Hey guys!
So next update is very likely to be big: fractal revamp ! Yay !
So, this thread is to see what’s not working in fractals and what you think/hope will be changed.

I hope :
1) Rewards. Just rewards. Seriously, you can run some dungeons within 20 min and get some gold while spending 1h30-2h in fractal 40+ and not even getting 1/5 of the reward.
Adding money to daily chest just like in the dungeons could be nice.
Something like, 1 for 1-10, 2g for 10-18 …, 5g for 40-48

2) Improving rewards #2.
Fractal weapons skins : RNG is really annoying. Sure you can get almost decent chance to get weapons at 48 but RNG is crap and you get a useless one, plus you can do nothing with them.
So either let us chose the weapon or allow to trade ours, or salvage them for cool things.
Fractal rings : Cool,but since we get a lot, ability to salvage them for nice things could be nice.

Ascended weapons (armor too?) : It’s cool you can theoritically get those in there. But the problem is actually, the chance is very low (RNG) and you suffer another RNG that gives you bad stats.
Either increase a bit the chance + let us choose the stats
or drop the ascended weapon as a whole and offer guaranteed ascended mats like deldrimor steel and the wood.

3) Length/Difficulty.
I think this will be addressed since I had seen a very interesting thread saying they were looking to reduce length of long fractals (dredge/colossus) or to make it so that you can’t have more than 1 long map on a run.
I definitely think doing both would be the best.
Reduce a bit the length of these maps and rate some maps as long/difficult (colossus, dredge for length, maybe the new ones coming for difficult ? Fire shaman for difficult for some people ?) and make it so that you can’t get 2 of these.

Also, some maps are really unbalanced : colossus and dredge are both very long and arguably difficult (to stay awake especially ). Add to that the insane lack of reward of colossus : at the beginning, boss gives nothing. At the end, he gives nothing. Wtf ? Seriously, this boss is very long and he gives nothing ? Why killing him in the first time ? Even Alpha 2d encounter in CoE gives loot when you chase him (without killing).
Dredge is more OK with lots of mats bags during boring event of the “car”.
Swamp is both very short and pretty easy if party is experienced (assuming Mossman gets fixed and stops hitting us from stealthed, which is really unfair, and that BloomHunger also gets fixed and no longer drops agony where there are absolutely no red circle)
Fire Shaman is OK because it’s “hard” but with a good party, it can be pretty fast.
Svanir is OK too since length and difficulty are both medium, even though elemental boss is boring because of “ha ha infinite bump motherkittener !”
etc …

4) Fix the bugs.
Because, seriously, too many of them. I already mentionned those of Mossman and Bloomhunger.
- The lazy NPCS in Ascalon : how often do they refuse to get into combat ? How often can’t they come back with you even if the whole party wiped and rezed at the same time ?
You should be able to get them back while all being ooc for a little time, even if the party doesn’t wipe …
- Asura map : because yeah, harpies are OP. They have an insane range with their arrows while you get so often the annoying invulnerable if you try to hit back …
So they can hit you but you can’t hit them ? Is is fair ? No, don’t think so. If we can’t hit them when they can’t hit us, I don’t want them being able to hit us when we can’t hit them. That’s called fairness
- Colossus : if you kill all chanters at a side at arms seals, if you fail and wipe, all chanters are still here, instead of the event resetting and getting back to only 2 of them on each side. Which means, if you fail once in higher levels, your chances are pretty low to succeed.
Also the hammer kinda disappearing when you fall wielding it.

5) More HP, more power = more fun, more challenge.
Seems to be the moto of the game. But more HP and more power definitely is not fun. It works for some time but it gets boring.
Instead, reduce a bit the HP of a lot of bosses/champs and give new mechanics to them the higher you get.
For instance, you added :
- the fan and the crystals to power it up on Asura map
- the harpies KD on Asura map
- the speed buff to adds on Fire Shaman, first encounter

These are good ideas : now to find other similar ideas !

6) What can I do with these ?
Pristine Fractal Relics. Yes I have some, I would please like to have something to do with them. It links to my reward part.
Maybe trade them for ascended mats ?
Same with shards, they don’t drop that much but it would be nice to have an extra utility to them

My hopes
It’s almost Christmas, pretty please ?
Would be nice to see some red post coming but I guess we’ll have to wait till Tuesday to have the preview, hope there will be that and be disappointed on the 26th

Having a reward chest with gold for each individual fractal would be great! If it was also balanced so that longer fractals gives a sensibly higher amount of gold, it would be an awesome addition!

