Just why run...?
I get it, everyone has played every single dungeon 100 times already and it’s boring for them, but how should i play it like it was meant to be played, if i can’t find anybody who wants to do the same?
Assuming you don’t have friends or guild mates to join you, try posting some creative LFGs. Specify ‘First timer’ in the listing, and chat a little with the people who join, make sure they’re on the same page.
I’ve seen a few listings like that, you’re not alone.

Since i’ve not been playing for more than a year, i don’t have my old guild and people i got to know in the game are not playing anymore. I joined a new guild not a long time ago, but i already quit because of the ts requirement and the constantly silent chat.
Also, it’s not too easy to get people for Story Mode anyway… i have to sit there for a while until i can get 4 other people for it. So if i would start chatting with each of them, it would take triple as much time to find the people who won’t rush…
It’s not so bad. I usually write “Story Mode – Watching Cutscenes”, and that’s that.
That’s understandable, but if you want a slow paced run you should also be patient when forming your party.
There’s lots of friendly, active guilds with no TS requirement. Hang around in LA for a while, whisper to anyone who’s repping a guild and looks ‘important’, lol. Chances are there might even be someone recruiting.

I did not even think about that, hah, thanks. I will try that next time.

It was a honest reply. I just did not think about something that simple to begin with.
I’ve definitely had problems with this. I want to do dungeons, but people are impatient, unfriendly, and critical. As someone mentioned, though, it does help to create a group by pressing “y” and adding “all welcome/story mode/watching scenes/etc.” I’d like to do explorable mode more, but it’s even harder to find friendly and patient people doing that.

Create your own group and start the instance (so you can’t be kicked without them losing progress). Add the LFG “p1 – Casual Run”. I find the “Causal Run” in the lfg gets you friendlier people who will tolerate more.
Just solo the path and you can watch as many cutscenes as you want….

Frustrating, isn’kitten I tend to go for faster runs these days, but when I was starting out I liked to take things slower and learn as much as I could about the dungeons.
Find a guild that runs dungeons but doesn’t take things too seriously (PM me if you’re on NA and interested. My guild does a lot of laid-back dungeon runs, but we are 100% rep). Or put “watching cutscenes, casual run” in your own LFG.
I dont know if Im the luckiest or unluckiest SonofaGuns’s around. When I put “CazualRun#Wear Yellow&Green only” I get cazual rp’ers who wear yellow&green and chat and stuff during the run.
But heaven help me if I put
“P2 Experienced Level 80’s only- Meta builds only Minimal skips”
That being said other than watching cutscenes even my casual runs tend to go quite quickly. things simply die so quickly.
you can also try keeping the dungeon run in the level range of the dungeon
30-39 only ac 40-49 only cm etc etc That way you theoretically wont have those pesky 80’s bringing experience to the party thus speeding it up.
Also sub 1k ap only may be another one
I run because I’m scared. Them mobs hit very hard. After all, I’m a lover not a fighter.
make a LFG with the title:
Newbie, no speed run, watch cut scene, kill everything.
You probably need to wait a while though.
I can guarantee you that some enemies in dungeons were designed to be skipped.
Read: Playing to Win.
Guide: How to play a Mesmer in dungeons.

^this
Can you imagine how dumb a dungeon would look without “decorative mobs”?
Adding additional enemies adds to immersion, but doesn’t mean you’ll have to kill them.
I did not say anything about killing everything by the way. I just asked for players to slow down :P
Short answer:
Anet nerfed any way to get gold, while pushing grinding.
Economy makes stuff more expensive day by day, so you are forced to grind gold as fast as you can.
You can t no longer enjoy the game as it happened during the first days of the game, now is a rush to get gold.
This is the common mindset.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
LordByron, we keep telling you that there is no inflation. Please refrain from posting economic oriented kitten in these forums.
“You know nothing” ~ A raving asura.
Enaretos can you deny 99% of LFG are for farming gold purpose?
How often do you repeat a dungeon once youcleared it once the same day?

Also be respectful of people please, you can t tell Others what to write if they follow forum rules.

This is completely wrong. Inflation is due to running dungeons and killing mobs/world bosses (new gold out of time). Economy (I guess you meant Trade) on the other side just moves the gold from pocket to pocket (while destroying % of the volume per exchange).

They aren’t farming gold, unless they are avoiding killing the last boss so they can just champ farm.
So yes I’m denying your assumption. All I see are people not wanting to be stuck for hours in an easy dungeon.
I personnally don’t repeat a dungeon unless it’s to teach/help as it is a loss of my precious time.
I happen to be respectful of people. You are just talking economics in a dungeon subforum. There are better places to discuss it like the BLTC subforums.
Lord Byron dot eight three six nine, pls.
And so you know, prices inflate as there is more money in the market. The question to ask is how skewed the financial distribution between players is, not how much money is being made. That’s not for this sub-forum though.
People run through dungeons because killing the mobs inside the dungeon is typically a waste of time in terms of time/reward ratio.
A well-designed dungeon does not have content that gets skipped.
In GW2, you can’t blame people for taking the efficient route and skipping most of the content, they are doing the thing that makes the most sense. You blame the poor dungeon design that allows skipping to be more rewarding than fighting your way through.
Again: I haven’t even talked about skipping, that was just brought up by people like you.
I’ll say it again:
If you want to have fun you run something more interesting like fractals or TA aether etc.
Even story modes are run by many just to unlock PvP tracks or explo mode.
I didn t talk about inflation and you can flame people in the TP section like usual.
If you enter CM or AC (and even COF and COE) you are 99% sure to have at least 1 or 2 players there for unlocking purposes (possibly who made characters just to farm dungeons) since those are 2 of the fastest dungeons in explo and dungeon are not account bound.

