How ever they decide to fix this, I don’t think zerker gear should be nerfed. Instead, they should make healing and armor more effective. Because a lot of high level bosses now do practically the same damage against zerkers, as they do to fully armored players. THAT is the problem in my opinion. Why would anyone bring armor, when you practically receive the same damage anyway?

Knowing anet buff/nerf logic they’ll increase the hp of enemy mobs so zerkers don’t burn through them as quickly.

I joined today fotm group who were looking for “experienced people (no bers)”. We got to Mossman and they wanted to use a safespot. It was really slow, especially when Mossman was running back and forth. Then Mossman teleported in, gouged and killed everyone (no one dodged).

And that point I just said them “Not impressed” and left.

However, that was a wrong move. If anything, what they just did could be compared to forcing two rival gangs into the same room.

Seriously, though, I actually support the people that want to keep the zerker meta. These are people that want their skill in PvE rewarded by playing builds that can capitalize on it, and I’d like to see SOME content remain rewarding for these players. I just think there should be alternatives.

Indeed, I really hope than rather than nerfing zerker gear’s effectivity, they will somehow increase other specs’ viability in dungeons.

I also fail to understand why some people seem to be happy about the possibility of zerker becoming useless. I find it perverse and selfish to celebrate others’ money, time and effort going down the sink. If these are the people that complain about elitist jerks kicking them out of groups, I surely am not sorry for them.

With whatever fix they dream up, as long as skilled play is still rewarded, players will still come up with optimal builds under the new setting, and people like Nemesis will still be unhappy that some people excel above others.

If the fix is so dramatic that skilled play is no longer rewarded, and the game turns into gimmicky puzzles and time gates etc., then gw2 will lose many players.

Aetherblade path is fun and the “new” fractals were stuff we already had.
Some puzzles are alright if also paired with challenging content.

Could be, but the game isn’t targeting uberskilled players in the first place so it seems to me that any change made to the meta that allows for people to move away from a small subset of optimized builds favouring highly-skilled players makes sense.

The op makes some really good points. Fantastic points in fact. The problem w it is that we all live the real world and nobody wants to spend 3hrs per dungeon taking in the beautiful landscaping, savoring every mob. I have yet to meet a role player, and if I do… im not sure that they are contributing a lot to society outside of this game.

I’d venture to say that the vast majority of GW2 players, regardless of whether they’re dungeon runners, WvW’ers, RPers, PvPers or open worlders, do not contribute a lot to society outside of having a job and paying their bills. :P

I have two neighbors that are hardcore WoW players. One is an RPer, actually a really good guy, makes 6 digits a year, slightly socially odd but quite likable with nice kids. He’s a good neighbor and active in the community (more so than myself to be sure). He even snowblows my sidewalks and driveway in the winter because I don’t have a snowblower.

The other guy says he gets paid to play other peoples WoW accounts, which may or may not be true. But he rarely leaves the house, his house and yard are an utter mess and he’s a slob (reminds me of the WoW kitten in the WoW South Park episode) albeit a seemingly nice guy.

I’m somewhere in between these guys, keep a clean house and yard, make average income, don’t volunteer at the local shelter and make few donations. Pretty average all round.

I think how you play a video is not necessarily indicative of your lifestyle. And, man, so funny listening to those guys talk about WoW, nerdiest stuff I ever heard.

  • The kick function has now been removed. Now when someone joins your party you must accommodate them and whichever build they decide to run. This is to create a better sense of community.
  • To leave a party formed using the LFG tool one must wait approximately 1 hour. This is to ensure that dungeons are completed within an appropriate time as has always been intended. This also ensures that anyone who thinks they can just ‘up and leave’ a party because they think it’s full of ‘bads’ will stop and have a serious think about why they are playing this game.
  • The use of ‘damage’ gear sets.

This has been a serious issue for us and we feel that ’damage gear sets fall into this category:

Any gear sets that have power or precision stats are considered damage sets

These gear sets were initially designed for people to try out as they leveled up and then to be discarded as they realized that survivability sets were clearly what was intended to be used in dungeons. This unfortunately is not the case and we have seen a rather large explosion of the populace take these gear sets into dungeons. We are very clear on this. This is an exploit. Damage sets, and in particular ‘Berserker’ will not be tolerated within the confines of dungeons.

  • Added a code that detects the use of berserker gear in dungeons and forwards this information along with all combat logs to an appropriate administrator.
  • Added Aetherblade mobs to every dungeon path. This is required so that living failure story can be incorporated into the one place that hardcores thought they could avoid it.
  • Added a new combat function. Whenever players come within a 100 radius of one another they receive a debuff called ‘stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself! Why are you hitting yourself!?’

This debuff will cause immediate knock back in a random direction followed by a prompt death. This is discourage the exploit of stacking before we have to take more drastic measures such as banning accounts.

  • Added a new NPC to every dungeon path. If this NPC dies, the dungeon will bug out be required to be restarted. This is a change required to create a more immersive atmosphere for the audience that dungeons were initially designed for: Roleplayers.
  • Added chuck the Bartender to every dungeon path. One must type ‘/emote Chuck, please fix my armor!’ to repair their gear. This npc replaces the pre existing repair anvils.
  • Removed Giganticus Lupicus from all paths of Arah. It has come to our attention that this boss fight does not come close to anything we outlined in out initial design manifesto. Furthermore, those who solo’d this boss are to recieve punishment for ‘exploiting’ as per our agreement with the lfg white knight kickers who have far more knowledge than us on who and who does not exploit along with how it is done.
  • This fight has now been replaced with an underwater combat area in which players will face off against an ancient underwater dredge car that spits out aetherblade mobs. So what would replace zerker style high dps gameplay? bosses are still going to one shot or hit hard enough that barely a few more seconds are bought. Conditions are still rubbish, stacking means your hard hitting bleeds are knocked off by someone pressing anything off cooldown. So everyone face tanks the same slow moving, telegraphed attacks.

Its amazing really, for all the bluster about “no trinity” they appeared to make all the dungeons and npcs based upon the same concepts used in trinity type games. Tank and spank, move out of the red rings and avoid the big swinging hits.

Everything will be a variation on that same theme, simply lowering the amount of time to react to make something more difficult. More red rings to avoid to make it harder. Ultimately GW2 isnt bringing anything new in the instance content than other games are already doing better. Maybe if they stopped trying to copy WoW dungeon style this problem would leave. Trash, boss trash boss. Trash that gives crap gear drops for the most part might I add.

Yeah, nerfing zerker would be a high priority, thats whats really wrong with this game, too much damage!

Actually, that was a myth pushed onto us by PVT baddies because they don’t even know how to build a decent tank/healer trait and gear set up. In truth, it makes the game even more faceroll, just takes a lot longer.

They didn’t dodge even once in that video. Just think about how more faceroll it’d be even if you were dodging 100% randomly.

The fact that the average “Iamahealer” and “Iamatank” still dies a lot in pugs is evidence of how incredibly bad they are. Of course they are going to hate zerk, and ask for it to be nerfed, because they can’t even handle to play this game in faceroll mode. They see other people do a lot better and thus fall into the sour grapes fallacy. "Hmm these grapes must taste great.. oh, I can’t get up there! they must’ve been sour anyway. turns back "
