The irony of the Dungeon nerf
CoF Mastery Farm doesn’t effect the economy.

It’s still funny though that instead of playing the new content , everyones in farming a 3 year old dungeon….
The CoF farm hardly classifies as “doing dungeons” =P

It’s farming in the dungeon. The original intent was to disuade people from the dungeons. The complete opposite has happened. The point remains.

Except, you’re point doesn’t really remain at all- because CoF Mastery gives 0 loot, or gold. whereas a full dungeon run could yield upwards to 60g+ daily.

People don’t farm in CoF because they want to complete the dungeon, they do it because they can run in circles and hit infinitely re-spawning mobs.

WOW, You don’t say? -_-
Er I know……It’s irrelevant they are getting NO loot, they are inside a 3 year old dungeon farming the content for xp when they should be playing the shiny new expansion. I don’t know what part of this you cannot seem to grasp?
Why are you even arguing? lol
What Mitch is on about is that the main reason to remove gold never was that people got too much from dungeons, but because they wanted to get people to stay away from them. Yet, we have tons of CoF p1 farmers instead of getting the masteries somewhere else.

Except it does remain. I think you missed the original “point”. As I said to the previous poster, it’s irrelevant they are getting no loot. People are spending HOURS inside cof farming the mobs by the beacons for xp for masteries. Meanwhile, events and the meta events in the brand new expansion fail, or there are not enough people to do them because everyone is in COF lol.
That is the original point. i just find it funny we have all this brand new content and Anet didn;t want people to play the old dungeons but now they are playing them more than ever. It’s got nothing to do with gold or rewards. It’s amazing the amount of people that jump the gun and argue for no reason without a basic understanding of what’s being said.
The difference is that the current COF “farm” is that it is finite – once all the masteries are complete, it’s done. At which point they go merrily on their way.
Previously, there was no discernible end despite diminishing returns.

Yup. Still funny though. Plus, as soon as one batch of players cap their masteries another will need levelling. There will be quite a bit of Cof Farmign for a while yet, until either Anet nerfs the mobs xp or people get bored of it or find a new , even quicker farming patch.

Why are you trying to tell people how to spend their time? You’re in no place to say people should be spending X time inside Y area.
Your first post was the “irony” on dungeon nerf, and the dungeon nerf- is irrelevant. Dungeons were nerfed due to economic reasons, and CoF has 0 effect on the economy.
I feel like your original post was to argue as to why dungeons shouldn’t have been nerfed(Which I agree) however, your post made absolutely 0 argument, and made you look dumb so now you’re back tracking onto how “people shouldn’t spend time there”

No need to be snarky. You are the one that opened this thread, why bother posting if you don’t want discussion?
What I wanted to express is: CoF exp farm =/= doing dungeons. It is has nothing to do with proper dungeon running, it is a totally different experience and the majority of people doing it probably don’t give a kitten about dungeons and the community.
Also, it will not be long-lived anyways.
What do you think happens when all the people that like the farm have their masteries maxed out (if you do it casually 4-5 days I’d say)? Do you think they’ll still hang around in CoF huh?
Anet didn’t want people in dungeons. Massive numbers of people are in dungeons. That’s a fail. It’s pretty cut and dry.

Seriously? Did you actually read what I said? Firstly, I never said a thing about where people should be spending their time. ANET did. I personally couldn’t give a TOSS where people spend their time. If they want to spend hours farming the same mobs over and over in Cof, then good luck, because it’s absolutely mind numbing. I couldn’t do it.
We have a brand new expansion, anet wanted to disuade people from playign old stuff like dungeons and play their shiny new add on. Result is people farming old stuff for masteries. It’s pretty black n white.
When you actually understand the very simple and straightforward point that was made, then we can talk about who is “dumb”.
Another irony lol.
I don’t know, anet said they had two goals.
1.) stop gold from being created in dungeons, slowing inflation.
2.) stop people from playing dungeons, as dungeons bugs will never be fixed.
On number 1 they clearly succeeded. On number 2, they moved people from playing a bunch of dungeons, to only playing cof p1. No longer are people experiencing invisible lupi, exploiting frost, or getting the glitch on alpha. cof p1 is relatively bug free. As sad as I am about it, they succeeded.

And they cant exp these masteries in the shiney new stuff anyway since they need to do it in the old world and found the most effective way to do it.
So when they are done they will exp their new world masteries on the new content just as intended, your post OP dont make sence.
It’s actually quite hilariously ironic, I dunno why everyone’s trying to shoot the OP down. We get that it’s finite, and doesn’t affect the economy, but c’mon….they tried to kill dungeons and the one path that people are spamming is the same one that caused the initial change to dungeon rewards.
Nobody is trying to shoot down the OP (at least I’m not), I just wanted to point out that in my opinion “doing dungeons” is more than just farming the brazier room in CoF p1 for exp and that I therefor don’t consider this farm as such.
Is there a place in the new maps to farm xp like in cof? Not that I would do it just wondering.

Then why ask for it at all, just continue to play your way.
Whatever they do, no matter how much they hurt it, CoF will always rise back to stand by the players’ side.
All hail CoF, Mother of Players and Friend to All!
mitch youre being trolled.

It will only be temporary. Once someone fills up the mastery tracks earning more XP won’t help them. Maybe they unlock all the core masteries, maybe they run out of mastery points, maybe they decide that they don’t care about the ones that they haven’t unlocked. Whatever the case, they will stop farming CoF in time.
New players to HoT would not have spent years earning achievements. So they will start it with less mastery points. So they will reach the point where they stop farming CoF sooner. For example I don’t have enough core tyria mastery points to unlock everything. I see some mastery achievements that cost a lot of gold. I expect to get all the XP I can use before I get the gold I need for them. Thus CoF farming is useless to me even though it would let me spend the points I already have a bit faster.
Your first post was the “irony” on dungeon nerf, and the dungeon nerf- is irrelevant. Dungeons were nerfed due to economic reasons, and CoF has 0 effect on the economy.
Actually you’re wrong. As the Anet economist admitted, they were nerfed so people will stop running them and migrate to fractals and raids. And dungeon rewards were (according to Anet) not going to be removed, but rather moved to those 2 other types of content. And who knows, maybe they will end up in raids, because for sure they didn’t move to fractals.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Don’t you think it is a delicous irony that with this patch, Anet wanted to disuade and disincentivise people from doing dungeons yet more people are doing them than ever for the mastery farming!!
I just find the whole thing hilarious. Look on the lfg, and it’s FULL of people lfm Cof Farm lmao! yet try and get a group to do big events in Auric Basin or DS and GOOD LUCK!
CoF has never been alive since HoT release, Hell its even had more people afk there than LA
