy of a Fractal skin, but dailies of 20 and 30 and even 40 shouldn’t be raining Fractal skins down from the sky upon players. These skins should never be available to purchase with gold, or karma, or any currency. I love that not everyone has all of the skins, not even me; I’m still hunting for a few even nowadays after so many runs. That gives me something to work towards, something to strive towards. It gives me an excuse to run Fractals and enjoy myself even though all of the other rewards are abysmal when I could be farming CoE/CoF for more gold/hour. I don’t mind the idea of a Fractal skin ticket, but I think if they go that route, I’d like to see the tickets removed from L20 and L30 dailies entirely, and only be obtainable from 40 and up, with a guaranteed one at 50 whenever they release higher levels.

I’d be 100% fine with having good rewards at 50 and higher only IF 50 was actually unlocked and do-able. Since 48 is the highest available level atm, and has been the highest available level for months, it should have a way to work towards the skin you want. Even if token TYPES were made (like this token is for 2h weapons, this one for 1h weapons, each with ranged or melee categories), it would significantly balance out the rng hate while maintaining your illusion of prestige with the skins. I personally think type of system would be dumb and there should just be a flat 1 token for 1 skin trade since my class (I have 7 80’s but only use thief) can only use 1h weapons. On top of 2h weapons being useless for me, I’d need 2 1h melee tokens if I wanted dual dagger or s/d or anything. With the system as it is, I’ve done 130 runs (that’s 130 pristines, they were unlocked after I got to 38), almost all at 38 or 48, and I have yet to get a skin I wanted. I have a few I use but none I wanted.

would be a good idea if weapons were traded for X p relics and Y relics, or 4 fractal weapons = 1 weapon ticket, or level 48 daily always has a chance of dropping a fractal weapon, whether it was daily or not, seems fair compared to how hard it is, I’m still not level 48, 28 atm, but seems pretty hard, especially dredge
