Hello,

I need to complete 5 more runs in Arah to get the full set on my Norn Warrior.
Today I thought I would do 2/3 runs, however…

Run 1 failed.
Run 2 failed.
Run 3 failed.

What is going on in Arah? None of my parties were capable of killing Lupicus.
Has Lupicus been improved by ArenaNet or have noobs decided to take over Arah parties?

I used to be able to tank Lupicus and get hit like 3/4 times and still survive. This time I couldn’t even survive 2 hits. Yes, sometimes Lupicus was ‘Empowered’ cus my noob team couldn’t even kill the kitten grubs after he went to phase 2.

I’m super frustrated atm cus I’ve lost all hope in completing the last few Arah runs to complete my armor set…

I started practicing solo Lupicus today and I’ve beaten it. I have not felt any extra difficulty. However I did a PuG and everyone else seemed to say that Arah had grown harder, curiously…

I’ve not seen any difference on Lupi but the mobs’ routing & pattern behaviors seem having been changed. The route they patrol are closer to the running path and if you are not careful, you or the NPC will pull them for sure.

Dont be frustrated, you mustve picked bad PUG groups. Happens to the best of us. That’s why I dont run PUGs on arah anymore unless I have at least 3/5 guildies with me. Havent seen any changes to GL to be honest.

tbh i don’t think anything major happened to arah, quality in ppl went down the drain. I’ve failed 4 pug runs today and have no hope anymore. Even if you have 1 or 2 guys who actually know what they are doing, you can’t 2 man the whole dungeon(theoretically you could, but time wise its not efficient). It’s really sad that ppl spoiled by cof 1 button mashing runs are incapable of simple tasks like dodging.

There were major changes on how/when mobs leash. They are now following you till then end of the world it’s pretty annoying.

About Lupicus, you can to get out of combat and regen everytime he lifts in the air in phase 3 without him going out of combat (he will chase you and won’t regen/reset) … that makes no sense.

I have pretty tanky gear on my guardian and I don’t ever remember being able to get hit with more than 2 sparks and stay alive. Nothing has seemed to change attack/damage wise other than him following you out the door or the almost fixed grub mark on players only.

Need to do 2 things for Arah pugs:
1. Dodge and use blocks/reflect/invulnerable skills efficiently
2. Bring revival skills and traits to revive such as battle standard, signet of undeath, guardian/memser bubble on revive traits, etc.

Just practice doing those 2 things and you should be able to help your group through it no matter the skill level of the people you get paired with. As someone who runs Arah daily, the only things that have changed recently (as far as I can tell) are the Crusher and Hunter at the beginning of path 3 and the Simin regen nerf. It may seem like Lupicus has gotten harder because of people in your group being clueless or not really having an optimal group makeup or optimal builds, but my groups generally don’t have any problems with him. I generally only do Arah with guild groups, but I occasionally join PUGs just to see how other people do the dungeon.

One thing you may want to learn and explain to your group is that the grubs can be avoided altogether by dodging his hand raise animation. If you are interested, you may find this video useful, as it explains every threat that Lupicus poses:

One final comment, you probably don’t want to be “tanking” hits from Lupicus, as well-timed dodges will mitigate all of the damage he outputs. If you play a warrior, you may find it easier to stay in melee range of him, because his ranged projectiles will not be able to hit you.

Hopefully all of that is useful to you.

Lupicus tends to pick a target for each of his attacks and stick to them. If he picks someone who can’t dodge you might wipe again and again. If he picks on your experienced dodgers then it’s plain sailing.

From what I’ve experienced, his attacks seem to target different people. For example, his life suck in phase 3 rarely targets my Guardian with 3k Armor, but his bubble in phase 3 almost always targets my Guardian. And even still, if one person in the party continues to go down and can’t dodge, it may be best just to ignore them and stop wasting time rezzing them. There have been several occasions where everyone in my party but me had died because they wanted to be heroes and rez people that couldn’t dodge, which resulted in me soloing him through the rest of the encounter. I guess the point in saying that is that if you don’t feel you can trust pugs, at least be confident enough to know you can solo him if the situation calls for it.

You arent supposed to tank Lupi.

His life suck prioritize ranged ppl while his dome melee ppl. It’s not all about armor value.

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned that as well. Although I still tend to find myself taking the most aggro with the bubble when I play my Guardian, even though the rest of of my group is in melee range too.

Same for phase 3 however I’ve always played with a scepter whether I stand close or far but it’s been awhile since I last played Guardian at Lupi. So maybe it targets ppl with ranged weapons rather than just the distance.

We should try to do it with a full group and play GS/hammer things like that to figure this out.

You seem to misunderstand the meaning of disorganized and sloppy.

If you ever need a run of Arah any path except 4 (easy, but too long and tedious) and I’m online and not busy, hit me up. My guild does this dungeon when we feel like it and we do p2 and p3 in 20-25 minutes max with whatever classes we feel like bringing at the time.

Pubs make this dungeon suck, but a good group goes a long way.

We held world record at 1:46 for a whopping 2 days until DnT came along. So much for being a bunch of sloppy disorganized drunkards in guildchat.

Sub-100 second Lupus kills boil down to more RNG than skill. You gotta get lucky on his barrages even more than placing a correct dome/wall/aegis/stability.

Strife’s record is 1:24m w/ an organized group and well awake. You guys on another hand are drunk and disorganized with 1:35m kill. That’s very impressive with 11 sec differences and no doubt a world record for a drunk group. And I know you are a very good player which also extends to your group.

btw, how do you define drunk & disorganized? USA official alcohol content in blood level? 1 beer? Disorganized as if you have never played w/ each other before in killing Lupi? No team chat whatsoever?

I’m not putting you on the spot but do you know a video w/ slurred voices of players killing Lupi would build a ton of confidences to inexperienced players across all dungeons, not just Arah. Seriously, look at all the AC posts and you know what I’m talking about. Fun for you and a lot of good laugh for others. Just don’t drive after killing Lupi though.

After clearing the “new” AC in a whopping 80 minutes including taking an enormous amount of 5 minutes to learn Ghost Eater, I disregard these posts as “OH NOES DEY TOOK MUH BUCKET”. Although just because of the new Grast feature of going full Leeroy and GE still featuring out, I chose TA over AC in terms of dosh/hour

I think you misinterpret what I’ve said. I might take what you claim that your group killing Lupi in 1:35m as a world record for a drunk group but others might think w/o a video, it’s not happening. A video w/ players in slurred voice killing Lupi definitely a fun one to watch.
And good as confidence boost for newbies.

Whoever created Lup is my hero. Now can I have my plush Lupi backpack skin?
