General Dungeon Discussion Thread - Part 1
Heeeey, we’ll be able to recolor the blue doritos.
Lemme guess, we’ll need “WvW Transmutation Charges” to do it.

lel.
Well, it looks like you can change it on the go.
I need a Sitrep.
Do we need to prepare our eyes from the “boss too hard” threads or are they improving? On another note…
It looks like we are getting the Nodachi(GS) from Belinda and a blade from the Delaqua’s family.
I will admit, I enjoyed the last battle in this mid season finale immensely. But I’ve already met prople ingame saying “How can they do this? This is impossible!”.
you may keep them to rear new and interesting variants in your basement.
New feature pack for September announced.
Week 1: PvP/WvW
Week 2: pooooosssssssibly new content / polish on old content? Might be something we care about in there. But who’s holding their breath?
Week 3: Looser item bindings?
This is just going to be more nerfs, more L.S. bull crap, more PvP crap, color changing Doritos, more PvP crap. They’ve forgotten about dungeons. Period. The only reason that we got John Smith and Grouch in here is because someone outside of this subforum convinced them to come in. We honestly need to eliminate our expectations, accept the ANet colonoscopy and just enjoy what we’ve got, because let’s face it:
We’re not getting anything else.

Oh my.
I love you. But this response is… I just can’t even.
It’s so depressed. So defeated. So pessimistic it hurts my core.
I don’t think we should all be optimistic about dungeons becuase sure, there has been a lack of attention. But I mean, we’ve seen things change recently. We’ve seen bug fixes, dredge fix, fractal changes, boss changes, and whether you like the changes or not… it’s attention. To say that we do not have any hope… wow. We have hope. I am sure more things will change, slowly, and I bet they will include things we hate like lupi not being reflectable and other nonsense, but it might also include things we really love.
Don’t take a nerf to a single class that you enjoy as the end of tyria as we know it. Nobody in their right mind can say warrior was well balanced with other classes in pve. Anet is doing what they feel is right, and whether they’re right or wrong, to go into it with that attitude WILL BE a self fulfilling prophecy.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
ANet balances around group content. Warrior was balanced for group content. The fact that people dispute this blows my mind. Maybe more people will try condition soloing now though.

Well okay. But the videos and proof of warrior supremacy solo, it’s entirely possible that anet chose not to balance around group content in regard to warrior this time. They’re humans not robots, their algorithms can be altered.

