PS. They really need to put back the steady weapons to pvp so people can test properly. >_>
PvP uses lvl 78 exotics. Phantasms use lvl 80 exotics. Not sure about pets and minions.
I’m aware of that but steady weapons would make things a lot easier since the had fixed dmg scale so it was very obvious to see any differences when testing stuff like this.

Based on my 10 minute pony spam session against indestructible golems I’m 90% certain that they’ve put the 10s recharge on FS.
Without amulet, sigils, runes, and traits my auto attack on SB ranged from 123 to 136 and when frost spirit procced (usually off CD ) I got about 140-146 ticks at the same intervals as i got the effect from other spirits which we know to have 10 second recharge.
And on LB 2 and axe offhand 5 I only got one proc per cast.

without traits:
10% damage increase in 30% of cases would be a 3% damage increase overall (okay).
with traits:
10% damage increase in 70% of cases would be a 7% damage increase overall (pretty good).
Lets assume you get in 1 attack every second and the internal cooldown is 10 seconds. Then one out of ten attacks gets the boost of 10%. That’s about 1% damage increase (crap)
This also means you not need to trait it to get the same damage. Even if it activates more than twice as often, this will not matter since it has an interal CD of 10 seconds.
tl;dr:
if you can maintain more than 1 stack of vulnerability on a target, you are more useful than the frost spirit aura. Traiting increased proc chance for spirits is useless for Frost Spirit.
Just tested in mists, only 1 hit of multi-hit attacks was increased with frosty. Requesting someone else to test whether non-multi-hit attacks are gaining the damage bonus more than once per 10s, the numbers I’m getting atm are too varied to tell and I’m low on time.
Wow, and I thought I was crazy when I tested it yesterday with whirling defense. I simply thought it only triggers once on multi-hit skills, but wow.

I plan on getting my ele to lvl 80 today/tomorrow (currently level 71) so that way i can enjoy a weekend of fiery exploit sword before it gets nerfed

Close to 3k hours on my ranger now and right when we get a glimpse of hope with the new feature patch they slap this to our faces. Sure this change might have been there for quite some time but it’s close to impossible to notice it everyday use.

0.7% x 5 people = 3.5%. Next, get everyone to pull out a minipet to increase entity count and you get 0.7% x 10 = a staggering 7% increase!

Don’t become overly childish or they simply ignore you. Not if they care about the dungeon community but don’t make the situation worse you know.
Apart from the inaccurate tooltip, any idea why this change is good or neccessary? It’s just another PvE oriented nerf for one of thel less desired classes and has 0 effect on PvP.

Someone is arguing that damage multipliers are added together, not multiplied. I tried to correct him. In return I got a classy link to a proof that “1 + 1 = 2” and then got told that I’m wrong and should “Go divide yourself by 0”.

The change was simply to put it in line with the tooltip. I don’t see this ever being changed back for the sake of class diversity in dungeons. They don’t care about that and won’t until we see necro actually being useful lol.

Your mistake was actually trying to argue on leddit. Let me put it VERY nicely (otherwise you’d see multiple kitten in a row), a lot of people there are idiots.
So I went ahead and did some in-game tests on the Frost Spirit. 500 x fireball (ele staff aa, non-crits only) without spirit, with untraited spirit, and then with traited spirit.
35% – 0.64% dps boost
70% – 0.86% dps boost
I believe the numbers may be slightly inflated since I had to pause for like 10 sec every 60 sec to let the ranger to re-summon the spirit, which pretty much gave the spirit ICD to reset letting me proc it faster every summon.
Either way, its more or less a 10x nerf on the spirit so yeah… rangers g.g.
