I like the lfg site, now I wish Euros and Americans could play together.

Whilst this a good idea, why should we have to go to an external third party website in order to try and form a dungeon group?

Surely anet could create an LFG system in game to aid with the forming of groups. I realise there is an option to flag yourself as LFG but it is woefully inadequate in the creation of dungeon specific groups

Or they could just make a website of their own and solve the region issue. (the third party side is down atm, I guess it overloaded)

Found a group for fractal 11 in a matter of minutes after going LFG for over 30…THIRTY without it.

ANet needs to take this and make it built into the game. Soon most people will use this over LFG chat and new players will be even more lost.

Still against having to run any additional software, 3rd party or not, at the same time. It hurts those whom are running older systems. Which cannot handle additional software running at the same time. Web browsers are not small in footprint. If this is Anet’s stance, then they should increase the system minimum requirements. It’s also slap in the face to everyone using a single monitor at full screen.

btw… I spent over 3 hrs last evening trying to build a party for FotM level 4. Finally found a group willing to do CoF story mode instead. Afterwards we did HotW story mode just because it was so hard to get a party together to begin with. It was a chore instead of fun.

Someone needs to ask about this during the reddit AMA on 11/26 at noon PST. I’d do it but I’m at work.

Thanks for the heads up. I’m still not sure what caused the outage this morning. It was not load. Database/CPU/RAM were all fine. I was looking at everything when it just came back up. Even a restarting the app a few times wouldn’t bring it back up.
As of right now I am thinking it was just a glitch with my hosting.

Look, a simple LFG tool has been made in other games and its proven to work very well. Why shouldn’t it be integrated into GW2 for the content that requires a group? It’s so boring sitting around in LA typing over and over LFG for whatever you want to do. It would be so helpful to have a LFG tool to use where a person could register and go and do some farming or grinding or work on leveling up while waiting for people to come and join the group. BORING!!!!!! I feel there should not be a need for a third party program or some other website to go to check for a group. That is a problem with the game content that needs to be fixed.

I have found the issue that causes the home page to become unavailable. The site is still running, but there is a problem with rendering the page.

Hopefully I will find time today to get a fix in for that issue.

If they want to keep the “social aspect” then why not just add a LFG tab in chat? I am with many of those here in that I will not be using a third party site just to get a group. Good job to the creator for a great idea but shame on Anet for trying to promote this to cover there lack of effort to improve there own game.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – there’s already an LFG tool that is used to automatch people for tournaments in sPvP.

Unless its coded in a really awkward manner, I just do not understand why the existing tool has not been expanded for PvE use.

Need ingame LFG or guesting desperately. It’s 7am here. Would like to play GW2. 100% map completion, nothing to do here. I don’t do WvW due to low FPS. So all that’s left is dungeons. Not a single person advertising anything in LA. gw2lfg is full of NA ads, not a single Europe one. I’m sure there are 4 people looking to do any dungeon at this time, but there’s no way for me to find them. And there are probably plenty of people up for stuff at NA, but there’s no way of getting over there and getting back without waiting a week.

Oh please. I don’t have a lot of time to play I have a life and am busy. Please make a LFG like Rift and other games have. It does not kill the social aspect as other people have said. It allows people like me who don’t have a lot of time to actually play the game.

This is stupidly stupid. Allow people to join groups in higher level like how people can join groups and do dungeon explorable mode without having done story.

Please give us a finder. It’s the right thing to do. I’m sure you have tools to check these things. Look at the numbers and see how many are doing dungeons right now.

See where the responses land. I have done like 1 dungeon so far. I think about hanging around LA having to read the spam looking for the dungeon i need that has no one looking for it and then there’s story and explo….this is so frustrating i end up doing something else.
How can this not be a priority? I think you even added dungeon to the monthly because your numbers were showing people weren’t doing that content enough and you want it to boost it?

