Why are dynamic events outside dungeons?
yeah i will never understand this stupidity.
I like it from a lore point of view, it would feel a bit wierd If I could just stroll into a bosses hideout or the Inquests secret lair, then again it is a bit annoying when it takes too long to do that stroll.
I wouldn’t mind the dungeons being closed and having to take the time to open them back up if the DE’s wouldn’t bug out so much, leaving the dungeon closed permanently until a server reset….namely arah at the moment on SBI.
After completing Story Mode of said dungeon you should be allowed to skip the events and head straight into explorable mode.
Yeah when they first mentioned explorable mode I thought it would be more like an instanced version of the ‘open world’ akin to explorable areas in GW1 of the factions/nightfalls with more challenge. Instead we got fixed dungeon paths labelled as explorable and the ‘events’ they talked about back in the dungeon blog ages ago didn’t seem to make it in
“GW2’s PvE is almost as bad as the PvP.”
Simple reason is that because dungeons have no cooldowns.
I just wish they wouldn’t run so often. It seems like half the time I want to do CoF it’s contested.
With how frequently the avg mmo server gets reset/patched/whatever, it would be significantly better if the dungeon had to be opened ONCE by a large group of people and then remained open until the next server reset.

I’ve only done one dungeon, Arah, and we could zone right in, so pardon my ignorant question… about how long does it take complete the dynamic event blocking access to a dungeon entrance?

I would completely understand it… if the player-created Results of nearly all Events, lasted more than half an hour when there’s only NPC defenders guarding. Say the the smaller ones lasted 3 hours (Dragon Generals excluded b/c we all know they should actually be on a Chain that can be intentionally reset by players every hour if they bring together some Items power or completed multiplayer JP’s, or whatever)
…but the really major “group” events like Temples & Dungeon entrances….
…Well those just need much stronger NPC defenders right now and a more in-depth and visible territory control mechanic. IE: It should work like a 12 hour water-clock where the Enemy forces gradually start building up encampments outside the objective and the only way for them to overrun your NPC defenders is for them to get away with 12 straight hours of Troop build-up in those enemy camps. Sorta like WvWvW. The current system may actually be incentivizing completely legit players to multibox certain defense points just to do what the NPC’s should be doing on their own right now.

At least lower the frequency at which they are happening! Every time I want to run CoF it’s contested because there is no one there to defend the Gates of Flame. And since we failed to defend, we have to wait for the escort Razen event to start. God knows how long that’s going to take…All of this effort to run CoF. Then I finish the run, come back out to find it’s contested again…it’s dumb!
