In the Arm Seals portion, specifically, what can my friends and I do if the enemies at both seals have gotten to the swarmspawn phase? It’s just three of us, unfortunately; a Mesmer, a Guardian, and an Engineer, though we each have a couple alts available.

We ran into this problem lastnight, we just couldn’t get either seal broken with both sides assaulting us. Any tricks that might work out to let us get through such a bad situation in the future? Aside from the obvious “don’t screw up in the first place”.

The class is always greener on the other side.

Have 5 players instead of 3?

That’s the main thing that is making it difficult for you.

Just LOS on one side and focus on getting one of the seals destroyed. Once that’s done, then go clear out the other.

Suiciding should reset one side, then you just run it like normal (or in reverse).

If they’re still both swarmed… eek, best advice would be to swap up some traits so you can survive running to the unmanned side and get that in, it’ll likely recharge itself but just keep at it focusing on getting one seal destroyed on a side you’re clearing. Just take it slowly and get the one side down then shift to the other.

So like take say warrior with endure pain (just example other options obviously) so you can hit that and run in on that swarmed unmanned side safely and get that trigger.

Keep clearing the other side to prevent cultists from healing the seal and bang that one out.

With your comp you could probably just save feedback/walls and toss them up to defend yourself on the unmanned side to get those hits in.

Either way, it shouldn’t happen in that you should be able to reset one side with a suicide jump (everyone dead) then respawn together.

Depend on the agro of the mobs. Some times it is really easy, just do the samething and have the guardian run the far side.

Since guardian have shelter, block elite, retreat, stability, protection/regen utility. f1, f3. So the guardian can pretty much run in and run out without problem.

Some times it dont’ work so well, since the mobs keep following you all the way to the other side. I’m not sure how the agro works, it’s usually a 50/50 if I can do it easily or harder if mobs follow me.

Alright, if you look at the following diagram please,

  • When you reset, one or both (if not bugged out) seals will reset to the original numbers of chanters (2 per seal). If it is still bugged out, only South Seal will reset while the North Seal still get swarmed.
  • Have some stealth and skip through North seal to your LOS spot.
  • Thin out some of them, while your group is still pulling the aggro (preferably the guardian), the engi can run out and knock the North Seal. If necessary, stealth yourself with Elixir S before hitting the seal. Hitting the seal will draw all the aggro on you immediately so have some measure for negating the damage. Alternatively, the mesmer can Mass Invi you for some stealth.
  • The South Seal is annoying in a way that the chanter will follow you through until you are properly out of line of sight. It is harder to shake off their aggro. One way to pass it is to have the mesmer place a portal at the LOS spot, run to the South Seal, after hitting it, pull the chanter to the far corner, then use portal to travel back. That way, the Chanter will not follow you and disrupt the pull at North side.
  • If you pull the chanter at the South Seal by mistake, make sure to stealth yourself, then stay LOS him for a bit until he completely leashes. It takes time so be patient, or he will never leash.
  • If it’s still too hard, have one member always draw aggro of the chanter in South Seal (kite around, block, evade, etc) and relay the role to whoever comes to hit the seal. Have two others control the aggro of the North Seal.

Extremely useful advice, thank you all very much. We’ll hopefully be able to give it another shot in the near future, and will try some of those approaches. Prior to the difficulty level where we started having problems, the Engineer would distract the north side while the Mesmer and Guardian ran the hammer back and forth. X) That approach and variations on that approach were what we were trying, mostly, and it didn’t work out.

WHAT? No, hopefully you won’t ever have to give it a shot again! do it right and don’t kill both sides! hehe

There is nothing wrong with R&Ding worst case scenarios, things can happen and knowing how you can wiggle your way out of a tight situation is a recognized skill set.
