Wouldn’t it be a great idea to use combo’s as a mechanic in raids?

Just an idea like:

You fighting in a cave with no light source. The first 30 sec you have light. but after those 30 sec the light goes out for some reason. So you need to light torches at the edge of the cave before the light goes out to still have light in the cave and the only way to light a torch is by a fire field + projectile finisher. so in this case each 30 sec someone of some people need to create a fire projectile combo to light up the torch

Ok I know it would be stupid because why can’t an elementalist staff 3 in fire (forgot the skill xD) light the torches? Whell maybe it cannot burn throug the use of magic or so. But I think it would be a great idea especcially when you can code it that the person who places down the combo field needs to be someone else then the person who uses the combo finisher. Otherwise most combo’s can be achieved by 1 class and it wouldn’t be as fun as when you need to use 2 people imo.

Nice idea. I’ll try to weave it a little further.

How about a sort of “elementally locked” gate. In front of it there are 4 recepticals each for a different condition (e.g. Burn, poison, bleed, vulnerability; all rather common) each of them has to be activated by applying the correct condition in the correct order for a certain duration. The “PIN” could randomly change every run.

Or is that too gimmicky? I know a lot of ppl already find the ghost river annoying, but I want to see something in a raid that has me actually use my brain other than “Stand in this circle or you die”.

Something pretty much like this exists in Blade and Soul, and it’s not a bad thing really in my experience. The difference in BnS though is that instead of different conditions, it’s types of CC.

The way CC works in some of their new dungeons, is depending on the mob colour you have to use a specific form of CC (otherwise it does nothing), i.e.

- You have to CC 3 mobs in a certain time or the boss enrages and does a huge attack
- The 3 mobs that spawn have a random colour (Blue or Green), depending on the colour, you had to do a knockdown or a daze

So in a similar vein the same could be said for any of the CC’s we have in game in GW2, or as you say, different conditions.

The idea could be annoying, but I’m all up for bringing in more mechanics that really test peoples knowledge of their class and the skills/traits that they can bring to the table. A good example of this is in the Matthias fight, where you have to use burning to remove the icy patches, whilst it’s not a huge mechanic, it does bring some flavour to bringing a class that can burn efficiently.
