A Matter of Buttflaps.
XD buttflaps
but I agree that we need some shorter options, specially for medium armor for males. it’s all coats.
It’s GW2’s biggest issue since day 1. IMO fixing it should have priority over bugs, class rebalancing, HoT, Human Life, etc. And yes, I’m 100% serious. Fashion Crimes are the worst.

Compromise.
Butt-capes.
But ..but .. there are aetherblade legs for heavy, embroidered pants for light and
krytan vest for medium.
But yeah .. thats it more or less

are buttflapps included to not be racist towards Charr characters?

They are so big?
My anaconda don’t want none less you got flaps hun.
There are at least two medium armors that don’t have butt flaps. Glorious armor is one of them.

add krytan, sneakthief(female only) and strider(for sure for fems dunno hwo it looks on males) – already four mediums without them

Awesome, ty
It’s just the style of the time.

Agreed. Sadly, 2/3 are cash shop— and krytan isn’t even available. :/
I like big buttflaps and I cannot lie.

Yeah, I agree.
Also, light armour has, literally, no plain legging option.
They all have some kind of skirt over them. :/
There’s one that just has the bottom half of a longish top type thing, rather than an actual skirt, but it only looks OK with the matching chest, which is very limiting.

Embroidered Pants are very baggy and have a half skirt thing at the back (at least, on human female they do, anyway).
There’s Profane Pants, but then you have to show the top of your char’s thighs…
But, they prove plain, close fitting leggings, without a skirt, could easily be done.

The buttflaps extended to town clothes.
The khaki cargo pants. Hot pants with modesty flaps, fore and aft. The flaps are held in place by a belt around the waist.
ANet may give it to you.
Yep. We need better diversity in armor styles across light, medium, and heavy. Anet has a serious obsession with tacking extraneous fabric onto the back end. Just let me wear pants, darnit!

…
I heard you like buttflaps with your pants so we put buttflaps on top of your buttflaps so you can buttflap while you buttflap.
…
HAHA! Thanks so much for this. Couldn’t stop laughing! I’ve been dealing with some pretty heavy IRL stuff, and this just made my day… laughing into tears. Thank you.
I wholeheartedly agree we need more non-flappy chest and pants options for ALL races and genders. So tired of coats, skirts and flaps of any sort.
Also, light armour has, literally, no plain legging option.
That’s not entirely true. There’s Ascalonian Performer Leggings (At least for male), though those take several dungeon runs or the PvP reward track to get.
But I definitely do agree that we need more non-buttflap options. I feel so confined to only a certain number of skins to mix and match with. Especially with medium armor and all the longcoats that I can’t stand. I usually just give up and use an outfit for those classes.

^-^ <3 I hope things will get better for you soon!
And yehh. There are a few. VERY few options where I got no buttflaps. Everyone is wearing those options.
Cloth Starter Skirt is probably the most common for cloth wearers.
Sneak Thief probably the most common top I see for Medium.
Heavy would probably be the Phalanx leggings.
Everyone is the saaaame! ;_;
At least it looks better then the ascended heavy armor were Norns looks like giant babies with dipers.

Does the diaper have a buttflap? :o

Sadly, females get the buttflap on Ascalonian, too.

I think the designers dont know how to model actual pants so they cover it up with weird jacket and flappy bits, the only decent looking pants skin is the ascalon one, hell it even looks good on charr. But they’re probably too lazy to put any effort into making good looking skins unless its for the gemstore, and those are pretty lazy too :/
The problem for medium is the chest pieces cover the legs.
There are plenty of pants but only about 3 chest pieces that don’t cover them.
The second problem is that the crotch on the pants looks really weird if you do have it uncovered.
There is no bulge.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
For medium armor, the Glorious set has zero buttflappyness on either male or female character’s.
OP you are wrong. Medium is not buttflaps, it is post apocalyptic potatoe sacks.
[Teef] guild :>
If they were post-apocalyptic, there would just be brown and gray, with no option to dye.

Yeah Embroidered Pants look nuch better on female norn than on human.

male medium human armor has the worst non-buttflappy options, I think. only the glorious set has none, and just a few options (2 or 3) have shorter flaps.
These town clothes pants didn’t have buttflaps! So sad they’re gone. ;_;
I was crossing my fingers, wishing on shooting stars, praying to Gaben, and sacrificing goats so hard for those Sylvari town clothes to be chosen as racial armor skins when they announced wardrobe. They match everything and have 100% no possible way of clipping with anything. Yet they were turned into stupid tonics and my table went out my window, upsidedown.

