I’ll name a few. Spider queen(her attacks hit super hard but stacking so tight makes her attacks hit into the wall so they miss you), most of the mob pulls in AC work like this, and obviously the last boss the howling king. You can stack him on p1 and p3, even though its harder on p1 if you are not all zerker. SE, the golem bosses halfway through. Frost from Caudecus manor(sort of). Hes not completely in the corner but you are able to get away with sitting high up in this little corner so that you take no damage and are able to range him. TA knight but someone already mentioned this. These are the ones off the top of my head.

Obviously one thing that would kill stacking is putting mechanics into a boss like I mentioned before. When I look at more of the recent content Anet’s put out (TA path one, some fractals), you start to see more mechanics within the bosses in some places at least, and this seems to counter the ability to get away with stacking. As far as I know you can’t stack any of the bosses in TA aether.

Simple consequence: A good bunch of builds, which are competitive right now, get screwed (like hammer guardian, staff ele, whatever …), while other meta builds don’t give a kitten. Isn’t everyone on this forum crying that build diversity should be increased instead of removed completely? So yeah, brilliant idea …

I highly doubt anyone would stop playing hammer guardians or staff eles. Instead, soft CC like cripple/chill/immobilize would be more desired. How would that “completely remove” build diversity?

Is there a spot in Dungeon Bingo for people using spider queen or AC as their examples?

Just because you see some video of a certain LOS spot stack, doesn’t mean it’s some magical winning spot.

^This. I remember the discussion about how most of the pugs can only copy tactics/builds without even understanding why…

Is there a spot in Dungeon Bingo for people using spider queen or AC as their examples?

Her range attack is not used at melee. Her melee is still used and should still be dodged. If you’re not getting hit, thank your guardian. Her melee will still hit you. You are not invincible in that corner. Try it yourself. Don’t bring a party to carry you. Stack on her, press 1, don’t dodge anything, see how it does.

I effin hate her so MUCH. Im trying to solo it and the stacking spot sucks so much because she sometimes goes into the wall and you cant see her animations to dodge/ I suck. Then she is like LOL FGS PLS SKRUB .

I find clearing the whole room first then beating her to death close Quarters with lightning hammer is safer for me.

i’d like to see more diversity, more strategy we r running in a room to found a corner and stack up, then we will skip a corridor to found another room and stack again…. i wanna see more mechanism, i wanna se heavy tanking/dps in a part of room, a thief cloaked trick some machine then a mesmer make a portal then blink upstairs and carry all the team, i wanna se a hill with a turret with a ranged classes do some job and other classe do other stuff… more complexity, less oneshotting from both parts…. like other games…

Every class does DPS, yes thanks god. But they also gives boon, bring banner, give aegis, put down reflect, cleanse your conditions, knock down the boss, Stealth you through some hard skipping part, Blind enemies, put weakness on them, pull the enemies together. It’s not because you do damage that you can’t support, every team members have responsibility and bring utilities to the fight, just like trinity MMO.

And the shocking truth…

THERE IS NO “DPS” IN THIS kittenING GAME, IT IS NOT A ROLE IN GW2, THERE IS NO ROLES IN GW2 GET IT OUT OF YOU MIND

Because they play in full cleric gear or something so they don’t need to ever dodge her attacks. They don’t likely notice that they get weakness on them either. They literally do stand there and press 1 without dodging.

I guess they just assume everyone else does the same thing but they somehow ‘exploit’ it faster.

i see for everycontent “lf full zerker” and it works better then other…. why someone should chose one class or another? only for a different mode to do dps… there is no other differences… i’d like to see MORE differences, atm it’s a game for kids, i dont understand how is possible do u like play in a corner and skip contents in every dungeon… where is the fun? where is the mechanics? where is the differences between classes? boon and cc it’s a joke if at the end everyone have to do the same stuff…. just chose the best dps in the game and run the dungeon… they destory trinity, i love that, but now we are all dps and it sucks…. but the most important things is the mechanism… we dont have any different mechanism, its all about corners, max dps, skip mobs, and repeat…. like o told other games give a purpose to any classes, and dungeon “force” player to play smarter with different gear and different roles, a ranged one can really range some guys and make easyer the life of melee, “tricky” classes like thief and mesmer should be protected when other defend him to trick some machine etc etc…. i’m asking a deeper game, atm it’s a hack’n’slash and it was suppose to be a mmorpg

There is an easy solution to get rid of “stacking trivialized content” posts.
Buff spider queen’s melee attack damage by 1000 times. I’d have no problem with that, but I’m sure even more “boss too hard, omg nerf pls” posts would come up than “omg stacking easy nerf pls” posts right now.

Because, let’s say a quick AOE chill for an Icebow 4 would still result in more damage than autoattacking.

