I remember when all the Dev videos for this game came out. How excited I was when I heard them say such things as “every class has a role” “we do not want to require certain classes for group play”, etc. etc. etc.

Well, you know what… this game has turned out to be very cookie cutter indeed. So how is it, a group other than one heavy with tanks, can even attempt to succeed at COF paths 2 and 3?

For starters, this is very stupid how it is setup. Is their plan just to have it so you run in and die? Really, no strategy at all? Just run in and keep dying? If you have anything other than a tank heavy group, you cannot kite long enough… and you do not even stand a chance of fighting…

So, this question goes out to ArenaNet…. how can you go on about saying that this game is unique, unlike other MMO’s, where you can form groups with other classes to accomplish goals, and then FORCE cookie-cutter group setups onto people if they want to succeed?

Please, do tell how you can say one thing, and then expect players to play a different way.

On a side note, have the Dev’s even attempted these paths? I think they should get a group of squishies, with 1 or 2 tanks (not all decked out in the best game gear available) and run these dungeons as they are right now… lets see how many attempts it takes them before they realize, HEY, THIS IS DUMB!

The developers have QA teams which do play the game (and their developers regularly play the game too) and have repeatedly said that “explorable dungeon content is intentionally tough”. You don’t need specific groups; heck, I do CoF all paths with my guild every night and we don’t even bring a heavy class! It is a matter of player skill, the correct use of combo fields, and knowing your battles.

For the record, it’s pretty clear you’re complaining about Magg’s ritual room. The developers have said that they want to rebuild this aspect of CoF because it is not as fun as they wanted, despite definitely being doable. If you’re being forced to kite the whole thing and repeatedly die, it’s because your team lacks the DPS to put down the enemies fast enough. It’s as simple as that. My guild teams, regardless of class, put down the enemies fast enough that we don’t even start to get overwhelmed until about 70%, and at that point we’re in a good enough position to all tank until the 100% mark without anyone dying.

tl;dr: The dungeons are end-game content, are supposed to be hard, and if you can’t do it, keep trying and learning.

It’s not hard… it is nearly impossible. Anything intentionally designed to slaughter people constantly is not “hard”, it’s just dumb. Every group I’ve had so far, none of them fight… they all just run in and die. If you tell me your guild goes in and has no problem killing them with DPS, well congrats, you didn’t read my initial post and you must be those who goes in with 100 gold worth of gear to do that…

For the casual player… this dungeon is just stupid.

If you tell me your guild goes in and has no problem killing them with DPS, well congrats, you didn’t read my initial post and you must be those who goes in with 100 gold worth of gear to do that…

That alone tells me you have never used the trading post….like ever.

Im a thief with full power/pre/crit gear and barely die on path 2/3. Even had to stand around fire imps for 15mins whilst the team sorted itself out on the torches.

Thats ofc not counting path2-kite-till-dead-respawn-and-hope-magg-doesnt-die-room, though its cool to be naked every once in a while.

And 100 gold of gear? You realize most exotic (tradeskilled) armor sets dont brake 4g a piece, so for a complete exotic tradeskilled armor set your looking at 24g or less and maybe 15g or less for the jewlery. Tradeskilled also has the same stats as the named stuff, which i find extremely odd.

Do not see point of argument. Wat do?
