10k drinks [Merged]
Required to consume 10,000 drinks for this achievement that’s a requisite for the new Shoulder piece.
Are you mad?
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Nop, 10000 times better than nightfury. Also this is kind of a pun Anet throw at us so I’ll just have some Wintersday spirit and suck it up. After all it’s a one time thing.
You can “consume all” on them. Save them up and use up a stack with each click.
ANet may give it to you.
Having flashbacks to “Incorrigible Ale-Hound” acquisition. Weeeeeeeee!
At least you don’t have to wait for a fricking timer between drinks to get the associated points.
Let the good times roll!

Oh! Yay

Thank god for that, still a shame the drinks are expensive.

…. GOD, so did I just won’t through so much unnecessary pain to click it 10k times and almost killed my finger? T-T

Yep, I remember those days. Glad I got that over and done with, mostly during the timer days.

Yeah, I had mine done before they changed how that worked in GW1. Even tried the whole mapping thing to earn extra points and such. After they implemented just drinking it for points, thus cutting out the waiting, I was mildly peeved. Same when they changed the tonics for Party Animal. I don’t know how many hours I’d spent popping from map to map and popping tonics for points. sigh
Oh god, I remember warping to that golem lab to spam tonics, swapping guild halls through the alliance with disco balls and fireworks, timing drinks and sacrificing myself to death over and over to spam pumpkin cookies (reminds me how I miss GW1 Blood is Power)… And you guys complain about some clicking?! Trust me, it’s better this way. It really is.

Lol. I remember the party animal one. Pop Tonic, change map, pop tonic, change map, pop tonic, change map,…..
It became a trifle tedious after a stack or two of tonics.
ANet may give it to you.
sigh Ahh nostalgia….. Ah, good memories. wipes away tear
Bottoms up!

Chug! Chug! Chug!
Why do so many people have an issue with this? All I can say is “About kitten time!”
You can do “consume all” to use a stack at a time.
(And check the forum to see if someone else has posted about it)
ANet may give it to you.
Yeah I had to read that again as I thought I was seeing things.
Holiday events are supposed to be silly/fun little stuffs, not massive endeavors.
All other mmos get it. Oh well doesn’t surprise me though considering history.
Soooo… basically if you’re a casual gamer and/or have something more to do the coming days you’re not getting the shoulders… that’s great, well done Anet

Consuming it is not the problem, its acquiring it.
I can repeat the JP three times and i get a collection item .
I can win the snowball mayhem three times and get a collection item
But this collection which basically should be at the same level requires 10k drinks = 500-600 g or 333 drinks per day if we assume event last 30 days
Something is wrong here

Are you required to get and consume all the drinks in 30 days?

As for the 600g, can you buy karma alcohol? Maybe that has a consume all option added. It’s worth a checking out.

(Looks at the requirements for the Nightfury shoulders)
You didn’t actually think that they would have this new Holiday shoulders easily available for the masses now, did you? So far that’s not what they’ve been doing.
ANet may give it to you.

This I don’t actually mind. Brings back memories of Guild Wars. lol
Just in the little time I’ve played (about an hour), I’ve already accumulated over 100+ points towards this. So it shouldn’t take too long for the hardcore players. Only a few days at most for the casual. And that’s just from opening gifts.
This is actually much nicer than Nightfury.

Oh man. That GW1 drink delay thing. Drove me mad.
Psh, I used the “Drunkard Bot” time/click program that circulated my way sometime in 2007.
Those who already got Thirst Slayer should automatically get this one….

It’s tied to the festival achievements which, as far as I’m aware, go away when the event is over.
Nope, it’s just the Wintersday drinks that count so you only get them from the presents or the trading post.
Why do so many people have an issue with this? All I can say is “About kitten time!”
That title is easy mode now that you can spam drinks

NOW Sure, but that’s entirely beside the point.

