About to hit 500 laurels. Does anyone else have 500+ laurels or am I the only one?

i think i have around 570+ laurels

my warrior (main) is still using exotic weapons and armor though fully clad in ascended trinkets. maybe i should pop open those champion loot bags and see if i got lucky with some ascended gear.

still waiting for my free ascended weapons and armor to fall from the sky.

nah, it does not cap at 100.

not sure if it will cap at 1000 or it will not have a cap at all.

I would have more, but I missed a monthly about a year ago when laurels first started, and I never did the PvP monthly when it would give laurels even if you had done the PvE monthly already. I did spend about 45 to get the karma booster amulet and infusion before they changed the karma bonus, gained about 2 million karma with 100% boost from about 350 jugs of karma.

I’ve accumulated 566 laurels as a semi-casual, primarily PvE player, mostly because I’ve got too many alts and I’m constantly wondering “what should I spend these laurels on? WHO should I spend them on?” As a result, I’ve barely spent or used any of them!

I’ve earned that many laurels because when laurels were first introduced, a friend said “we should try to do ‘dailies’ every night when we all get together,” — and we usually play together three or four nights a week. We’ve basically made a “mini-game” out of knocking out “dailies” as quickly as possible, before we go do other things in-game. Most months, that alone gets most of us at least three of our monthly achievements, so it usually doesn’t take too much effort to finish whatever fourth category needs to be completed.

14,400 AP and only 83% map completion? A bit slow there eh? Im casual too and have never had more then 25 gold, and only have 4900AP abd 100% map.

i think i got an ascended amulet (35 laurels?) for my guardian and err 2 ascended accessories (some laurels + some guild commendations) for my thief and then i stopped outfitting them with ascended gear since i decided i would play my warrior mainly in PvE / WvW so for my other characters exotic / rare gear will suffice.

well, my human warrior (first and main) did have divinity reach and lions arch 100%, along with all 3 orr maps, frost gorge sound, queensdale and some other maps 100% then for the rest i just explore them when if i happen to be there for some reason.

On 599 Laurels. XD I’d probably be at or near Healix’s level if I hadn’t spent some Laurels for Heavy Crafting Bags.

I stopped really doing dailys about 4 months ago, but I still usually get the monthlies done before they reset.

I have also spent hundreds.. and hundreds… gotta buy all the stoofs.

I have about 369. Used some last year to get ascended trinkets on my three Lv80 characters.

Not sure this is something to be showing off. It would be better for you if you’d use them. I could have a lot more, but I used a large chunk of them twice now for t6 mats for each of my legendaries.

Honestly, I think ANet is going to do away with laurels. It may be 6-12 months out but if you’ve been paying attention, alternate currencies (karma and pvp glory) have been or are getting nerfed, champs won’t be dropping gold, etc. They want to funnel purchases through the TP to improve the gold sink which isn’t enjoyed when purchases are made with glory or karma. Before you start to rail against this statement, think about it. Capping AP makes dailies and monthlies unimportant, no laurels and who cares if it’s a rolling total, once I get my 15000 AP chest, that’s the end for me and there are a ton of people already there.

Merging the wardrobe and the instantiation of “charges” to make changes to your look which looks like it’s going to be a gem item even though they will give some for free to start.

Laurels are gonna get nerfed in some fashion….spend those 500+, I would suggest dyes or WvW experience.

I think I have 2 laurels. I use them on T6 materials or infusions. I also used a bunch putting ascended gear on 7 alts I don’t play.

If i’ve learned anything in this game it’s that stockpiling can backfire. Too many examples where ANet suddenly gets rid of or nerfs something. I honestly see no achievement or anything to brag about in saving up laurels but if it makes you happy then ok. Just don’t come crying when you eventually get hit by the nerf hammer my friend.

I agree with you on this. People either horde and then get the rug pulled out, or they slowly lose interest in the game and move on having never enjoyed everything they could have had in the game because they never spent any of it. It’s like people who horde materials the whole time they play, then quit playing out of frustration because they can’t buy a legendary. Meanwhile they’ve had hundreds and hundreds of gold in materials in their bank but they refused to sell any of it.

My laurels never get so high. I think I’m sitting at roughly 130 right now, give or take a few. I tend to use them pretty regularly for stuff, so they don’t accumulate too much.

It seems that he’s been playing almost since launch (karka introductory event), that’s more than enough time to get to the 14.4k achievement points.

As I am an altoholic (and haven’t played sometimes for a couple of weeks) I am constantly out of Laurels. I also changed builds on my most important charactels several times: before the uber god meta ‘Berserker’ blessed the community I had my Guardian in full PVT ascended trinkets, then cleric trinkets, then berserker trinkets. You see, I wasted a kittenload of laurels for trinkets I can’t use anymore. I don’t do a lot of fractals (too long, tedious etc.), so I have to rely on laurels to by the rings and amulets.