I certainly don’t bother dodging the spider queen’s attacks in full zerker using dps meta builds, on any of my characters. She gets burned down so quickly that it doesn’t matter at all, and it’s not as if I run with ultra pro groups using top notch consumables, 100% ideal builds/runes/sigils, full ascended/infused zerker, and perma 25 stacks of might/vuln. Maybe if you were doing it solo, or if your other 4 party members are semi-afk cleric bearbows.

Easiest and laziest fix to AI: if AoE -> move out of AoE.

If you had any idea of what that means, you’d know what they’ve already tried it in one of the first betas (second? don’t remember), precisely this. It was absolutely horrible and ridiculous to watch those mobs walking out of aoes. If you were an elly they were basically perma running away and unable to do damage to you.
Hint: every mob that I can recall can’t cast while moving. This is why kiting at max melee and dodging when they stop walking is so effective (hello Archie the diviner). You know they’re going to do something.
End of lesson.
No wait, one more thing: it’s very easy to say “oh, just do this, problem solved/fixed”, a bit harder to know the consequences of that.
Seems like everyone is a game designer nowadays…
“Just remove stacking, it’s so simple!”
“Just make pets dodge, fixed!”
Jeez.

I think the amount of fail in AC is worse than CoF ever was, or maybe I have blocked out some of the more colourful CoF runs I have done.

Sure it makes for great pug roulette stories when you are in the mood, but most of the time it’s far less frustrating to just solo or duo it. A friend of mine keeps a folder just filled with screenshots of fail pugs that I send him, I’ll have to see how many are from AC compared to other dungeons.

Every dodge basically wastes DPS so you’re better off just standing there in your full zerk autoattacking. And that’s what every single group does, no matter what their gear.

The only reason bosses are hard in this game is because the player doesn’t know (or can’t see) the secret animations for the special moves. It’s the stupidest system they could possibly design: crush first-timers until they memorize the boss yet make it trivial for pros who run the same dungeon every single day.

Nothing in AC is hard because it’s all so exploitable. Spider Queen? Stack by stairs and autoattack. What’s dodging? Last boss in path 1 (or is it 3?…I don’t remember/care) stack by pillar and autoattack. What’s dodging? Heck I can’t even see the boss since the pillar obscures my vision. But it doesn’t matter because we autoattack him to death while he either doesn’t bother using his big special attacks or they magically miss. The hardest part of AC 1/3 is the burrows in path 1 if you don’t have an elementalist and your group is fairly clueless, mainly because the NPC will die.

Even on a warrior, why the hell would you autoattack spider queen? Why not just… 100b + WWA? That is, if it’s not dead before the 100b chain is even completed.

Because they play in full cleric gear or something so they don’t need to ever dodge her attacks. They don’t likely notice that they get weakness on them either. They literally do stand there and press 1 without dodging.

I guess they just assume everyone else does the same thing but they somehow ‘exploit’ it faster.

Why would you ever dodge the spider queen? It’s not like you can tell she’s targeting you and not one of the other party members. Every dodge basically wastes DPS so you’re better off just standing there in your full zerk autoattacking. And that’s what every single group does, no matter what their gear.

Weakness can reduce outgoing damage of players by a stupid amount, just sayin’.

AE condition cleanse says hi. I guess 1 person in the group has to press a button once during the fight. Hard.

kholer is considered hard?

this tells you how skilled these players are. apparently all these stackers don’t know how to do a fight where all you need are:
-projectile defence (ascalonian rangers and elementalists)
-a stunbreak or two (warrior and necro CC spam)
-condition cleanse (rangers, necros)
-eyes (to see the obvious tell of kholer himself, where it’s only hard if there is effect spam)

hell it’s harder to do kholer stacked (if you have low DPS, which is less of a problem postpatch, or if you get bad RNG on his positioning) than to simply fight him in the open and maybe call target and focus the more problematic adds.

sure, it’s a decently fun fight, but in no way is kholer hard for even halfway decent 5-man parties…

Increase the Precursor drop rate from dungeon bosses, people wont skip him.
Why waste your time for some greens and blues?

I PUG AC daily (god bless my soul) and I never ever saw ppl skip Kohler. Even the badest of the bad don’t skip him from what I’ve seen at least.

@hendo: How is that even possible? Isn’t the tell quite obvious and always the same? I mean, there is a high chance of not seeing the tell because 1. all the particle effects block the sight 2. the effects / stance of him which tell you that he is going to throw his anchors and spin afterwards can easily clip into the wall, so you won’t see it.

Funny thing is that, in many pugs, he hits with his anchors, so he spins even though there are enough reflections up because people always seem to stand in a weird way. (I think the anchors “start” from the inside of his body, so when you stand in him, it doesn’t get reflected.

But to be honest … Kohler dies so quickly that any tactic or clever use of anything doesn’t matter anymore.
