Why would you use stability when you can dodge just before the knockback and you will only get slightly pushed

Why not just fight by the door so you don’t have to worry about dodging the push back?

I actually do the same thing as Trice, fight by the chopper and pop Balanced Stanced before the zerk-push. I suppose it is a DPS loss, but leaves zero room for error (unless you proc the wrong skill… :-P). After aggroing the drake a couple times I just started using that beautiful 8s stability…

And to answer my own questions, once I can be bothered to get some stealth consumables on my warrior, I’ll probably start fighting by the door.

BTW, does anyone know a way get to the door without stealth? I mean, I could just run it, but then I’d expect that the abom stays aggro’d…

Just go towards the wall (on the side where the drakes are) and walk along the rocks to the door.

I need to start doing drunk dungeons. Are there any standard drinking rules people have come up with? Downed = drink, death = shot?

I usually just drink anytime I realize I’m still playing GW2…

I did pass out on the way to Jade Maw once while playing a FotM down=shot drinking game when I first started running (it was already at the end of a long drunken tour). Then I didn’t log in for a week, and my guild welcomed me back in chat with “DLONIE!!! WE THOUGHT WE KILLED YOU!!”.

True story. Such drinking games are rough when you’re a bad.

Yeah that sounds about how the last time I did this kind of thing ended, wasn’t GW2, but gist of the story, I was doing a raid, then I woke up with my head on my bed and the rest of me on the floor Good times

Need something to spice up the Dungeon tours though.

I haven’t done really drunk dungeons in this game, just slightly drunk. I have had many a night of drunk raiding in other games, so much inappropriate voice chat.

I have done dungeons on hardcore post-op painkillers, but it’s not the same; maybe I should harass people into doing drunk dungeons with me.

I only did higher level fractals while drunk pre-fractured. I honestly can’t remember a single 40+ while sober before that time.
And I remember the best counter to the lvl 43 instability being my whisky cabinet.

I also (vaguely) remember various “let’s do [annoying/difficult] achievement”-runs in another mmorpg while drunk. Interestingly enough they nearly always went smoothly.
Must have had something to do with me maining a dwarf back then I guess.

HAHA yeah painkillers and surgery… I remember those times, or more I don’t. “You were hilarious yesterday” “wait, I logged in yesterday?”.

In one of my old guilds the tanks Ready Up call for the start of a fight was the cracking of beer cans, just hear like 6 of them open in teamspeak and then the fight starts a few seconds later. It was an accepted rule, if you’re not drinking, you’re not tanking right.

No, I wanted to say that they neglect necromancers. I really hope that necromancers are up next because they need a lot of love.

I play guardian, beside Bane signet and Save yourselves, I have no other useful utilities for this fight, so I just put SyG to make the fight less annoying. I guess I could use something to keep better fire uptime on him but I rather use stability.

You could take retreat just in case you miss something and lose your aegis, or purging flames and blast your focus 5 inside it for might and to maintain burn uptime for the damage modifier.

The whole point of aegis is to maintain unscathed contender.

SYG is a handy stun breaker to have, too. I still miss jumps on occasion. Also handy if you don’t get the stability up in time and get knocked back. But I do love retreat and Purging Flames in my other slots for that one.

I finally managed to solo TA fwd too ^_^
The first time I tried, I was stuck on Leurent, got a party and killed him;
This time I was stuck on the Knight next to Leurent; got a party, killed the Knight and solo’d Leurent, yay!

The trash before leurent are the hardest part for non ele solos. Ele can just fgs all 3 + leurent and then continue to solo leurent. :P

My problem was that the Knight reset like 8 times at like 10-15% hp which drove me nuts. It took me long enough to try to kill them 1 by 1 without having them all reset at once AND Leurent re-aggroing at the same time.

I can’t believe that I actually considered Leurent one of my hardest encounters before and now after I finally managed to get through him, he seems so easy. :c

Yeah they are a pain. You can always cheese them with a certain consumable though.

Guildie recorded a video, but the quality appears very low on YouTube, plus he started recording a bit after I went in. Took me very long but I was afraid to play offensively, I pretty much ranged him with melee weapons xD

The video setting is usually at 360p, but the viewer can choose to look at it in 720p, which is just fine.

First time i solo’d it i did with axe, sword and gs and just perma crippled him. But its actually better to go mace, sword + gs. It allows you to block almost every attack and counterblow does decent damage. Also gives you some cc. You still have to kite a bit, but once you get his patterns down you can stay closer pretty consistantly and maintain some damage.

That may be death if you PVP, I’d settle on like a lost match = shot or something Well, unless you’re a lot better than me, but for me that’s 2-3 shots a match

To be honest. I’d rather watch golf than watch that tournament. I feel so bad about that. Because I love pve tourneys. But I just… I can’t do it.

I always like to think of the Guild wars general discussion section as the casual discussion section.

Here we have in its natural habitat, a roaming PHIW player. He has been playing how he wants since the beta years and now he has come to the forums to settle down for the night. He has created a thread within which to nest, crafted meticulously from scraps of bear fur and bow strings that he has gathered from the dungeons he has managed to stay in without being kicked. The recent summer months have been harsh on the PHIW player, with the lack of real life events taking place he must take to the lfg to form a party and sully his spare time. The PHIW player does not wish to hurry, however mother nature is a fickle beast and many a hardcore will answer the call with a swift kick to the buttocks of the PHIW before he even enters the dungeon. To deal with this harsh reality, the PHIW forms many layers of defence in its proverbial coat. One such defence mechanism is the claim that dead dps is no dps. This has generally not been particularly effective when combating people with logic and reasoning but it does bode well for the self deluded. Much like a pigeon playing chess, the PHIW will knock over the pieces and crap on the board before returning to voice communications to croon of his victories to his flock.

This needs to be a documentary series narrated by David Attenborough or Morgan Freeman.