Indeed!

Maybe make it so that Fractal Skins that drop @ a really high level, you would get the option to choose which one you want? Sounds to be a problem solver; you get rewarded for your high Fractal level and the negative side of the RNG is not nearly as bitter. (Like the RNG here quite a bit myself)

As an avid fractal grinder, 3-5 per day of 38+, I can’t support more of this thread.
Other than what you mentioned above some thoughts.

A way to trade maybe 50 shard+50 glob+50 vials for a random ascended chest or something. I picked a high number of each because I like the idea of high drop rates from these things, I however don’t like getting nothing from 48s/58s when I do a few of them per day, so its nice to have a reward if you do them enough kind of thing.

I can’t stress enough how cool having maybe a ‘longer’ fractal would count as say 2 maps? I don’t see cliffside being long really at all, but dredge is really like longer than running most dungeons right now.

Higher drop rates on skins at 48+

A way to trade skin(s) for a different skin or something like a skin box, as someone said above, so you can pick which one you want.

More things to buy with relics and pristine relics (this depending since it was added just to give less rng on which rings you wanted to get at lower fractals) because we don’t have enough of these things.

Or, alternatively, they tie in some terrible Living Story into it, make the new Fractals time gated bullcrap and/or way too long, fix none of the bugs we’ve been complaining about for a year, fix the few ‘glitches’ that actually made Fractals bearable, tie in some pitiful reward that spawns out of laziness and is not representative in any way, shape or form, force some new ascended grind in it, screw over Fractal weapons in some way by giving them to the masses, and once the damage is done, leave it to rot for another year.

I think 4 main things need to be done in the following order:

1. Add guaranteed gold daily rewards at the end of 0-9, 10-19, 20-29 etc..all the way to 80.
2. Champs/legendaries should drop a champ box with a chance to drop fotm skins each time we fight (Guaranteed)
3. Allow the regular relics to be traded for pristine and allow pristines to be traded for ascended mats
4. fix harpy bug & balance the length difficulty of each fotm

5. Optional, Add a new repeating achievement that rewards perhaps additional relics for completing unique fractals (This will encourage players from not doing the same maps over and over)

It would have been a huge improvement 11 months ago but knowing what I know now about the direction of the game I would keep it the same. The problem in the game is skins are not rewarded for challenging feats but a combination of cash or gold. RNG fills the gaps but people are kitten ed because it was done so wrong by making everything drop everywhere and including it in black lion chests where a large majority of decent skins go now.

Fractals is the closest thing we have that shows players did something challenging that doesn’t include a solo 15 second lupi kill.

Start with watchwork, pop portal afterwards?

I don’t know, it’s all hypothetical anyway, because it got fixed.

Also, considering the molten and aetherblade maps, I hope these will be adapted in terms of length and difficulty since I can only imagine atherblade as it was in 40+ fractals : the only map even longer than dredge :P

There’s nothing to gain for me from fractals <28, why do I need to sacrifice 28+ hours for each new character I get to 80, to be able to enjoy fractals? It’s not like I need to relearn fractal mechanics all over again, just because I have new char.

I really hope for that to NOT happen, as I have at this point 2 characters at lvl 49, one at 38 and a couple more at 30.. and I’m sure there’s people with even more characters at high levels, all the efforts of those people would be just wasted, and it happens quite often that I do a couple of fractals of the same level in a day.

I’m also definitely against since char bound allows multiple daily rewards. If daily reward is improved well enough, that will be much more interesting to grind levels with alts.

I suppose realistically you could expect to kill him in two chaos storms. So if you portaled up, jumped down and quickly used the portal back up again, you could wait for him to finish phasing and jump right back down on him and hopefully finish him off. That would be around 15 seconds I think.

I really hope for that to NOT happen, as I have at this point 2 characters at lvl 49, one at 38 and a couple more at 30.. and I’m sure there’s people with even more characters at high levels, all the efforts of those people would be just wasted, and it happens quite often that I do a couple of fractals of the same level in a day.

IMO that’s a selfish point of view, vast majority of people do one fractals run every few days, once a day max. You already can do 28/38/48, that’s 4-6+ hours every day. That’s not enough?
As I don’t have a regular fractal group it took me half a year to get to 42, now possible reset to lv 30 is bad enough by itself, if they won’t make it account bound it will be like a slap in the face.

But it seems they will:

Your personal fractal difficulty and reward level is being made account-wide! Starting with the Fractured release, you can attempt high level fractals on a new character without needing to level up all over again.
