There are always sour apples in the basket but, I have noticed they have been increasing in numbers..Some people haven’t finished the story, or would like to at least listen to the dialogue and some people just cannot understand that for the life of them. Sad to say, during a fractal. Towards the end, some warrior died and everyone tried their best to revive him and after literally 2 minutes " you guys are useless" and leaves. WHO DOES THAT?! I mean, you were in the instance for 2 hours, and you leave at the last boss because you died and couldn’t wait to be revived. I have also been kicked out of a instance because midway of Arah I didn’t know what to do because I never ran that path. I told them in advance and they said " Just do what we do" after doing so they’re response, " wtf are you doing, WTF ARE YOU DOING " and I got kicked out. I mean it’s a game, shouldn’t we all have fun? I just don’t understand why people waste their time in a instance, only to ragequit halfway or in some cases like recently, at the end.

It happens in PUGs.

Try to do dungeons with guildies and with some voice-chat service. Makes dungeon runs a lot more bearable for both sides (begginers and vets).

It’s the internet (see youtube comments, comments to yahoo news stories, etc.). I don’t know what’s up with some people these days. They feel superior by putting others down for some reason. Don’t let them bring you down.

Make some friends. Learn and develop your skills with them. I enjoy my daily dose of dungeon runs with people that can laugh at their mistakes, learn some new tricks, and take in the experience.

Don’t take what random inpatient losers say on the Internet to heart sweetie. Try to make some nice friends that will teach you and you can go play with regularly, it really makes the game much more fun when you have people you know and trust to play with.

Good luck.

From what I’ve been able to tell, Guild Wars has been doing its best to promote community and open mindedness. At least for me, this is a wonderful stance to take in light of those infamous parts of the internet. Take comfort in the fact that there are people who enjoy talking to others in chat, showing them a trick or two, helping out people in completing story mode, or taking dungeon paths for the first time.

And yes I agree that some people need to learn that anonymity is no license for losing one’s ability to be a tolerable human being.

The Internet and gaming allows them to live out there superiority fantasys from a place of anonymity, without the consequences they would face in real life if they acted that way. Feel good that you still have some real life self worth and don’t have to act like those gamers.

Nowadays they are just as mean to each other as they are to others in RL.

It’s because they’re anonymous and they know they can get away with being a jerk online. They only think of themselves and don’t think about how it will make the person on the other side feel.

Just try not to let it get to you too much and move on.

Just have to take it with a grain of salt. Yes there are some bad players. There are some good ones too. Best thing to do is move on as quickly as you can and find another group.

Grouping with guildies isn’t always an option. I’m in a pretty large guild now and rarely group with them because nobody has much of a repoir with each other. Ideally you would want 4 or 5 guildies to do dungeons with regularly but thats hard to find even in a big guild. At least its been that way for me. Besides I’ve been in some fantastic PUG groups that I wish I could group with those guys all the time. Its just the nature of PUG’s. You never know what you will get.

WoW throwaways, I think. Most of them come to the game with the same mentality that makes WoW and games like it so unfun.

Not to overly generalize, I’ve met many nice former WoW players. But even more not so nice.

Welcome to Guild Wars, MMO #8543 hope you enjoy your stay. I hope you don’t expect some kind of happy fun land here, because you will find none of that. You should learn to get used to the verbal abuse and think long and hard on why you all failed. Then get better. Really, that’s the best advice I can give you. Personally something that really annoys me is that people can join via gw2lfg site and still have no clue of what to do with lupicus (Man! You found that site and could’t find a quick arah tutorial?!) . When you run dungeons first time like in first months of gw2 people reasonably could forgive anything because there was a lot to be discovered, but now it’s pretty unexcusable to join dungeons cluelessly with the amount of data people have at disposition (Either from guildies or youtube/wikia).
I do understand that there are some limits at “jerking” but there are some on being “uninformed” too (Playing bad is still another thing) . Anyone who started recently should follow Isslair’s advice. Really helps both sides a lot. Let it be running dungeons, WvWing or enjoying the game.
(Don’t join “huge” guilds or it’ll be the same thing as without one)

Asked one guy to not aggro sparks when fighting Simin (really, that’s it, didn’t use any nasty words or anything) and he rage-quit AFTER we killed her. I even tried to persuade him come back and he called me “border peep”.

Ok here’s what you do: go on YouTube and watch a speed clear video of your choice (strife is slightly outdated though the guides are very newbie friendly). Step 2, join an experienced only group. Step 3, clear the dungeon, nobody bats an eyelid and you sit there confused that experienced pugs are actually just as terrible as any other and you were playing better than them all.

All I can say is: Do NOT join a speedrun/experienced group if you are not kittening experienced. They won’t like you, and you won’t like them, so save everyone some time and read the LFG before joining.

Seriously 90% of the players don’t read what’s written in the LFG and then are confused why were they kicked or what the kitten is going on.

If you join a speedrun and you ask for advice is not as bad, but you are still hopping in on the train to get CARRIED, no matter how much you deny it.

Nah.

What this game needs to address is the lack of CHALLENGING content.