I don’t want to add more fuel to the pessimism train, but anyone else reading the posts claiming PVP is being neglected? Most of every balance patch being for them, and $100k+ tournament coming up being neglect? Imagine if they were willing to funnel that kind of attention into more dungeon paths…I mean how awesome could that Rytlock story have been if they had that final story become a full dungeon path as AC4.
I understand why you think that my dear. I really do. It truly feels like that however. This is my first MMO, and my first PC game, as I have said many times, and I’ve come into it bright-eyed and bushy tailed. I don’t have the weight of WoW on my shoulders, literally nothing but decades playing Final Fantasy to compare it to. I thought it was awesome. I really did. I got yelled at at times, I got kicked, I got scammed, everything. It didn’t really affect me because I didn’t know what was going on. I’m a fairly intelligent man with a degree in criminal psychology, so I was sort-of equipped to deal with the kittens that we see on the internet, so it didn’t bother me that much, or when it did, I got over it.
Then I started getting INTO the game. Started really running dungeons and Arah. Came into this forum. Learned so much from all the crazy people here. Studied vids, read boards, did some theory crafting (kept it to myself), got pretty decent at the game.
Then the crit damage nerf came for no reason at all. Then we were ignored. How long was that thread that you posted about dungeon bugs? 4-5 pages? I don’t remember. Nothing. Miku (the purple one) posted a similar thing in the bugs forum. It got ignored. Brazil (I think it was Brazil) made a youtube vid of all the exploits in arah (I think it was arah) and sent it to them. Nothing. The slaying potion change was one of the big things that started making me mad. They didn’t do anything until something affected their living story. Then fractal reset (that didn’t affect me as much, but I know it really hurt a lot of my friends on here). They STILL haven’t fixed ranger auto attack. A dev posted in the sPvP forums about ANet’s balancing thought process.
skill changes between game type(WvW, PvE, and PvP) can be hard to understand and cause confusion to some players.
As a mock example, Lets say you play PvE with your awesome build that gives you 5 seconds of fury when you use a skill and your build relies on it being 5 seconds. However, we split that specific skill only in PvP and you go play and realize only after playing a few engagements that it only gives 3 seconds of fury. Then you go to WvW and realize that the skill is back to 5 seconds of Fury.
*How does that player feel?
*What questions is that player going to ask?
- Is this a bug?
- Why is it only different in PvP?
*Who is going to answer those questions?
*Are they going to try and seek out someone to answer these questions?
*Is the person they (if they do ask) going to know the actual reason for this change?
*Is that player going to stop playing PvP or GW2 all together?
The simplest change can have a huge effect on a player in any game, and when you start splitting skills and causing inconsistencies on top of balancing multiple game modes it can get a bit crazy for players to keep up.
Anet truly thinks we have the collective intelligence of a 6 year old and are too lazy to balance 3 game modes separately (which they did in GW1 I am led to believe).
They don’t care about anything other than L.S. and PvP.
They don’t have a dungeon team.
They actively try to make classes weaker and weaker.
They balance around PvP no matter how it may affect other game modes.
Yeah, I am miffed about the warrior nerfs, solely because they didn’t make sense. Nerf 100b? Ok… fine. Whatever. Nerf whirlwind attack? Ok, fine. Whatever. We’ll deal. Buff arcing slice at the same time? This just means that they’re actively trying to get people to move away from efficient dungeon running. It just does.
Have I lost hope? Yeah. I think that it’s reasonable for me, someone who really cares about our little dungeon community, for me to have lost hope.
Will I stop playing? Nah. I like teaching too much, and hanging out w/ you guys, and I still have 1 big goal that I’m working towards.

While I’ll agree with you I am hesitant to egg on the stupid infighting we certainly have between wvw and pvp and pve, since all have some serious problems which need attention. I agree that the 100k would be better improving the game as a whole. Use that to hire an artist to fix the armor weight discrepancies to get rid of restrictions. Use it to hire a few forum communicators. Use it to pay some or one developer to improve pve AI. There’s a lot they could do with that money.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?

It’s hardly warrior supremacy, most people either just can’t be bothered or don’t want to play their eles. And herein lies the problem – we don’t know what anet are balancing around. GS is like non existent in PvP and nerfing the damage of two skills doesn’t make it more viable, and warrior is an average dps offensive support class in group pve content. There is no precedent of anet balancing around solo efficiency and they haven’t even elaborated as far as I’m aware if the GS changes are for pve or PvP. Precedent would say PvP, but who knows.

2 things. Look at the majority of posters. They act like 6 year olds. I don’t blame anet for believing that.
I agree that it is semi reasonable for a person in your position to lose hope. But as a person in my position which is similar to your position except for a longer forum presence I can say that it is extremely hard for me to ignore the changes and improvements that have happened since the feature patch. Because of just how long it took for them to do a simple thing, like the arah boat JP. and then the dredge revamp.
4 months ago or more, I was very much like you after Chris Whiteside shot down all conversations about the fractal reset. It gets better. It has been getting better.

Yeah that’s why I posted it here instead of in response to those posts. Really no point to fight about it but just… ugh.
The only thing that’s worse than ANet not caring about us is that people don’t mind that ANet isn’t caring at all.
So many people simply do not care about gamebreaking bugs etc., I even had someone go “so what if the aoe indicators aren’t precise? We’re finally getting colored doritos” today… and that isn’t even the worst I saw.
My dearest Lilith, I understand where you’re coming from. I have, however, just come to the place in this game where all expectations of raising the bar in terms of gameplay and customer service are totally and completely gone. That way, anything that does change for the positive will be a wondrous surprise and all the incoming nerfs will just be par for the course.
This doesn’t mean that I won’t continue to enjoy the game, or keep teaching, or keep striving to be a better solo player, teammate, or guildee. It just means that I don’t hope that the game will get better. I have gotten far more than my money’s worth from the game and will continue to enjoy it.
I’ve just given up hope that the developers will do things to make me care again. That is all.

