Not really, it would have helped to be more speciffic. WvW, EotM and the Labyrinth are also in the core game, but they award exactly 0 XP to masteries tracks. You need to do stuff in the actual continent of Tyria for it to count for mastery progression.
On the other hand, XP gained in fractals counts for mastery progression.
So WvW, EotM and the Labyrinth, which are in the Mists, do not give XP that counts for masteries, but the Fractals of the Mists, which are in the Mists, do. Because logic.