Yes, it works. You just have to be on the same overflow. If you aren’t, you have to join them before you enter.
I hope this gets fixed soon… it’s totally annoying if someone in your party gets disconnected or some random player leaves the group and you can’t (re)invite anyone. I wonder why this doesn’t work as it does in all the other dungeons. Maybe because of the difficulty levels?

how else are we going to find people? the whole idea of an online game is to have lots of people to play with. whats the point if you cant reach out to them?

This is dumb, I stopped playing nearly 2 months ago, shortly after obtaining lvl 80 and full exotic gear, because it was impossible to build decent groups to do dungeons, pvp or wvw. I don’t want to stand in town shouting for a group over other people, that’s not fun. After taking part in the betas and seeing how much effort arenanet put in to optimizing the game and making it fun; I’m really surprised they’ve completely overlooked players wanting to find groups outside of their guild, or casual players who don’t have all day to sit in town.

It’s not acceptable to force players who are looking for an lfg option to rely on 3rd party sites for a solution. Regardless of how well other site work, this option should available in-game. Even if they made queuing for a dungeon similar to joining pvp, where you could “fast join” to automatically get grouped with others, it would relieve a lot of the sitting in town bored trying to filter through chat spam.

For incomplete groups, who currently end up sitting on their hands in town filtering through chat, having a function similar to Aion, where you could queue with a partial group and get random LFGers to fill it, would be great.

Obviously some people would want to have specific classes and builds for specific roles to run speed clear or to be the most efficient, it would be nice to see a more complex system that allows you to check everyone’s level/gear/build to make sure you’re adding the right people, obviously that would take longer to implement but it would benefit the end game a lot.

The top two options don’t seem difficult to implement, especially since the pvp random group function already exist in game, and the 2nd option is similar to joining a current pvp. There’s really no excuse to not implement something similar for dungeons.

The main reason I came to GW2 from WoW was because in WoW the game has been essentially playing itself for years, it finds the group for you, it rolls the loot for you (LFRraid) etc. A strict LFG channel which only posts the dungeon name and how many you need is better than some pathetic automated system.

In short GW2 makes me feel like I’m doing it, the game isn’t doing it for me since if it does it makes me think “It’s bad enough I’m sitting here playing a MMO but it’s playing it for me”.

Ever thought that some people just want to get their “daily” in and over with for the day and not worry about anything else? Regardless of how the party was put together, you’ll always end up with mutes. It’s either that or really sensitive and easily-irritable players that respond with “…” followed by some bossy nastygram the very moment when something goes wrong.

The “ruins the community” argument made sense in WoW because such a feature was implemented 5 years after the game came out. That meant WoW had a 5-year long foundation of server-based communities. The introduction of an LFG in that game brought along a “server shock” when it came to grouping with members of other servers. Some servers had clashing ethics that didn’t quite mesh well with another server’s ethics; for example, rolling Need instead of Greed on loot regardless of the class that could use it. Eventually, Blizzard also had to implement unified loot rules and assorted rewards and penalties to minimize griefing, but the initial implementation may have already gave that impression of “ruining a community” for some folks who have used it during the early times. As far as loot goes, there’s no need to worry about “ninjas” since everyone gets a little something in the end as well as the tokens at the end.

Guild Wars 2, on the other hand, is going on three months old! If anything, if there is one “community” that I’d like to see “ruined”, it would be The LFG Spammers. READ: Spamming LFG and having to wait is not a community. Until ArenaNet implements official server-specific forums and stops the free transfers between worlds, there really aren’t any official server-specific communities to “ruin”, just smaller sub-communities like the RP community of Tarnished Coast, and the Oceanic community of Sea of Sorrows which may not have much of a effect when it comes to implementing an Improved LFG. If someone feels like bringing up “server pride”, then that sort of pride belongs in WvW where you can show if your server is better than the other server. In a dungeon setting, everyone regardles of homeworld should do their thing and pitch in to help clear the content in question. After all, in case you haven’t figured out, if you end up in an Overflow server outside of Lion’s Arch, that means people from other servers are tagging along with you in completing the Dynamic Events in that given area.