Yeah.. Kinda tired of heavy armor having more skirt than some light armors.
Especially on a Charr.

This game is in desperate need of plain pants for all races, both sexes, and all armor types. I’m constantly fighting against the trenchcoats and inexplicable flaps when I try my hand at fashion.

Yess! I’m having a horrible time finding something I like in heavy. And I lucked out liking some of the stuff for Medium as a Sylvari.
Light armor the pant count = 1. And it has a skirt / buttflap.
I ended up getting Incarnate pants. But they also have an odd flap in the back that would of been 100% better if it wasn’t there.
The center flap. I mean . . . COME ONNN.
I main a male Norn and I have to say I feel like my choices are extremely limited, because I do not want to either: expose the fact that my dude’s chest looks like a danged Sasquatch in the predatory, (what’s with those SHORTS anyway?). Or he ends up looking like fatty mcfatbutt in everything else other than the Sneakthief coat. I chose the most slender body type for him, and that’s the only one that provides a trim waist. I’d love to change up his look, but every. single. coat. and just about every outfit I own gives him thunder thighs and leaves me singing the Big Butts song…
If I go Druid? God only knows what I would put him in…

Yepppp! The issue with becoming a druid is one thing on my mind. Sylvari seems to work best for looks for it (plants gunna plant). But when I tried on annnnything else I just ended up feeling disappointed. This is one of those sad times where an outfit covering my gear actually makes things better. xD

Capes would clip with buttflaps. Too much buttflaps.
Stupid buttflaps.
These town clothes pants didn’t have buttflaps! So sad they’re gone. ;_;
town clothes are still around with the tonics
Buttflaps are necessary. They keep the mud from getting all over your backpack or wings when you’re running through a swamp. I would pay extra for some that were imprinted with an image of Yosemite Sam with drawn guns saying “Back off!”
Also, light armour has, literally, no plain legging option.
That’s not entirely true. There’s Ascalonian Performer Leggings (At least for male), though those take several dungeon runs or the PvP reward track to get.
They’re not plain.
They have a massive belt, with the bottom half of a bulky, jacket type thing.
This means they really only look OK with the matching jacket (on human female, at least).
There’s also the Profane leggings, for that matter, but then you have to show the top of your char’s thighs (complete with suspender/garter straps).
I mean totally plain leggings, with no skirts, or straps, or flaps, or gaps, or big belts, or bottom halves of jackets, or whatever.
Just simple, plain, leggings.
(edited by Tigaseye.2047)
Gemstore.
Only plain pants on heavy armor (Aetherblade Heavy)
Only non racial skirt leggings for medium armor (Viper’s)
Few non-racial non trenchcoat tops for medium armor (Strider and Krytan). I think glorious and sneakthief are only other non racial you can get.
Light armor however really has no clean pants choices even in gemstore unless you count Profane, with annoying sticking straps instead of buttflap.
So I don’t think the availability of these items (or the lack of thereof) is necessarily an accident. I am sure we can expect a gemstore armor set with plain light armor pants sometime in the future…
you can do side bends or situps… but please dont lose that flap!
These town clothes pants didn’t have buttflaps! So sad they’re gone. ;_;
town clothes are still around with the tonics
They’re still gone as stand-alone pants. Using the tonic essentially puts you in an outfit that disappears if you gate or stub your toe.
On heavy armor, males and females wore a skirt. It’s one of the best defenses for the groin. So, your “buttflap” is historically accurate.
On female light armor it’s known as a “peplum” a contrivance to make the hips look wider. Going into battle wearing a ball gown has always seemed a bit ridiculous. The biggest offender in this vein is the Noble outfit, with a hobble skirt. I laughed aloud.
Ever try to run in a long skirt? Much less do acrobatics. I’d love to see simple leggings for light armor.
It’s possible that it’s a modelling problem. As an example; Gunpowder Morgan in Cad’s Manor wears black “gloves” that are simply his hands colored black. So it might be that the long tails on everything conceal a “rear aspect” that doesn’t look good
The Legacy light armor isn’t too bad with a shortish skirt and overcoat.
(edited by Ithilwen.1529)
@ Ithilwen – Historical accuracy means nothing when you have people with giant angel wings and halos running around. Or how about the fuzzy hats? xD
Do not defend the buttflap!