Get used to it. People don’t do the dungeon cause they enjoy it. They do it just for the gold behind it.
You will run, skip and spam 1 on white globes full of colored light that hides 5 players and a boss in it.

I do dungeons because I Enjoy them?
what you on about?
Story modes are run for 1 of 3 reasons:
- unlock PvP track (does not care about dungeon at all)
- unlock explorable (does not care about story mode)
- and the guy who is completely new and just doing the dungeon for the first time, who wants to savor every moment.
So you just accidentally put the wrong people together.
There’s also the guys like me who run it for the Daily when it shows up.
But I have no problem letting guys watch cutscenes. I even openly say right at the start that if people want to watch, it’s fine with me. I’ll wait.

I’m not even sure why people like you keep commenting. It’s obvious that you guys don’t understand that not everyone plays for the same reasons and not everyone takes the game as a “MUST STRUGGLE FOR GOLDZ!44!!” and actually play it because they enjoy it.

Because its not the experience you get in game. More than 50% of the times, as soon as ANYTHING goes wrong or is not in the right amount of speed, people starts leaving the party or suggesting kick to the guy who took the wrong way or is playing with a different weap/skill set. I really don’t get the feeling people enjoying the dungeon. Actually, its hard to see that when most champions inside dungeons are just ignored.
I really wish what you say is true, but it only applies to a minority, at least at the time I’m on.

And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?

You really need statistics to be perfectly accurate? its just a way of saying it anyway. You knew what I meant so I take your reply was kind of childish to be honest.
I don’t know what kind of rainbow game you play in. Yesterday I had 3 people left the party just because one guy had to travel from Hoelbrak, to LA, to BC, to enter Ascalon map to join in AC story mode while playing one of my lowbies alt. Not 1, but 3 players left in that period of time because, waiting for someone running to the dungeon is such a waste of time… the community in this game has its ups and down, but the trend generated by the meta is moving players to the down side.

I don’t ask for speed runners or anything so I don’t even screen for players of any caliber. My experience with pugging is exactly how I described.

No, this doesn’t happen to me a lot, happens to me, my friends, my GF, my brother, guildies that ask for help on unfinished runs because people often wipe and quit right after. It is a trend whether you like to see it or not. I don’t select who I pug with either, my usual advertise goes “PX 80’s for AC” or a simple “PX exp” for COF (since those the ones I pug the most given I have no more than 1 or 2 hours to play straight)
Regarding the statistics, I said 50, not 90 not 10, 50. Meaning is something you see often, as often as you don’t see it. Even if its not 50 and I was terribly wrong with my guess… it is still a fact that most players don’t have patience in this game. You don’t need to publish speed run to have players wanting to do it as fast as possible skipping everything. You can’t be more blind if you don’t see it in the amount of threads opened every week about the very same subject. Not everyone is happy with the current meta and putting it on the LFG is not helping either.
Do the experiment, play as if it is your first month, try to really clean a dungeon (not talking about killing each trash, I hope you are intelligent enough not to come with something like that). Ask your pugs (4 pugs, not 1 because your 5th was not online) to kill the champs along the way in AC. Ask them to kill the Troll if it spawns. Good luck with that… you won’t find players that actually enjoy the content inside the dungeon. They enjoy the +1 gold at the end and thats about it. This is why the OP complains, the standard in GW2 is not to complete the dungeons but to do the least things needed just to get the gold, and the impression you get is that the other 4 players are not really enjoying the dungeon but wanting to get it done ASAP.
PS. If you still think I’m alone in this https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeons-need-to-be-fixed/first#post4136200 first thread I’m reading after posting this and this is what I read…

I don’t pug story mode as I usually don’t do story mode more than once but since I started pugging it more often (I find it a fun way to get low lvl mats and my 36 mesmer is not very welcomed in explorable mode) I started noticing this things.
Do you also pug the other 4 members?
I can also name many other times when payers become impatience and quit. This week I remember Troll spawning right before the lovers fight. Needless to say I had time waiting in the lovers room to make a coffee while some members were struggling to get through him. 2 of them left after getting killed. I suggest we kill him but they refused, its a waste of time was their answer… well it didn’t worked out for them either.
Point is, I (and the OP, and many others OP before him) don’t get the feeling players really enjoy the dungeon itself but what they really enjoy is the +1gold at the end.
(edited by Mesket.5728)
The dungeon itself ceases to be fun sometime around the 95th time you run it. At that point, the only challenge left is solo’ing it (if alone) or seeing how quickly you can complete it in a group.

This is really all that needs to be said.

Exactly, players don’t enjoy the dungeon after a certain time or number of runs. OP, you got your answer.

Agreed. It’s indeed a pity that Gw2, like other games, has very static and predictable dungeons that make speedrunning very viable after a while, with so many walkthroughs and vids on wiki’s and youtube.
I’m always hoping some game developer or other designes dungeons with randomized groups of mobs and bosses – to make it a different challenge every time.
One can hope …
They can make it randomized but I wouldn’t talk about challenge then.

Every PvE content is predictable, due to it’s static nature. It’s an MMO, not an FPS multiplayer game.

So you kill AC troll with every random pug whenever it spawns? Sure.

I think the idea of the OP is that things like ignoring the Troll don’t happen. I’m sure ANet didn’t create the Troll to be ignored and to be honest, it is quite a fun fight. Pugs used to stack and dps usually get killed and don’t want to do it for just a green and a blue so they just run pass him. I’m always down for killing the troll when it spawns.
