350 hours and not BORED! Details inside.
pretty much think the same way, my plan is probably gonna try and get full exotic gear, being it dungeons or crafting. then after that i will start doing all the explorables for the heck of it, since the challenge is allways fun !
Only 250 hours here, playing since day 1. I tried playing Black Mesa when it came out, but after only half an hour I was craving GW2 again. I still feel like I’ve only just started and there is so much left to do _.
Well first things first, YES I have no life and YES I could be considered a “fanboy”. However, with this being said I am still having trouble putting the game down for more then an hour even after near 350 hours of play. Let’s be honest how many people have done every explorable dungeon line with ease (excluding bugged ones). I know I haven’t.
When it comes to PvE I want to figure out what we as a player-base are doing wrong in these dungeons. It’s hard to find people who will do dungeons and try different builds to complete them easily. The common response is why would I do that when X dungeon is so EASY. So all those people seeking endgame how about helping the community and I figure out how to do some of these paths like CoF path 2.
As for PvP, which I have barely touched, I can see myself sinking hundreds of hours there, but again it is hard to find people who actually want to play SPvP. Most people think WvW is the limit to PvP which by the way, anyone willing to actually pose a threat to HoD?
So my challenge to all the endgame seekers is to figure out a way to do these “hard” dungeons and share your knowledge and help the community. If that isn’t for you then start a guild and max it out and try to dominate in WvW.
Provided a screenshot of hours played.
Thanks for your time.
Why in gods name would i want to run those terrrible dungeons. THERE IS NO POINT!
First, no rewards. For me, just finishing a dungeon is not a reward. A small achievement
which you cant share with anyone. No way to link achieves yet. So plz tell me. Why do any dungeon if you dont want the skins….that is not end game. thats kitten poor attempt to lengthen shallow content. Hey guess what too. Im a gw2 fanboy! But im not a blind stupid one. Raving over things that should be chastized not defended just b/c ive been playin gw since gw1 beta. Only fools do such a thing…
Alright sir, I assume you haven’t seen the reddit post, so I will link it here. Respond back when you have read it and tell me what you think, maybe it will open your eyes, just a little. Oh and try not to get mad.
I do the dungeons because they are hard and having just a challenge is all I live for and the accomplishment involved is better than the loot. The title is my proof that I took the time, blood, sweat, and tears to do it. I wear my 50/50 HoM and GWAMM to show I did not use any gimmick in GW 1 to do them. Same will go for here. If it was easy, I don’t want to do it. If I want easy, I could just play Tetris.
I’m not part of the “me…me…me!” crowd, so the rewards have no bearing on me as as much as the experience.
I loved that Reddit post as its so true of today.

Love it.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Now with dungeons nerfed ( love you so much anet!! [not sarcasm]) I can really start looking for players that really appreciate this game. Not to make money to sell on some gold site.

I have been looking for players that actually bring thoughts and solutions to encounters that are just plain hard. People who will break down a fight analyze what needs to happen and how we can use are classes to achieve ease fighting a boss.
Not bored either, but not rewarding at teh same time. As many traverse through the learnings of the game and experience many of the little things, one big thing remains; those terrible dungeons in which THERE IS NO POINT and NO REWARDS.
We’ll see where it goes, but as a capitalist player at heart, that expects to be rewarded for engaging in greater challenge and cooperation, there should be a greater reward commensurate with it. That as opposed to being more socialist-minded where every player is handed-out the same measly reward regardless of effort.

I’ve played 300hrs and I’m not bored yet. :> Tbh though, when I first dinged 80, I was bored/lost/confused because I wasn’t sure what to do with myself. Now that I’ve figured it out, there’s no way I can go back to a standard MMO. I can’t believe how encoded my brain was from traditional MMOs. I can’t wait for more level 80 content.
Dungeons are like raids in other games. They are supposed to cost you money in exchange for better gear. Since the only better gear in this game is aesthetic many people don’t want to run them since they cannot get out of the mindset of bigger numbers = fun.
In short, if you believe that the only reward in a game is bigger and bigger numbers then this game is not for you.

It was the same thing in GW1 PvE you did the hard endgame dungeons/zones for cool looking gear that showed prestige and skill. I hope we can get back to that actually mattering and not huge 100k numbers.

Then what exactly do you want? I do the dungeons for the skins and they are fun. I get a huge sense of accomplishment when I finish them, just like when I finish a brand new console game I bought. In the end it comes down to why are you gaming if you need a reward?

