Great runs today (#puglyfe). Did most of my runs that went smoothly and often had an ele that actually stacked might and fury or a mesmer reflecting projectiles when needed. I really just need to add more people on my friends list instead of still relying on RNG for a good team. I now kind of indiscriminately kick players under 1k ap for CoE though. I had a bit way too many cases where I was disappointed in how often they were wiped. :|

Oh. That reminds me. Yesterday I did a LFG for CM with the apt discription of “p3 speed run, lv80s/be experienced pls” and this one player didn’t know why I linked Shadow Refuge, then revealed themselves by going early, then after I volunteered to run it again, they again revealed themselves. Then s/he started calling me out on “not everyone knows what that means” and I was kind of like “but it said be experienced and speed run”… At least they left willingly without me having to kick though.

I’d like to ask those with more experience using necromancers a question.

Today I was told that the popular rune of strength would be the rune of choice for necromancers in coordinated dungeon groups.
Now I wonder why? When I asked I was told that was because they usually have 25 stacks might up in their groups. That part was pretty obvious, being an organized group and all, but I still don’t get the choice in runes.
Wouldn’t scholar for a necromancer still be the better choice if they can keep above the 90% health threshold?
I can understand the rune of strength for might stacking elementalists or phalanxwarriors. Or anyone who provides a lot of might in general.
But as little as I know about necromancers, they are usually not those providing might. So I’m a little confused. Would anyone please enlighten me as to why the rune of strength would be the better choice compared to scholar for a necromancer in an organized group?

Scholar still rules for Necromancers. At least in organized groups. The Necro cannot creat might for other only for themselves. That being said, If you have an ELe or phalanx warrior giving you might ( or more acurately you are leeching it) Scholar will riegn and you will do big white numbers with red spots behind them.

The Strength rune thing comes from the idea of you not having anyone giving you might, “pugs”
Its a Nemisis thing. In his original creation of the “glass cannon necromancer” he used a combination of runes for power and might duration. Your internal might coming from Blood is Power, and a traited life blast to grant might on hit. (30, 10, 0, 0, 30 )

tl;dr

Scholar is good! in organised groups. Solo play and such, Strength might be the way to go. much like many other classes.

Yeah strength runes are fairly decent in solo/pug situations if you cant stay above 90% hp. But thats only because necro can generate a decent amount of selfish might. In groups scholar is always better. As far as i can tell scholar is also better solo, but if you have trouble staying above 90% then strength is a very strong alternative to increase your might uptime from BiP.

Personal satisfaction yesterday. In the past I tried soloing several explorable dungeons, always failing. Yesterday, I wanted to try solo again but after 2 deaths on Kholer, I gave up and tried AC story instead, for the first time.

I was surprised on how easy it was. I only had some issues in killing Vassar and I ended up ranging him while Eir, Garm and Rytlock tanked him. Happily I killed him fast enough because those npcs drop like flies. The only real negative point was I gave the slots to my guildies and they didn’t listen to me asking to not step in in the final fight and they came to “help me” kill the boss. -_-’ I already soloed him several times in the past when the rest group was wiped, so I didn’t bother much.

It’s not big, but I like it and wanted to share it.

It seems Nemesis was hacked and lost his necro, that thread was an appeal by one of his fanboys to restore his account.

Yeah I just watched the video. While I do feel sorry for him because I would hate that to happen to me. I cant help but feel like justice has been served. Also he started claiming he was more important than other people at the end of the video. That certainly reduced my sympathy for his situation.

Yeah. Zero sympathy from me. I see someone trying to get into my email account I stop it immediately. It is HIS fault. It would suck to be hacked. But honestly if you can’t be f’ed to take security precautions you have no one to blame but yourself.

Thanks to everyone for their answers to my little strength rune conundrum.
I was aware of the traited life blast and blood is power. But since said necro specifically emphasized that it was about an organized group that always stacks (25) might (and asked – politely, I should add – if someone would relog so that we had an elementalist and a warrior in the setup), I presumed they would usually have 1-2 elementalists and/or a phalanx warrior.
And in that setup I simply couldn’t see why strength instead of scholar for the necromancer.
I’ll try to point it out to her. Maybe save her the expense of buying those rather expensive runes.

I always have strength runes on my warrior for a casual run when no ones but me happily becomes a banner bi—-.

So, last night I forgot that I had swapped out Phalanx Strength to try out the pure GS build. The pug ele didn’t do a single might stacking rotation during all the run. So while everyone complained about how dry they felt without might, I was all mad and yelling, pinging my victorious 25 stacks of Might. It was awkward to find out I didn’t have Phalanx Strength equipped during first half of the run, hue hue hue…

Short story:

One fine day last month (or before last month, IDR) I decided to pug CoF P1 and P2 as a thief. This warrior (let’s call him Scrub, because he was one) joined the party through LFG for P2, and it went pretty fine until we got to the bombs part. I had thought that it would be fine with 4 people and so I parked myself at the magmacyte, but little did I expect that one of them would go AFK, leaving just 3 people to get all the bombs to Magg.

Boom.
The room blew up.

Guess who Scrub blamed first. Yep, me, the thief. Scrub actually told me something along the lines of “i can solo this part” “dont try to be a hero” and some other stuff I don’t really recall clearly, but basically he kept trying to stick the blame to me when all I did was sit at the magmacyte. The whole party left and reformed because Magg bugged out when the room blew up. Same party, but Scrub failed to join the LFG and so a different warrior came in. I did the exact same thing and had a smooth run.

You know what makes me sad? Scrub was my fellow citizen (or a Malaysian perhaps), his account name and the way he spoke gave it away. Welp.

Moral of the story:
I eat sweet potatoes.
(Guan will get it, go pester him for the meaning)

Query: would more PuGs QQ if in PvE, mobs applied all sorts of conditions and CCs regularly?

Yes. When that time comes, I’ll be feeding off their QQs as usual.

I’m genuinely confused as to why this guy has more subscribers on YouTube than DeKeyz, Brazil and Nike combined. Not that it matters in the slightest, but he sounds boring as all hell and his builds (from what I’ve gathered) are sub par for PvE. Maybe someone who knows more about MMOs than me could enlighten me.

BTW, how do all you cool kids get those signatures? I’m kinda slow when it comes to figuring things out technically on the forums. (I just say that I’m a hardware guy and hope that I don’t come off looking clueless)
