Upcoming Cliffside changes
So with the teaser out, they’ve apparently put at least some focus on reworking/changing things in Cliffside – among them it seems to be that Archdiviner can now use Embrace the Darkness and probably other Mallyx/Rev-Hammer skills? (Maybe I’m just kittened and mixed that up during the video since the clips are really short but meh) What do you guys think about that and also, what else do you think they’ll change?
Looks like they Changed the Archdiviner from a Necro with a Hammer, to a Reverent.

He still has his minions though – Subclassing confirmed? /s
the phrases “oh god finally” and “kitten the arm seals” come to mind

More like us kill happy gamers will need something to charge the hammer with after we we went and killed all the cultist.
My body is ready.
thank god i did 94 before they implement ranged hammer.
i hope the change involves getting an elevator and making the fractal just a boss battle.
Apparently that fractal just wasn’t difficult/long enough and required an upgrade.

I agree.
Archdiviner’s attack rotations were easily exploitable as long as no one used breakbar making him almost mindless to kill. The stack spots pretty much destroyed any level of difficulty the fractal had not to mention the nerfs in mob density.
I’m hoping they use the new AI on him to make him more aware.
That fractal is not hard, its just annoying, thats all. They can make archdiviner twice as hard as long as fractal is twice as short
The day when we ask for shorter content and not longer.
Then again I was one of the people who were upset with how small the expansion was.

So they making most unpopular fractal even more unpopular by giving new skills to boss? That’s pretty interesting approach to development.

thats not the point, everyone would like to have more HoT story steps/maps/things to do. These are fractals, it works differently. too long=annoying.

The future of our 5 man end game content consists of 3 minute 1 room encounters with no intricacy in level design, am I the only person in this entire game who thinks this is absurd?

Lol, you have to give it to Anet, they really stand by their word in this one and could not give less of a thought about storyline.
I imagine seeing MO stand before a press conference, proudly declaring:
“Yeah well, we know that people have only made swamp because it is short. To counter this, we have now reduced EVERY fractal to just two rooms! One where you have to do something to reach the boss, then the room with the boss. If this works, we are also thinking of introducing this scenario to dungeons. Screw you, story elements!”

You weren’t saying anything about the short fractals. You were saying that it’s a good idea to buff the longest one. In this, yeah, i think you’re pretty much alone.

The fractal wasn’t difficult or long because of two things
1. Archdiviner has a predictable attack pattern in which you can almost afk kill him,
2. There are these things in this game called Skills, you may not have heard of them based on your current impression of the fractal, they allow you, the player to interact with the things laid out in the game in certain ways like dealing damage to an enemy target, causing your character to leap forward or allow an entire party to teleport to a certain desired location.

You can also interact with this thing called an elemental field or combo field to provide certain benefits to your party. This is a great example:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lightning_field
When you look at the table and see the line called “blast”, it provides this benefit called a “boon”, a universal buff that applies a benefit, in this case increased movement speed under the name of “swiftness”.

This is just 1 small example of how you can customize your play to not only provide unique flavor to your experience but also provide you with exceptional benefits in combat.
Try it out, you won’t regret it.

Great list of copypaste, but reality for some reason is different from your opinion. But ofc feel free to make daily champion lfg with 3 cliffside, I’m sure people will agree with you and your impressive arguments.

The fractal wasn’t difficult or long because of two things
[…a long list of completely irrelevant links]
Yeah, it wasn’t long due to Archdiviner fight. It was long and tedious due to seals (especially the third set). So? It was still the logest and most tedious of all fractals, and consequently least liked. Making the last boss fight more challenging on top of the already existing problem could only make this fractal even more disliked than it is now.
Which to me seems like a really, really bad idea.
If you think that fractals are too easy and need to be more challenging, cliffside is probably the last one you should pick to start that rework.

when you say this it makes me think you never did 50s back in the day or 80+ today or before they reverted the scaling they introduced with hot.
the archdiviner fight has never been the hard part of the fractal, but getting 1 shot by him used to be somewhat annoying.

I love Multen Furnace
It’s annoying..especially the arms seals. I don;t care if they change the boss but doing the arms at a higher level is a nightmare.
They need to add more unskippable cutscenes to cliffside to enhance the experience like the molten duo fight. It’s super obvious that the only reason people farm fractal 40 is to watch the unskippable cutscene over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
If they add it to cliffside (preferably one cutscene every seal), it’ll seal the deal (pun intended) and totally make everybody want to run cliffside 24/7.

The fractal is still longer than other fractals AND more annoying on top of that due to what you’re supposed to do in there. Difficult? No. Annoying? Definitely.

TRG has a valid point. As far as the records went, I believe Cliffside was faster by w couple of minutes … Molten is just one tedious time gate after the next.

Cliffside – pre HoT record time is 8m 35s, time depends on your damage and ability to move around fast, no timegates.
Molten Furnace – pre HoT record time is 10m 43s, ~9 minutes timegate.
Maybe i’ll stop being put in a jail cell.
…Oh who am i kidding, they’ll increase the interval for that mechanic so that it occurs more frequently.