LMAO, that doesnt pertain to me. Im no blind fanboy that accepts broken games. I played gw1 for 5500 hrs. Wow for 2 years. And diablo 2 for 6 years. When a game is good ppl stay. When a game is bad they leave. And thats that.

Read it. Was reading it supposed to magically make running a dungeon rewarding?

Maybe magically you would remember why you play videogames. In the end they are suppose to be fun and make you feel accomplished. Which Arah EM made me feel.

That made zero sense. You just said you game for a reward. Now your asking why i play if i want a reward? Last i saw. prior to buying this. Anet nvr said anything about deflated gold rates and anti farming for mats/money. They nvr told me i would be playing a game that has no reward. Players play for rewards. Some for beating challenging content. Others for making money. Some like grinding. EVERY SINGLE PERSON plays for a reward. Including you my friend. As you so stated.

I’m under 350 hours and bored. Details are below:
I have two crafting professions leveled to 400. You might say I should level all professions to 400. Here is my answer:
It cost me 7g to level weaponsmithing from level 1 to level 400, ‘without any gathering, farming’. So I’ve bought all materials from TP and it still cost me 7g. I have 25g atm so I can have four other professions maximum leveled if I farm 3g more. I wouldn’t do this, because this is repetition.
I have 100% world completion.
I have full exotic gear. Armor, weapons, accessories. You might say I should start collecting skins. I already have a bunch of dungeon skins and I don’t wanna get more, because it is nothing but just repetition.
No need to mention level 80.
You might say I should do all dungeons’ explorable modes and I say no, because it is nearly impossible with casual players. Not blaming them though, dungeons are designed for leets only.
You might say I should craft a legendary. I already have bloodstone shard and two gift recipes, as well as two gifts of exploration. I can farm 525k karma for obsidian shards but I wouldn’t do that because it is repetition. I can’t farm 350g because CoF got nerfed and even if it weren’t, it was still repetition.

You say that there isn’t a point to doing dungeons I am saying there is. It just must be a matter of difference of opinion. You obviously don’t like the dungeons so you don’t have to do them but at the same time you don’t have to tell other people they are wrong for liking them, maybe to them it is rewarding. Now this is my thread don’t try to act like you are some kind of boss closing it.
The sad part is the only reason dungeons are not fun is that most people are not willing to invest time in learning the new mechanics of the new trinity.
I remember back in the day I used to hate Wailing Caverns. It was bullkitten, the mobs hit too hard and no one knew what they were doing and we wiped and wiped and wiped. The reason was that that game had brought a lot of new people, including me, to MMO’s so we did not know how the trinity worked.
Of course, once we figured it out, it was a joke. All the fights in the game turned into the same 3 or 4 basic mechanics. That’s where we got the traditional “tank and spank” strat from back when it was new and shiny.
I know its hard. There is so much new in this game. So much new when you haven’t played anything new in years. The dungeon strats make no sense because they are all fresh to you and the rewards don’t feel rewarding because even the reward system still has the cellophane on it.
So there is going to be some transitioning, but honestly tough nuts! I hated the Tier system and I am not only one that is happy to see it go the way of the dinosaur. If you can’t handle it, then too bad for you.
Of course, once we figured it out, it was a joke.
CoF magg’s path was a joke too, and you know what happened.
Blizzard did the same mistake with Diablo 3, tried to make players play the game the way Blizzard wants, ANet is trying to do the same it will end up exactly the same.

I tell my buddies, who hate the dungeons right now, that we need to actually break down boss encounters and figure out ways to use our class abilities to cure conditions, give a certain boon, deflect projectiles, etc etc… Most people are either too lazy or just don’t find it possible but there is always a way if we would just look. The game has barely been out a month.

Good job, you have eaten up all the content. When a game gets boring, that means its time to move on. I’m not really sure what else you are expecting here…
Even Skyrim gets boring. Even FFVII got boring. I can only watch the same movie so many times before it gets boring. This does not mean that any of these things are bad or poorly designed, it just means you have gotten all you can out them.

Dude, you’ve played on average just under 14 hours a day, every day for 25 days. No offence but that doesn’t seem healthy to me :o

Luckily for you there isn’t a Sub fee! Oh did you by chance check out WvW or SPvP???
Good job, you have eaten up all the content. When a game gets boring, that means its time to move on. I’m not really sure what else you are expecting here…
WvWvW has great potential, so do dungeons. I was just expecting them to be better, more fun. If they were, I’d keep playing for at least five or six months. I’m still around because I’m still expecting ANet to improve these two fundamental events of endgame.