It’s like politics. If congress introduces a higher minimum wage but the Supreme Court upholds the defense of marriage act, there will be people who care far more about what they’re getting (minimum wage) than what they’re losing (right to marry whoever). That’s how it is you know? Even if we think it’s stupid to care about one and not the other, people are people.and they’re six years old.

A) I can make it without stealth…most of the time. Not my fault I don’t play on easy-mode (aka warrior).
B) Don’t need to be able to make the skip anymore :P
C) blahblahblah
Off topic: I need some Ivan time in Arah. Been working on off wall lupi and need some tips/pointers/comments/criticisms/background singers.

I’m pretty sure like every class besides ranger and necro has it easy for that last skip if you come properly prepared.

Here is your reasoning and the lack of dps meters.

Its faceroll on a ranger.
Necro has to blow a 180 second cooldown skill.
How come people always wrongly think it’s hard to skip on a ranger?
Guiiiiise, bow is BAD for skips!
But bear is gud

Both death shroud traits will give you 3s stability on 7s cooldown. if you need more about 4s stability by putting 6 in death magic. More than enough to easily skip
Probably need to purposefully get in combat to proc some energy sigils though

Oooooo… thanks for this info!! Will help me when I teach necros how to skip that last run!!
Well, we could ask questions here. Maybe they’ll respond, since it’s not their main forum.
Am I the only one that doesn’t care about talking to/being listened by anet? I’m just playing with my friends and keeping an eye on new games coming out. They lost my loyalty and they’ll never get it back unless they do something for me that isn’t wardrobe related.

NP, another tip is to bring Well of power for emergency stunbreak. It has 1s stability so if you get caught by technicians w/o stab DS on cd, you have time to Plague after you break the stun to escape.

Personally speaking, they never really had mine, I always viewed this game as a crossover till EQNext comes out. They started to get me, lots of things are pretty cool about this game, but Megaservers basically killed any chance of that. So I’m in the same situation but kinda started there too.
My last game drove home the fact that no game really gives a kitten about their customers, we’re just walking/talking wallets. But hey, I can have fun in their game, and with the big swap to microtransactions for games they’re cheaper than ever. If they want to stop caring about quality then I get to pay less, so I guess there is a silver lining.
I do believe many of the developers care, many treat the game like their precious creation. But it’s the people above them delegating what gets their time that really just screw us all over.

Good tips. You can also blind with well of darkness so deadeyes miss you. I guessed traiting DS would work but never tested it because the last time i did p2 on necro without a thief was before the feature patch. lel
Even so necro is probably the hardest class to do the skip on. Simply because of how slow you are and you are pretty much guaranteed to be put in combat and forced to use cooldowns etc.

No argument here, necro is Hardmode when pugging/solo’ing.

Yep. But it’s still so much fun to play.

Eh, it’s pretty par for the course that a game company doesn’t listen to it’s players. This most recent update though, between that terrible detective instance (3 times, really?) and the super bugged crafting I am getting pretty fed up; It probably doesn’t help that 99.9% of the people I played with are now gone. They have pretty much lost my loyalty too. I still have my makeover makeover time, but I am running out of things to dress up.
Some friends recently sent me a game time card to go back and fool around in a certain other game and I am so totally lost without dodge roll. Pandas and cow-people are close enough to Charr right?
I am going to be the filthiest casual
I gave up,after 2 years I gave up.
Played gw1 for 7 years and never got bored,eotn expansion came with 18 dungeons,18 18 dungeons,18 dungeons,2 years of gw2 and nothing,just nothing.
After 2 years the only feeling I have about gw2 is they want my money badly, such a shame.and don’t tell me its 2 different games, they do have a connection, otherwise hom wouldn’t have been introduced.
Rng just terrible,no unique dungeonskins, its all gemstore.
How to ruin a game.

Highest possible HP (non exploitz) is 61389,2. Full Vit Warrior under Rampage wielding a conjured Earth Shield, under +10% WvW buff. Can get hier however if you boost your power.

Complaining is exploiting.
I’m upset that dungeons are being cleared faster in a way that I don’t want to play. Because of my choices I feel like I’m at a disadvantage and the game should be changed to suit me and to punish the people who adapt to get faster runs than me.