I had a little over 400 but I spent some on ascended trinkets and a bunch of dyes recently.

I spent all my laurels on dyes and WvW ranks… I now have 0 laurels, and I don’t do dailies that consistently so it will take me a while to get back up to a decent amount.

The devs are moving away from alternate currencies, pretty much everything is going to be karma and gold soon. I’ll probably get back up to 40 laurels or so in order to keep myself safe if new stuff is released, but other than that i’d rather spend them and enjoy them instead of just looking at them.

Perhaps if you could salvage ascended trinkets and get some laurels back, this wouldn’t occur. I rarely use my laurels on trinkets anymore because of the reason that ProtoGunner mentioned… too many changes to builds. I don’t want to “waste” 3 months of acquisitions on one item that may be no good in another 2 months. And I don’t like feeling pigeon holed into one build. Most of my trinkets are exotics.

However, I do use my laurels all the time. I used quite a lot to get T6 bags to make Sunrise. I have used some for dyes. I used some to craft one set of ascended armor. As I said above, I try not to stockpile anything in this game. I don’t want to be “that girl” who is crying because I saved up and then ANet smacked me down. Nope. Thank you.

I’ve got to 450, but then I’ve decided to gear all of my alts, and got spendind a few more with T6 mats, and with a secret way to superconvert laurels on gold.

Now, I’m back at 200, and rising.

Do you honestly think Anet is going to come out with an item that can be bought with that many laurels?

I guess I wouldn’t call getting all monthlies plus dailies like every day but 20 or so over the last year and a half casual. Then again, that comes from someone who only has time to play for about 2 hours a week.

I like having nice complete crafting recipe tables… I need thousands of laurels to do that. No immediate peril of me stocking up too deeply.

I think I have 500 laurels and that is after gearing up 3 different characters that have multiple gear sets.

Why not get the crafting bags and sell the T6 mats? They are at a high price right now.

Same thing with the dyes but last week. Dyes were for a time 1 gold a piece. You could have sold 5 laurels for 10g.

i think cumulatively i do have 500+ laurels,but after purchasing 2 sets of ascended trinkets i’m now left with 311 laurels….

gonna spend some when account bound ascended gear take effect..

well i think laurels is here to stay, because there are still uses for laurels and they will not remove that. plus, laurels is designed to keep players logging in everyday so, yeah, laurels will stay.

glory is removed because sPvP is being overhauled.

i am casual, well, maybe spending a bit too many hours casual, but, still casual.
i do not focus too many hours into doing one particular thing. well, many months ago there was a period where i would run at least one fractals dungeon with guild members, if we failed on the giant fractal we would not continue and call it a night. but we stopped doing that for a long time already though. no more daily fractal runs.

i do not run dungeons daily for the daily gold rewards.
i do not participate in the queensdale / frostgorge champion train.
i do not have 100% world completion.
i do not participate in world bosses everyday.
(^ there was a time when i did that, but not all bosses, just the ones within the time frame when i was playing, but then i stopped doing that)
i do not participate in tequalt the sunless boss events.
(^ only had one successful run in a TTS overflow when it was many months later)
etc

tl; dr i play many parts of the game but i do not try to spend too many hours in it.

well in between i may have stopped a few days due to overseas holiday trip or outstation trip back to my dad’s hometown in more rural villages.

no, i do not think they will come out with items that will cost a lot of laurels.
i horde them because i can. and i do not intend to use them for the time being.
well, maybe i might buy some WvW infusions for the wvw tournament achievements.

after the 15 april update since ascended gear would be account bound by then so i can steal my thief’s ascended accessories and let me warrior use them for alternate infusions. she would not be using them anyway.

well i have clocked in 2,394 hours over 585 days via the /age command so that means an average of 4 hours per day.

there are also a lot of AFK hours clocked in as i frequently move away from the keyboard to attend other matters.

to some extent that may be somewhat accurate as i may have put in more hours during the 3 days head start and during the first few months.

after that, i just log in daily to complete the daily (mostly 5, might do more if got time and they are easy and not too time consuming), monthly PvE and sPvP (do daily until monthly is achieved) achievements.

and of course the living story achievements, but since they made the meta achievement easier to achieve (able to mix in daily living story achievements) i stopped going after the kittenes.

I do have 5 “mains” that all need gearing, but I’m holding off on buying any Ascended trinkets for now until I see what r500 Jeweler will bring. I’m saving some Laurels for Karmic infusions when I do finally get Ascended amulets, but otherwise I slowly purchase some Heavy Crafting Bags as and when I remember to do so (typically when Laurel Merchant is on the daily).