Of course. As I said just right above, WvWvW has great potential to be an awesome, epic endgame content. But currently, it is just badges and providing pointless buffs for your server. If it had something like personal & guild rankings and gave me karma and/or gold for all my effort, I’d keep playing.
sPvP is fun if the random guys on your side play good. Otherwise it gets annoying. If I care to find an sPvP team, it would be fun but still, it is all about repetition.

The problem here is that you have played 350 hours in less than a month.
There is no subscription fee so you don’t have to feel like you are wasting money by participating in another activity for a while.

There is nothing wrong with D3. I got exactly what I wanted out of that game. I played and beat the final boss and that was it. I thought the story was a bit lack luster, but what can you say; third installments are always the worst. Look at godkittenReturn of the Jedi, gorram ewoks.
Nevertheless, I still got around 40 hours out of D3 so I was happy. It’s still cheaper than a movie.

I am actually not bored after 350 hours, but you are right.
You have played around 14 hours every single day for the past 3 and a half weeks. You know that’s unhealthy right?
sPVP is a lot of fun actually you should try that, more rewarding than killing a mindless AI.
But yeah the reason why people or I rather, wont touch a dungeon anymore is because the payout is too little for so much effort, the level of difficulty is fine, I can deal with it, but with so little silver being rewarded…. yeah no… Ill go play PVP now, nothing for me in PVE anymore.
It never gets old seeing these threads so soon after a launch.
You’ve basically blitzed, inside of 3 weeks, the content that will take 90% of the community the next 3 months to do.
I’ve done the same thing. Tons of gold, exotic gear/weaps on two characters, two sets of full dungeon gear and 3 level 80s. I’ve yet to do 100% map completion but don’t really care. However: I know exactly what i’ve done and now I have to accept it and enjoy things like SPVP/WvW/Dungeons/Event farming (the repeatable stuff, basically)
I don’t see how you can come on a forum and get angry about the way you decided to play the game. Expecting there to be enough content to satisfy 14 hours a day for the next year is just unrealistic.

Thanks for your concern, but when I do something that I enjoy and take pride in I get a little obsessive. Also smoking is bad but people still do it. :P

Woah woah woah. I kitten love WvWvW. I don’t really know what you want out of duneons other than “Epics”, which will never happen unless Anet caves hardcore to standard MMO design. But WvWvW is bloody brilliant.

Not complaining there isn’t any content, I am saying there is plenty of content.

This is correct, actually. I just wish there was something that would keep me busy in the game while ANet is preparing a content update.

I enjoyed capturing keeps, supply camps and I don’t agree with those who think wvwvw is all about zerging. It requires skill, strategy and a lot of teamwork, I liked that but you know, I can keep doing it yet I won’t earn something I really need or want. I just would like to see this changed.
I still think about logging back in to farm karma on Orr but I think I just need to take some time out of GW2, that’s all
Lol i’ve played 150 hours and i’m not even above level 50 yet. I’ve taken my time, doing 2-3 zones for my level range for 100% of that map, 100% all city maps, sPvP, WvW, crafting, etc…
I feel like I’m playing the game just as it was intended.
LOL that reddit post just so perfectly describes the situation. Thanks for sharing.
The forum would not let me quote but this is directed at Death Aggro:
You say that you have played 5500 hours of GW, where the endgame content was mostly for cosmetic upgrades very similar to GW2. You also made comments about D2 which was very grind heavy. So I guess I really don’t understand what you want to find in the GW2 dungeons.
So do you want titles for completing things like in GW? Or do you want to spend hours and hours looking for a perfect runeword base item like in D2?
Just curious..
lol dang man not bad but do go outside to get some fresh air
Only 250 hours here, playing since day 1. I tried playing Black Mesa when it came out, but after only half an hour I was craving GW2 again. I still feel like I’ve only just started and there is so much left to do _.
haha, i did the SAME thing. I’ve got 133 hours at this point, but I’m a lvl 80. I cant decide whether to keep exploring or to roll an alt.
(edited by Hickeroar.9734)
I call BS on the 350 hours of actual play though… Musta just left the game logged into a player or something like that. (there are programs you can get that will simulate “hits” of movement buttons every X number of minutes to keep games from auto-logging you). For 350 hours, That’s almost 16 hours of playtime a day since the game launched. Either this guy is a HS dropout living with mom and no job, or that number is fabricated in some way.
Even then, that only leaves 8 hours a day for combined sleeping and eating for the last three weeks…
(edited by Hickeroar.9734)
Level 80 in 25 hours is pretty impressive. Crafting alt?
The fact that you feel the need to make a post like this just points out in neon lights that there is a huge problem.