And you posting a gw1 achievement is somehow relevant to this current achievement? Seemed more like a subtle brag

sigh I’m not even going to bother attempting to explain. You just won’t get it with that attitude. Other people understood me.
There are returning and new permanent Wintersday achievements as well as new daily achievements.
This makes me think the 10k won’t be reset yearly. Means no one will die of alcohol poisoning as 10k drinks in 30 days would take down even the toughest of Norns.
dragons, I sometimes wonder if we’ll ever find a way to save us from ourselves.”
Maybe this is a hint of Jormag’s weakness. Alcohol poisoning.
Picturing Norn: One for me, two for Jormag, one for me, five for Jormag, one for me, three for Jormag…
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

lol thank you for the mental image of playing belcher’s bluff with Jormag

100% right, every MMO I play seem to get it right, they make the content fun and add things to do each year.
Arena Net do not add content but add achievements that require massive grind to disguise the fact that nothing is new. But as you said, this kind of disappointment is to be expected considering history.
But this collection which basically should be at the same level requires 10k drinks = 500-600 g or 333 drinks per day if we assume event last 30 days
Besides the fact that it will probably cost you a lot of cash, you are also spending a lot of time doing the wintersday events and being frustrated or bickering about it.
With the end result being everyone forgetting the basic issues ingame that people were talking about before the event.
“I got a drink in my right hand, so don’t look at what i’ve got in my left hand (nothing cause we aint giving it).” But chug away and forget the rest.
Want to get through the event the easy way ? Simple :
- do the events that get your your achievements rather quick
- get your rewards and save them up till you have a bundle, then sell it all
- spend no longer then 1 hour each day in DR doing all that until you get the attainable achievements, then stop.
- Play the rest of the game and hope you gain something from the event.
p.s. : i got a nice exotic rebreather for my druid, so i’m already good. Wintersday (singular) was a success, moving on.

At first I thought the achievement was for 1000 drinks, which seemed alright given the time Wintersday is running. But I failed to see that it goes to Tier 5, which is 10k drinks!
That’s just insane! Especially when all the others have you win 3 times or beat Jormag 3 times and some items from the MF that take 50 of certain ingredients.
If I had known these shoulders would cost me either 600g or take 10 years of excessive ingame alcohol consumption I wouldn’t have bothered with this collection at all.
Fojja – Vyxxi – Nymmra – Mymmra – Champion of Dwayna .. and more
Highly Over Powered Explorers [HOPE] – Desolation EU
ANet must have gotten smashed before they decided on that requirement.
RIP characters to alcohol poisoning.
lol first 3 hrs of day 1 in a 3 week event – complaint of achievement too hard. that should be a achievement within itsself
Guild Wars 2 = Grind,Grind,Grind,Grind,Fixed a server crash,Grind,Grind,Grind,Grind,Grind,POLISH bug,bug,bug,Grind,Grind,Grind,Grind,Grind, server crash,bug,……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………guild wars 2 the best mmo ever,seriously.

There’s nothing hard in paying 600g for an achievement. It’s just distasteful.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
That number does seem awfully high.
Remember, though, that Wintersday has just started, and tons of people are rushing to get their drink on ASAP. Demand is super high, and supply has only just begun.
I don’t know what the final price will be, but I’m hoping it’ll be affordable by the end of the event.

Paying 600g? Yeah sure, if you want it on day 1. Prices will rush down as every rich fella who wants to get everything as soon as possible reaches the 10k. The supply however will stay or even increase.
I’m pretty sure that you could buy enough drinks for 300g in about 2 weeks. But of course you can simply get them through presents, if you don’t like simply paying for an achievement.
edit: oh well, who could have known that someone is faster than me @2AM x_X
All I have left is 9.5k left of drinking to do. 10k is a bit high imo and 5k is more reasonable but whatever it takes to be the 5% who actually get this item. Prices will hopefully decline to a degree, lets hope.
Drinks have a hidden drunken point value like in GW 1; Not all drinks are created equal!
jeeej grind wars 2 again how typical. how dare they sell gw2 saying its not grindy and release stuff like this is beyond me.
This is clearly not meant to be done by everyone participating in the festival.
Only as a gold sink for those with more 500g or more to spare.
