You can see that it was a popularity contest for the uninformed masses. Its a shame really. We could of got a new improved rampager stat if people had been a bit more intelligent.

Or a full offensive combo. Power-precision-condition-ferocity. Whoa.

My Charrdian is totally going to be rocking that stat and just facetank teq for double numbers. Hopefully its a viable tanking gear set lol. Although I probably wont ever use it in dungeons.

Best place to use it seem to be WvW.

I’m having trouble seeing it useful even in WvW to be honest. People blasting water fields on commander demand in damage+armor gear will be more useful than guardians rolling around (literally) with silly traits and gear.

Where is the crit and the power…

I feel silly now considering I was doing something similar with my commander tag character just to be able to type in the middle of battleground.

That was really long ago though. Also still a very niche thing. This set will be a large noob trap.

Oh bloody hell, Anet is talking a step backwards with this one.

The whole thing with zerker vs. soldiers or zerker vs. clerics is that the difference between the two wasn’t that big. Given identical builds, zerker only does about 50% more damage than soldiers, pre boons and food. I mean, granted that passive defenses weren’t that useful in PVE, but the scales weren’t that far off.

But gear with no offensive stats whatsoever… Let me do some quick math on this…

For TVH, I’ll assume no additional offensive stats other than the rune set and utter nudeness.

Zerker gets 2574 power, 60% crit rate, and 2.23 crit damage. 4744 effective power.
Soldiers gets 2514 Power, 34% crit rate, 1.77 crit damage. 3172 effective power
TVH gets 1571 Power, 27% crit rate, 1.77 crit damage. 1898 effective power

4474 effective power vs. 1898 effective power. 250% more damage… wow. And this is with identical builds, where basically defensive gear is put on a fully offensive build. If someone goes full 0/0/x/x/x with this… hell, PVT does 67% more damage than this set.

Well, look on the bright side: I’m going to get a whole lot better at this game. I often made jokes that I might as well be playing by myself, but when it’ll take two and a half teammates to match my damage… I might as well be duoing future dungeons.

Hm… looking at Acotjes build above… that is 1138 effective power. Zerker would do 417% more damage. Hell, even soldiers would do 278% more damage than that.

hmm… with vitality and toughness conversion traits / runes and consumables, you can get max toughness, high health and moderate power, if not actually pretty good power out of this set. You need a lot of toughness/vit for sure, but you will still end up over 3.4k power with the right set up. no conditions but who cares because lol health pool.

true, it’s no zerker, but it will take more than three champ hits and still be able to dish it out…

I finally needed a good substitute for my PTV gear. Thanks, ANet, now I can get carried even more efficiently!

Though it seems strange to have no offensive stats on a gear, there is no rule (that I know at least) that forces any players to have a single attribute gear set. I mean this kind of new mix can be nice when you mix stats.
As an example if you craft/buy a berserker set but find yourself to die a bit to often you will want to exchange one or two piece of gear to have a bit more resistance. Since it has defesive only stats maybe you can get more survivability by changin one or two piece where you would need 5 clerics ones.
Also this new combination is the first to have Toughness as primary stat and vitality as second so it may be another way to adjust stats.