OMG whoever came up with this, thank you! I’d been sitting an hour in Lion’s Arch trying to do TA and found this and got a group one minute after.

It’s a shame there isn’t an in game tool, with all the overflow and instancing though.

I’d like to be more active. I never played wow, so idk what you’re getting at, but I imagine that being in instance that’s challenging enough will force people to interact, at least a certain level, and that’s a whole lot more social than cyphering through lfg chat while sitting in town.

Robert and company, thanks for stickying this…it can really save a LOT of time for people who are LFG.

That said, I really hope you guys are working on a first party LFG solution. Having a third party site that you have to just randomly learn about on the forums for your LFG solution just isn’t going to cut it for most people…

I’m going to be honest here…I completely disagree with you.

I fail to see how putting together a group in LA is fun. It’s just busy work, and it’s not like I’m screening the people who are joining any more than an automated tool would.

Even worse…with the new fractal difficulty levels, it can take a VERY long time to get a group together by just spamming LA. Like…over an hour sometimes. Thankfully, we have that third party site, but I think we can agree that, that site shouldn’t be the official “solution” to this problem.

I really don’t see why an LFG tool would be bad.

I came here to see if there was already posts about lfg for lower dungeons. I’ve pvped since early-start and just begun to pve. Finally reaching lvl 30 I find it really fustrating that it is taking a very very long time to find anyone for “story” mode (ac). I haven’t completed not 1 dungeon as of yet and starting to get discouraged in doing so for story modes. Would like to do those before I venture into the harder exp modes. I don’t mind all the lfg spam. Just wish there was responses to them. Guess instead of wasting my time lfg in the ac area, ill goto my level appropriate zone and level. Please add a feature to allow people to find others quicker / cross server.

I have another simple solution if people don’t want to use a third party site. I myself don’t like alt-tabbing to go searching for a party when I can do it all in game.

I have created a guild that right now has roughly 10-15 members of people that want to do dungeons. It’s a guild ANYONE can join (everyone can invite anyone) and everyone is the same rank with all abilities (except Guild Message for obvious reasons). You NEVER have to represent it except to talk in guild chat, and I obviously don’t care if you are not representing, it’s not that type of guild.

It’s basically an ingame dungeon finding tool. Being in the guild means that you don’t mind having others in the guild PM you for a dungeon.

Send me ingame mail if you are interested in joining. It’s a safe, in game way. Sorry if this appears to be hi-jacking, I just notice some people don’t use that site. I actually use it often.

I find it ironic that one of the content designers (who advocate against a lfg functionality in GW2) sticks a post referring to a lfg website. So you do like the idea just not in your game?

It’s hilarious that we get a sticky recommending we go and use a 3rd-party site to find a group. It points out two things:

- FOTM difficulty locking is not good. Suggestion: Either make it like exp dungeons (difficulty is settable to the highest attained difficulty in the group) or like a range (if you are within -10 of someone, you can join them). Or even better: reset people’s difficulty rating on some ongoing basis. Once a month maybe?
- This should be taken as another official admission by ArenaNet that the game is highly deficient on tools to help form parties. Can we please get an ETA on a real group finder tool in game? Would really appreciate it.

The website is great, it’s creator did what anet could not: make something useful for dungeons. However there is a problem atm with the population going down its impossible to get an overflow. People are offering money on the lfg site in order to get into an overflow so they can group up.

While this gives me a great idea of how to make easy cash by hunting overflows, this is not exactly what I would call having fun

Especially since fractals has been released with its extensive instanced levels finding a group has become a bigger pain than ever. Sure it is still doable if you have guildies on at the moment or spam chat…but with your “spam” restriction and the likely scenario that people you know are doing something else, many of us are stuck outside the dungeons for 1hour times sometimes, maybe more depending on the time you login at.