Current dungeons are way too easy, and very dull mechanics-wise. And you wonder why the hell people only care about finishing a boring dungeon? You think people have fun fighting bosses with no particular difficulty whatsoever? Because we don’t.

It’s both, actually. Both dungeon rewards and the dungeon designs themselves need to be reworked in order to make the content as valuable as the reward for getting through it.

He isn’t talking about rewards, it isn’t about rewards. Content can be as difficult as you make it. Setting difficult goals for easy content is the only way to challenge yourself and have fun as a competitive gamer in this game.

That was the exact point that I was making; that the game needs to make people want to play through the content for the experience of going through it rather than just for the things you get by doing it.

Had fun run today, no idea how it even makes any sense:
->opened CoF p2
->soloed lava part (since i am a thief)
->at the door where you need to kill assassins, my entire team kept dying except for me
->got agro from boss on last fight, warrior said he wants agro so i went invis to drop it
->they called me stupid, kittened and what not and that i die all the time (what? i died only 1 time in entire dungeon)
-> they kicked me from dungeon on last boss, but since i opened it they all got kicked too…

being accused of something i haven’t done, being called names and kicked, i love pugs

I think the problem stems from poor dungeon design. As it stands, it’s all about damage and speed. The stacking, the exploits, the magical spots to stand. It’s rather cheesy. Poor design enables players to crash through the dungeons in order to get their sweet loot. It strikes me as cheesy. These are certainly not your WoW dungeons; in many ways, they make me miss a trinity.

I wish Anet would just redesign the dungeons and put up roadblocks like they had in the Tower of Nightmares. I would also kind of like it if the mobs followed you through the whole dungeon, thereby forcing you to fight them. Frankly, I think the experience would be better if the ability to speed run was simply abrogated. It’s a pity such a wonderful combat system is wasted in these dungeons.

But, it is efficient; until a redesign forces a change, it is going to be all about getting to the end as fast as possible, and newby be kitten ed. Perhaps, in exchange for abrogating a rush playstyle, the mobs can have a higher chance to drop loot or coin.

sorry but i take offense on that, i have bin picked on my whole life yet i am among the most friendly player around.
if someone dies i rather revive the player then care for the gold reward, if someone is about to die i join in and help the person.
i even had a time in SW:ToR where i was just killing low level champions for fun and gave the high end rewards away to low levels just so they have something to ether use or sell, if that’s not nice then i don’t know.

When any game becomes a grind (for materials, gold, ilevel, whatever), its population starts becoming more and more biased towards “grinders” (I mean people who only care about increasing some numbers, not smartphone-wielding gay gentlemen). And grinders, as a rule, see other players as a tool to advance their own (somewhat autistic) goals.

The ironic part is that most of those grinders are actually horrible players, with very little awareness, who can only do fights in a specific way (which often isn’t even the fastest, and certainly not the most fun), and all they do is repeat that again and again and again (and then whine whenever something changes and their repetitive “tactics” stops working).

Sadly, with the introduction of ascended junk, Arena Net has made it pretty clear that they will be catering to that crowd, so PUGs will probably be getting worse, not better.

Solution? Join a guild run by someone civilised (or start your own), and / or make good (ideally preemptive) use of your block list.

That’s why I really hope the dungeons are changed to curb/terminate the speed run crowd. It should be a nice adventure through the dungeon. They need better mobs and mob placement, as well as roadblocks. The exp’s simply need to be more like the story dungeons. The story dungeons are actually quite entertaining, and people kill things! I wonder if explorable mode was rushed in order to get the game out. If it’s working as intended, then it is—unfortunately—a model for how dungeons should not be made. I’m sure someone at arenanet realizes that many of the explorable paths are kind of tacky.

what you dont seem to get is that stacking = forcing enemies to group up around a corner, the only way around this is to make a completely flat dungeon with no turns, pillars, or objects of any kind (picture a rectangular box)

I don’t ask for much from dungeon pubs, but I do ask this:

  • Try
  • Listen
  • Read the LFG description

I enjoy dungeons because I enjoy doing a billion dps, seeing enemies melt, and playing this game like the action game that it is. Stacking is not an exploit, skipping is not an exploit, and strategies that require precision and timing and proper pulls are FUN for me. What isn’t fun is when I advertise my group this way and a “play how I want to” joins anyway, refuses to listen, and cries and moans when he downs repeatedly because he doesn’t listen, and then proceeds to get everyone else killed by either overaggroing or breaking a mob stack.

If you want to run around and do whatever you like unlike what I’ve mentioned above, please make your own LFG post, and please say those things in your LFG post. I will not join your groups, and you will not join mine, and both of us are the wiser for it. The “mean people” aren’t “elitists” nor are they “casuals”, they are people who don’t listen, don’t read, or just don’t try. Those are the real problem children in pubs, and I kick them out of my groups with utmost specificity. Hopefully I’m not the only one, either!

You could just make it so the enemies get nasty when you do this. I think it has a time and a place for some fights, but it’s annoying that it is often the best option in most dungeon fights. I also think there’s a difference between the kind of stack you do on a boss like the spider queen and the kind of stack you do on the legendary clockheart (assuming everyone melees.) The latter somehow seems more appropriate, perhaps because the fight is in the sort of space you described.
