Reading various forum posts and playing with various players ingame, has it ever occurred to people you can switch armor mid-dungeon?

Meaning if you use Magic Find in Grawl FoTM for example, you can swap to that gear during the first few Grawl waves, and then to serious armor during the bosses?

You can even swap Jewelry!

So why do so many players carry just one equipment set and use Magic Find during the Legendary Imbued Shaman?

It astounds me how many players do not realize switching equipment is possible…

I am a constant user of FULL magic find gear, and I agree with this completely.

I hadn’t been doing that in the past, but I’ve started doing it recently. Swapping Jewellry is a little much though. That’s a lot of slots to carry around, especially if you’re carrying around food, spare weapons for different situations, salvage kits, etc. I do what I can though.

Really a super dedicated player would carry around 3 or 4 armor sets that benefit him in certain situations. The two problems I see though are of course inventory space issues and other players trying to rush through the dungeon and not giving you time to swap else be left behind in a swarm of enemies.

Also on the topic of armor…

If you’re in a situation where armor isn’t important and you’re going to die anyway (like the dolphin thing), you should probably just take your armor off to avoid armor repair. Or if you’re going to party wipe on purpose to revive a downed player.

I used to get really frustrated when a group would ask for a wipe to revive 1 player who was deep in the enemy lines. But now I don’t mind it so much.

I am working on my 4th set of armor. I tend to only have an amulet/accessory/ring to swap, rather than a full set of jewelry to save on time and hassle of swapping. All this takes a single 20-slot bag. I only have one such bag, but I have plenty of 15s—two are used for alternate weapons and armor. Having purchased extra bag slots eases the burden this places on my inventory.

while a guard in a bunker build to tank is a decent use of PTV gear, most classes should not be using it to contribute their best to the group. And even for a guard, there are very few places you need full PTV, try 3knights 3berzerker some time (basically trades 3k health for 10% crit and 15% crit dmg and a small amount of power), you should still live in all the same situations and at the same time put out significantly more dmg helping the group more overall.

is a PTV guard not contributing? well yes he is contributing, but not nearly as much as he can, and most other classes the difference in contribution when using PTV is even larger from what they could do and still survive the same amount.

You’re soaking damage instead of dealing it.

Swapping PVT for 3 knight’s and 3 zerker’s will actually lower your power (knight’s primary stats is toughness) and you gonna lose about ~2100 hp (can’t recall exact number). You’re getting crit dmg and chance instead (toughness lost is marginal).

Utterly, utterly wrong. Just because people are to lasy to take care about a real PVT equip. Most of the time people are talking about PVT gear and only means six pices of armour with some silly runes. Not thinking about buff food (never use Superior Sharpening Stone: Gain power equal to 6% of your toughness; Gain power equal to 4% of your vitality) or just use some stupid MF food.
When i’m running my PVT gear it means: armour, weapons ,accessories/jewellery all with soliders crest (exc. some ascended gear). I’m running around with 3.700+ Attack Rating and do with that a very solid and constant damage.
I hate stupid glass canon players who are begging for rezz after 15 seconds of fight.

If you play with people bad enough that they have to rely on defensive stats, than yes. No glass cannon dies from one-shot.

The correct use of magic find gear is to salvage it or to throw it into the mystic toilet.
Wish there would be an inspect feature so I can easier identify and kick magic find leeches.

I never die on a fractal 30+ run, usually go down 1-2 times MAX, glass cannon is not for everyone if you can’t dodge/weapon swap properly.

I run PVT armor/weps and still crit for 2.7-3.4k. Your argument is invalid.
Also because I want to use my legendaries making PVT gear unavoidable.

Actualy, my perma team is maded from 3 players, we need to pug 2, we dont use MF since there is no rlly big use of it and once we tryed our dps went from rlly high into “omg die already”. Personaly i am glass canon in instances and i rarly die (elemental), even on high lvl fractals i play glass canon and i dont die that much, i switch to PVT if there is need for it. People with full MF (runes/armor/acc) cant contribute that much as they should, with that said, it is almost like the rest of us who are not on MF is running them thrue instance. MF should be removed from instances.

I never die on a fractal 30+ run, usually go down 1-2 times MAX, glass cannon is not for everyone if you can’t dodge/weapon swap properly.

Glass cannons dont die from one shot. It takes three shots. Obviously XGhoul ONLY runs with elite players like himself, rarely gets cliffside and doesnt even try to res teammates at all.

My verdict: have both sets then wean yourself off the PVT until you become an awesome player and use PVT only when you NEED it e.g. cliffside hammer wielders, blizzard hitters (since structures can’t be crit) or lagging too much to dodge properly.

And they probably had a timewarp bot to pop timewarp and waited the cooldown before popping the 2nd shield.

But until I see a proof of it happening, I’m calling this bullkitten.

I rather not play with players who say they never die or get downed very rarely or players who want 4 teammates who will never die. Just saying.