Since the game is B2P and there aren’t any subscription fees, the reasonable players are going to be more understanding and patient since we aren’t playing for time played but not having such a feature in a MMO which as you are very much aware is a social game is starting to become a laughing matter, and not in the good way.

Finding other players should be made easy.

Particularly when any self-respecting MMO has been released with the feature inbuilt or implemented it shortly afterward … probably due to a reaction from their player base much like this one you are witnessing in this thread and generally across the forum boards when that issue is raised.

It isn’t hard for the players to guess that you are already working on it at the moment, but please Anet do your best to release it as soon as you can. Your players really want this feature implemented as it waste the quality time we get with your product, especially for those who only have small windows to get to experience your game.

After reading a few more posts from the threads, it is hinted at that you haven’t got the intention to add such a feature in the future, or at least do not favor it personally.

While it obviously remains your product and the authorship rights lay with yourselves, you must understand the same can be said about our time and money. If you do not respect your players time, why should we give you any time of the day ?

I sincerely hope that I got this wrong and it was other players misconstruing your words because otherwise that would really be a bad joke.
If it is by design choice, and that you are hoping that without being able to rely on a utility that the players will have no choice but to start breaking the ice with another to get things going, ensuring a stronger and more fraternal community in the end then I applaud for it… but sadly I really doubt that it’ll be a successful attempt.
I come from SWTOR where the developers tried something similar and so for 6 months or so, the players were forced to find groups without having any utility and we hated every second of it. Eventually after 6 months of crying til we were blue in the face the developers caved in and we finally got the group finder which made things much, much easier.

Do not get me wrong if you are trying to form a stronger community by forcing/encouraging player interaction rather than relying on a utility I completely get where you are coming from and indeed it would be great but it does not work in reality, only on paper.

Until a better solution is found, the group finder is sadly the better of two evils. I’d be more than glad to invite you to remove this feature eventually down the line if you find that better option but until that happens be realistic and help a brother out.

Before FotM came out I wouldn’t have seen a need for a LFG tool, since then though it has become increasingly difficult to find a group for any other dungeon except FotM.

Being on your home server map chat you lose potential group members looking on theirs or overflow, and if you get in an overflow and spam you miss out on potential members from your home/ their home/ any other overflows.

Having said that, having it suggested to minimise the game, go to an external site, find a possible member, make a note of their name, maximise the game, add them and message them to see if they STILL want a group is kitten when the function should be ingame. The LFG function exists already in the friends list, how much would it take to just expand on it.

And I don’t see how it would kill the ‘social aspect’ as 99% of LA map chat is LFG for FotM anyway.

You can already group with people you will likely never see again if you make a group in LA overflow, so a LFG tool wouldn’t be any worse.

While it is nice we have this website as an interim solution, it only underscores the need for an in-game version.

Started using this a few days ago and its terrific. Last nite I posted LFM for CoF and immediately got responces in game and people joining. What a wonderful tool.

And how to do that?

Make/ join a group in LA overflow as normal, travel to dungeon map and when someone triggers story/ explorable mode you will get a prompt to enter even if they are on a different server (or in the case of HotW you go thru the door and get the option to join your party).
It was limited a month or so ago, i.e. players on US servers could group with other players on different US servers but you couldn’t mix US with EU players. Don’t know whether they have fixed that issue or it still applies though.

Me and my 2 brothers are lvl 60 and have not run a dungeon together yet, although we’ve tried multiple times. I’m very worried that once I get to 80, there will be nothing to do because the content will be inaccessable. Although the world leveling content and dynamics are awesome, the dungeon/raiding is very frustrating. The closer we get to 80 the more I’m being led to log off. Very poor group find design and very worried about world group events that no one is doing that makes it impossible to do. Getting that in lower areas now. Reminds me of why I quit playing Warhammer online, that game was painful.
