Why should someone re-do Story modes?!
I re-do story modes all the time to help friends/ guildies and maybe the occasional stranger. Yes, theres little incentive. I dont mind HotW story. That being said, you need to join a guild that will help you.
Well, HotW, for one, has like 935798896273 blue and green loot drops, since it’s quite a long instance and contains pretty much only silver ring mobs, so it’s an adequate side compensation.
CoE is simply bothersome, almost at TA levels, though with less spiders, thankfully. People ran CoE Exp less commonly than any other instance (as far as I’ve observed), so I doubt CoE Story will have much of an audience.
but the current engine doesn’t support moving platforms… Oh well!
I am going to assume you haven’t finished the Personal Story/Arah Story Mode.

I have a hard time finishing the normal ones, but If it’s anything like the Mad kings clock towner, with mysterious loadings and/or cutscenes poping when boarding the ships, know then that that was an Illusion by an A-net’s mesmer. It’s a common trick used in video games where the world is moving instead of the vehicle. In the Arah instance, do you ever see a player or mob falling behind because the platform you are is moving forward?
I haven’t tried many story mode dungeons. TBH I haven’t finished a single one. In the case of AC, I found Explo to be easier than Story :S
I do story modes on my alts to let them open explorable instances in the future.
But if you need to do story mode now, find a helpful guild or look for puggies for a longer while before entering.
i am fairly sure the ships are moving in arrah story, not the world,
i jumped off them like a billion times because the fall was long and funny, but each time, i fell in a straight ling on the same map point, and the rest of the party moved with the ship away from me
hell, jumping off the airships in arrah was the only amusing and decent part of the story path, totally better then that ending >.<
It doesn’t make sence how in the whole game, desperetly in need of moving platforms to become a little more epic and fun, Arah is the the only place where a flat horisontal platform is moving. Also it doesnt make sense how you go straight down when jumping from a ship, when normally you should travel a bit to the direction the ship was going since it had a certain speed already.
I’ll have to work my kitten (and empty my program) to find groups and finish those bloody story modes to see for my self!
The only enjoiable storymode till now was CoF and SE (with the exception of Kudu, and of course the obvious problem of everything taking eons to fall).
You shouldn’t have to do them in the first place.
The “story” in them is not relevant enough to be put into the actual narrative of the personal story, but somehow it’s relevant enough to people who want to farm explorable mode.
@Unrepentant
That was just the first part to the story, Destiny’s Edge are being set up to be the main characters. Dungeon Story Mode and Personal Story Mode will just get more and more closely linked.
You can get legendary pre cursors from story mode chests – yes rare but friend got the energiser from AC story – you have to be L80 though for the loot to scale up to you.

Both are well thought, but poorly writen and poorly delivered anyway…
I wonder if A-net would ever fix the poorly delivered story in a future patch or expansion. And if they do, I wonder if they ever bother to fix the old content.

I can agree to the game needing more “epic and fun” but I don’t see how moving platforms would help. As for falling down straight it makes sense as far as the rest of the game is concern, momentum does not exist in Tyria. You can make turns in the middle of a jump or move backwards.
Arah story mode didn’t seem very difficult or have much in the way of cheap gimmicks other than good old ‘red circles, everywhere!!!!!’. It’s just a long and boring. At least you weren’t stuck with the depressing green thing.