Berserker’s armor just makes boss fights slightly faster in most cases, I dont see it as a game changer.

That’s what I used to think when I was a PVT believer 2 months ago. But once you play with full glass cannon elite crews you sorta get used things dying fast, then when you PuG and get ‘I never die!’ PVT/Cleric eles/guardians in your CoE team and Subject Alpha encounters takes 10 mins to kill as opposed to 30 seconds, it gets VERY BORING.

Another ‘we have no damage’ scenario I’ve been in was a team with 2 support guardians and a ‘support’ ele who loved to camp water and earth exclusively, a shout warrior and me as my usual full zerker kitten ele in Volcano Fractal scale 26 daily run: we had pretty much no damage at all and the villagers got pushed off one by one with immobilizes/snares running out we manage to survive with one villager… then at the Shaman they chained their Shield of Absorption/Wall of Reflection/Shield of the Avenger when lava elemental spawns but after all that the lava elementals were all still alive with 25% health and proceeded to down then all; if I hadn’t been running zerkers I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have been able to rally them at all.

2. Whoa you managed to find a PuG who would do the destroyer normally? And that’s pretty impressive for bunker eles, I’m assuming the majority of them were doing the highest burst of scepter/dagger Tooth→Ring→Phoenix→Touch→Earth quake→Churning Earth→Lightning Strike→Blinding Flash→Arc Lightning→Lightning Strike as they retreat?
Personally still having problems brainwashing the others into glass cannoning, only 2 other people in my loose group are true zerker believers. I think I need to urge them to jump down the platforms earlier too, they are usually down 3-5 seconds after the shield goes down rather than AS the shield is going down.

1. Well, this path is quite longer now (can’t skip first big group, unskippable 4 silver mobs and 3 first bosses changed to legendary status, we’re talking about a legit runs, no skips to the last boss). We had pick-up ranger and warrior but overally it was pretty smooth.

2. I don’t really know what’s the “abnormal” way to do that. I thought that was fixed. And I don’t support “smart” tactics like standing on the ledge and attack from distance. Takes too long and it’s boring as hell. About eles, 3 of them was d/d, I was the only s/d (not bunker).

It’s quite hard to convience people that they don’t need defensive sets after some time. And MF set isn’t defensive!

Isn’t that what Warriors do? Inspire allies and demoralize enemies.

Based on my personal experience Lupicus gets 2-4 grubs on bad team if I completely ignore them.

For more damage while downed and/or more time for your team-mates react and rub your body back to health, order some Bowls of Fire Salsa today! To stay on topic: maybe try to offset your weaknesses running MF with potions or perhaps switching out the MF food for an overpowered useful food at least temporarily? People rarely use potions them so you would be slightly more useful comparatively and even less people use the overpowered ones like censored to avoid inflation on my favourite foods.

Last time they tried that with with me joining in for some hot lupicus’ butt scratching time with my Fiery Greatsword, he suddenly turned around and bubbled us all.

I would love to run Arah more often and get my team better at it but our greedy nature and desire for charged lodestones for our first/second legendaries dictates that we should reserve our 4 paths per 2hr DR limit on a strict CoE 231+CoF 1 rotation.

30s really? Youtube please. And please dont tell there isnt at least one mesmer in that party. As for a berserker geared guardian, I fail to see really how much more damage it does as opposed to a soldier geared guardian.

1) Yeah I’m quite aware of the p3 changes since I did desperately farmed Crusher/Hunter during the ~2 week period after dungeon reward update after wasting my tokens on a whole medium set for my guardian… (and got 325g along the way) and farmed the Crusher some more while DR to run out after the the first nerf until it was fully nerfed as is today. Haven’t really touched Arah since.
2) Ledge method is what I thought most pug groups resort to, otherwise they ignore p3 completely :P

We’ve begun to notice after one timewarp+getting Alpha to drop under 80% with big damage after 10 seconds consistently bugs him out (because he tries to spit out too much ooze?) and subsequently lets the mesmers maintain 3 wardens each ~12k-20k every 4.6s each whilst doing 1.5k sword auto attack crits/3k, 52% base crit chance, 72 with fury.

For zerker guardian on greatsword autoattack I typically crit very often with 70% crit chance thanks to fury from warrior at 2.2k and 4.3k on the final hit and 3k/5k once I build a steady 10 might stacks and spin2win on average 12k- total. Hammer theoretically does more damage but I’m bad, rely on 2 autos after ice appears-dodging and hate having to cancel the third auto-attack to dodge.

Serously. The goal is not to have “downed state auto attack hits like a truck”, but ruther avoid such situations. Of cours is not allways possible and things happen.
If you can play your Berserker very well: it’s really fine! (i just know very few players who really can play a real “Berserker”).
It is the same as with PVT gear, if you know how to play with it, you can do very high damage.

EDIT: all that is – of course – depending on the class you play.
