ahem, not sure how to say this exactly, but im finding myself with very little content to do now?

was i excited to hear fractals were getting some love, absolutely!..

so i have completed ever single fractal from 1-100.. now what?

the new fractal daily system has made pugging a soul less, boring experience, only the fast easy fracts are being run, nobody talks much.. if at all.

the traditional hi, heya, howdy.. etc has more or less died..
i thought this expansion was about creating a more involved online community?

doesn’t feel like it.. why bother when your only going to be teamed up for 1o minutes..

i used to run 50’s regularly and it was fun.. you had to be highly skilled and have the right group composition to handle the randomized situations..

once you were done everyone congratulated and wished u gl for the loot and they meant it!.. as everyone contributed.

and it felt like u earned that ascended chest!

now its a quick 56 60 and 67, wham bam you get a gold weapon or ascended chest..

it takes me an hour or so to complete all the fractal dailies.. and then its finished for the day.. now what do i do? grind the new hot maps.. omg its so boring.. how can u make friends while doing that mind numbing stuff?

no point in working on my dungeoneer achievement either. good bye dungeon friends

maybe some wvw or pvp? sry not my cup of tea.

maybe the new raids will fill the void.. umm time gated to once a week!???

look i know that maybe im not your typical gw2 player, i liked doing dungeons and fractals and that was about it for me.. but it consumed a lot of my time :P

in short it was alot of fun.

but now i find myself with very little to do.. the “new content” is very repetitive.. the new masteries system is merely a silver wastes, dry tops styled map xp grind in order to unlock yet more extremely repetitive “dynamic!” map grind..

is this what gw2 is now? a quick map check for a commander tag then join the zerg?

i was willing to say farewell to my beloved dungeon runs, i embraced fractals with excited expectations, only to find that has also become a mind numbingly repetitive AND IMPERSONAL experience.

the only silver lining is my parents get to see alot more of me than they used to :P

Welcome to the dumbing down of the genre. Casualization has severely kitten mmorpgs, and thus, any triple A title is going to cater to the broadest audience of Jerry’s kids. If you want your community back, you’re going to have to find an indy mmo. Luckily, some are popping up in a while.

yes i cant make sense of it.. there’s a lot less guild chat once all the hype and newness has worn off.. nobody forming groups, as i said whats the point right?

mostly just questions about gear

so how do the not so casual player base feel about the direction ncsoft / anet has taken?

since when does an expansion take content away while adding nothing to take its place?

There are actually quite a few posts on this forum or on reddit that complain exactly about the topic of the OP.
They killed dungeons and changed fractals from a group of 5 to 5 individuals doing one of three instanced events: Swampland, Molten Boss, Solid Ocean (with the occasional exception to the rule).
Therefore you get more of the mindless pve zerg they introduced with Silverwastes and braindead CoF grinding.
I hope they adjust the issues with fractals, but I really think that dungeons are – sadly – dead.
At least pvp stays decent – can’t say anything about wvw, as I don’t do that.

I was thinking that was weird also. Ironically people talked more in dungeons (which are arguably easier than at least higher lv. fractals) . People regularly at least said Hi at beginning and thanks at end of most dungeons.

Seems like the higher you go up on the fractal scale the less people talk, unless someone does something really stupid.

we solo, duo or trio most of them if there aren’t groups available. (sometimes we even qaurtet, lol.)

the only reason there is to group for the high ones is that they’re health sacks with wet noodles for weapons, and it would take 2 years to finish one otherwise. (we DO group when there are people available.)

the higher you go up the more competent people are. it was like that in the old 50 system too. I always heard a lot of bad things about high level fractal community (usually from people who had never played ANY fractals or had only played 1-9) and sort of shook my head- being one who played them almost every day.

Low level ones- the 1-9 scale, you had some people willing to teach but mostly new players and people attempting dailies after a period of time- but they were not so much harder than dungeons.

The old 10 and 20’s scale- that’s where it hit the fan. those typically took the longest for me to pug alone because they had a lot people joining who perhaps preferred to push into an “experienced” LFG, than make their own, people who will NOT admit they don’t have enough/any AR like its some kind of aspersion on their character, and a lot of PHIW. I’m all for PHIW but if a group says experienced, bring it elsewhere.

That all thinned out at the 30-50 scale for the most part, and even though there would be the occasional person who was having a rough day, or just a jerk- I found the high level fractal community of old to be competent and tacit, but friendly. Many, many, many more good pug runs at 50 than bad.

As for the new system, I am all for making fractals easier to get into and growing the community. Fix the problems with the scaling, though and please PLEASE bring in some new fractals.

As a dungeon/fractal guild we had daily tours before the xpac. Now we’re rly just sitting on our hands till raids come out. Fractal dailies are done in seconds and 70+ fractals are just pointless after you leveled up (and will prob continue to be pointless even if they up the reward). So everyone is in dragon’s stand doing mindless events because there’s nothing to do whatsoever.

hahaha.. funny.. umm i never got an ascended drop in a fractal, had a couple from the daily fractals though.. also got a gold spear from the do 3 | 50+ fracts chest..

i used to farm 40 for a while though.. gave me insane numbers of exotics.. one run i had 5 exotics and as many rares from 6 runs..

but i think they fixed that.. last time i got 1 from 10 runs

as for farming higher levels.. say 77 83 swamp man or 99 molten duo bosses..
i have found the drops to be.. well terrible :P lucky to get a rare to drop
i guess the devs are still working out the loot tables..

farming 99 can be quite fun if only the reward reflected the challenge better…
