I started farming holos in fireheart rise figuring it’d be quiet over there. There were several people determined to kill the things before anyone else could. Even after grouping with them with some guildies these people would kill the holos instead of waiting 5 seconds for other people to catch up and tag them.

Now these things dont have much hp, thats true. Its no excuse not to share. I moved to another zone and would wait if I seen another player approaching the holo. At first everyone in that zone was the same as in fireheart. After waiting for people they started returning the favour.

Theres no need to be a bunch of greedy little pricks about things. Work together and you end up getting these holos easier. It made me really happy to see people start waiting, so spread it around. You see someone else coming along dont rush to kill all these things before they get there. Its shared! If your pixels matter so much to you that you have to make the game unenjoyable for someone else perhaps you should rethink some priorities in your life, cus thats pretty kitten pathetic.

I’ve been waiting too and it fosters a much nicer atmosphere. Unfortuately, there’s nothing you can do if one idiot wants to be a cowboy.

actually, all you gotta do is let all the other people know who is taking them. I give people a couple chances but ive only had to mention peoples names twice now. Apparently everyone in the region wouldnt wait for those guys.

So if you get someone who insists on being an kitten about it, just call it out in map chat. We’re getting WAY more holos like this. People who were nuking them before even switched to weaker weps so they can tag them without 1 shotting the holos for everyone else.

This is like asking people in pre nerf cursed shore to stop holding mobs, etc. This is like asking at Lyssa for people to stop standing in middle and goto ledge. In my experience, any high population server will be as greedy as possible. There was a huge differnce between ex-server JQ CS/Lyssa Farm and my previous servers. JQ was ruthless but honestly it makes you better. You learn to get to them quicker. It was pointless to try to convince people and in a way

This might not be your playstyle, but they might have limited time or want to farm it. Or they want to do it fast etc. To the early bird, gets the worm.

I play on SoR. Its a high pop server. The early bird gets the worm, sure. But there are a lot of birds out there. We started working together and waiting for each other. The people just taking them and not sharing, we’d see them coming and exclude them from holos. So they’d waste that time running, then they’re SOL and have to wait for the next holo. Then hope one of us doesnt get there before them and snag that one too.

People learned. They realised they could get them a hell of a lot quicker by working together. Instead of being a kitten and then having 10 other people actively working to shut you down.

If they have limited time, again, you get more doing it the way im talking about because it eliminates competition. You’re no longer showing up to a holo just as someone else takes it. No matter how fast you are theres someone there faster. Now that we’re waiting just a few seconds and sharing them, we’re getting more holos faster. Simple.

So screw your playstyle. It doesnt make you better. Working together to achieve something makes you better, this is an mmo. Go it alone and screw other people over all you want, it wont get you far.

This server has been tight since this game came out. We work together on everything. Hence our rise up the wvw ladder. JQ shoulda learned from that.

I wait .. but about half of the people I wait for go crazy and kill everything before I even get a shot in— after I waited for them to get there! I remember who they were and then do not wait for them again. So it goes both ways.. I have no problem waiting and I do but if you get up there and 1 shot everything I will not wait for you again.

We had a thing on my server were we called them in chat waited for everyone to show and then boom!
It made it much nicer and everyone gets their share.
It is a pity they are so weak though- I’m having fond memories of gift boxes from hell spawning dolls that chase you around the map.

Ive been making sure I wait if there are a few people following me into a projector, they have enough HP to get a tag in. Though the only one I felt bad for was the Ranger cos I didn’t realise they don’t have a very easy AOE skill like my warrior, took a few runs before I realised I had to give him a few seconds to set up before I dived in with my spin to win.

I think people were starting to do the same and give people those few seconds to get the rewards.

At 134/300 for the achievement.

I found it so heartwarming when I finally encountered this:
people were waiting for each other and then carefully throwing out their weakest attack so as to not kill the mobs instantly. I think this is the result of the nice collaboration atmosphere the game has promoted.
Then I realised that we were collaborating against the specific design of this content. I should be happy to see other people on the map and I usually am. But this unintentional griefing design here makes me sad.
However, it is so nice to see the few people that stick to collaboration no matter what. You make this game great! =)

So basically, you encouraged people to engage in vilification of another player because they weren’t playing how you wanted them to….nice.

Also randomly, i do believe you will find that against the ToS so I dunno if I would be bragging about it in a public place…..

I was about to start to kill these holos and linked a Wp in map chat then started to wait. A thief comes up with shortbow and says " Don’t wait they are always gone before you port" then spams clusterbomb on the mobs, killing them in seconds.

I want to wait but because of this one person doing this I have to race across the map to get any.

This is the problem I encountered as well. I agree that sharing is caring, but if even a few players aren’t doing this, it kinda falls apart.

LOL today I saw a holo pop and I was the only one around. So I thought I would be nice and announced it on /map which I did. Someone asked for the nearest WP and by the time I stared to map link it someone ran up and killed it then way pointed out. HAHA

I still announce them when I find them though. The mentality seems to be that they want the achievement done. That’s understandable but there is plenty of time to do it. I’m actually having a good time watching all this madness going around. I’m a little over half way through that achievement just from playing normally and even after people gank the holo from me.

There are plenty of kittens running around doing it on purpose when they can clearly see 5-10 ppl waiting to activate. It’s sad but they do it anyway. I just use my necro with a weak attack to keep from killing them quickly but others are not so kind.
Too many mad dashes to a holo to find I can’t tag anything before it dies and I quit waypointing to them.
I have made new friends from simply being courteous to others and them doing the same.
Maybe Anet can decrease the spawn timer or increase the hp. If more are popping at the same time and faster, people will spread out even more and not have as many opportunities to grief others. Or just make the hp high enough that a little help might be necessary. The dolls were certainly evil and I ended up running from them more than killing them.

In my zone I try to link the near by way point or POI and say something like “in 30 sec will trigger”. However, I’ve been getting that one person with a Greatsword who runs in and activates it and kills all the mobs. This is AFTER I mention “wait”, " more coming, please wait". They just say, RUDELY I might add, “first come, first serve.”

Rangers have plenty of AoE skills.

I’ve mainly been using traps on the holograms because I have the trait that lets you put them at a distance, but most (all?) weapon sets have at least one AoE.

Arenanet kinda did encourage this behaviour by making them so easy and with such low HP. If a single person kills them in 2 seconds, waiting for everyone to show up is even risky cause if there’s warriors they might as well have all the mobs down before you can tag.

I’ve cut back on my waypointing to increase my odds of finding one. I’ve found several live ones now just doing my own thing that I normally do. I smile and wave as I see the same 5 people camping the same holo, go on my way exploring and usually find one within a few minutes. They are often in an isolated spot as I’m on my way to a different location. After my last few times calling them in /map now I just look around and if no one else is close or on the way I take it. Then later when I head back to the TP or wherever I came from, I see the same 5 people camping the same holo and wave as I go by again.

I would be friendly, but on Sea of Sorrows no chance, its survival of the fittest, you wait you lose, sad really…

Its either get them as fast as you can or miss out, i just logged after a while it’s not fun to fight for loot and its totally against how Guildwars 2 was suppose to function, i’m better off playing something less hostile to be honest..
