Excuse me, but isn’t a build a COMBINATION of your gear, traits, maybe even consumables?? So how can you say that “zerker” isn’t a build when it’s clearly PART of a build?

Let’s look at it this way. Take any of the dungeon speedclearing metas and subtract Berserker gear. Do they work? Of course not. Well, people can’t keep saying 0/1/2/3/4/5 or 50/106/140/2340/5190?? or PX/90/E=MC2 when talking about these meta builds. So they call them, collectively, “zerker.” What’s wrong with that?

I blame ANet’s lack of tools to bundle builds into convenient packages that can be easily named. Call it “TEH SMASHWRECKER” and link to gw2skills.net, which has all the parts of the build (including gear).

It comes across a bit more clearly in the example I provided. Again, in a post that may or may not be serious, I was trying to defend the close association Berserker gear has with the max DPS/speedclear meta builds, and how are those defined? By the numerical Trait distribution. Yet Traits are only one part of a build, just like gear, so if they can be associated with a particular build, why can’t the gear? If I have zerker gear, I’m going with a DPS build. If I have PVT gear, I’m going with a different kind of build. So on, so forth. Everyone knows what you mean when you say “zerker build”.

i hate zerker players who need constant rezzing in dungeons, and drop like kitten everytime the trash mobs sneeze at them..

Yah I know this is supposed to be a joke but….he’s not wrong. there seems to be a group out there(and in this forum) who preached DPS over all. There was a thread literally rewriting bible passages into berserker worship.

(yes people I am back and have taken some time to get a grip and realize how much of a jerk me -and- the people I was arguing with were, to those innocent hurt, I apologize, but making a thread about it would be a waste of time)

I have never seen people say DPS only. People say run the PvE Dungeon DPS builds. Which if you look has not only DPS but support and defensive attributes too. That includes, traits and utilities.

Also, not to get too serious, many/most of the dungeon running builds do not spec purely in to the 3 attributes of berserker, but rather go for percent damage increases. For example rangers go 5 in to a trait line that provides vitality and boon duration. :-O
