I admit that anet has fixed a lot of problems with the game. The over all experience still is just flat. The bottom line is (for me anyway) I don’t find this game fun when I am alone on the map. Besides a hand full of events the maps are empty.

Its really disapointing. There’s this great big map with a ton of events and I find myself limited to the same few events or mindlessly farming. I don’t see the point in playing anywmore.

GO AWAY. The new event is simply amazing. If you want the perfect game with no problems your going to be looking for the rest of your life. Every thing will just be a disappointment if you cant deal with things not being perfect.

That’s a bit extreme. Especially since I like the content/events and overall mechanics.. They need to do something about this population problem and/or make events and areas scale better.

Ok it may of been a bit much to say “go away” but your asking for the game to be less popular so you can have a better playing for your self. If things are harder more ppl will run them beyond having mechanics that just kick ppl out of the zones your not going to see a drop in pop for big events unless they make the events worst.

Actually, All I want to see is more people on the maps. The game synergizes better when the maps are full. More events spawn, champion bosses become doable. It’s just overall more fun.

What I meant by events should scale better = If there are 2 people on a map, then the event shgould be doable by 2 people.

They do to a point but small events are comply different from big events. You should not be able to do world events with less then 20 ish ppl wanted harder fights and Anet gave them harder fights.

Well, I will say this.

First, I really enjoy the game as it is. There are some things I don’t like or participate in, and that’s true for any game I play. I carve out a niche for myself where I can find a path to play that is enjoyable, and if (or when) I can’t do that, I leave.

Now, your population discussion is interesting in their game from the perspective of the wonderful technology that they seemed to go great lengths to throw together. The guesting, overflow, transfers. It seems like they are ‘so close’ to being able to technologically solve your issue.

People have brought it up before: Underflow.

It would be really amazing if instead of putting the onus on us to have to find the right server and the right people and exactly the right time so we know where to go on Tuesday to find the most people in Kessex and then on Thursday to find the most people in Lornar’s pass, to just do it all dynamically. You walk into a zone, and it just pops you into a zone that has the most people in it without being ‘full’ whatever that is deemed to be.

And give people the options of whether they want their zoning experience to behave that way or not, and if you are in a group, the group leaders destination controls where the party goes.

It seems like they have all the tools at their disposal to make that last leap, and if they did, it would be ‘really’ slick.

So while you concern ‘might’ be dismissed with a ‘yeah, but this is a problem in every game’, and rightfully so…in this game, it’s a great thing to raise your hand on because of their existing technology.

So for your leveling sake, and for the sake of seeing another neat milestone in technology come to life, I hope they are thinking about or working on the underflow concept, as it’s been discussed plenty of times before.

I’m on Tarnished Coast and I don’t see enough people. If a zone has a lot of people in it, it means a world boss spawned, and I’ve been dumped into overflow because I refuse to camp them.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. Yes, underflow has been mentioned before. I’ve even mentioned it myself. perhaps servers could auto-merge when they get beneath a certain population?

Also, I like the idea of world bosses but its not functioning. What you wind up with is people popping around from one to the next with al their characters and the maps being empty. (I get it, I love loot too.)

I almost want to say they should remove the chests entirely. While part of me hates the idea. I’d rather see the loot spread out to ordinary enemies. Leave the chests for dungeons.

People will always find a way to maximize loot though.

I frequently guest TC, but like you said, the problem exists there too. I waited a week or two to buy my exotic armor because none of the waypoints were open (balth, grenth, etc) I was finally able to get it on TC.

People are just not compelled to go to certain areas because of various of reasons.

One of the reasons is that the events repeat quite often and whatever you do hasn’t that much of an impact on the world and people feel and recognize that. It doesn’t feel as if it is your world, as if it is your story. They may affect things around them but it’s in a dismissible way. The boss you just killed respawns 10 minutes later, it just doesn’t care you’re there.

Prince Rurik and Lady Althea. Anyone else see the incompatibilty here?

Yup, but that is why I like to keep going and roaming the zones to the next event. The problem = the maps are empty. The next event/chain will be near impossible alone. In Orr, all you can do is try to open the map slowly a lot of the time.

Another problem is the generic reward system. There is no great or any variation of rewards. Some events may take a long time, but the reward you get is the same as for some simple and quick events that take at most a minute.

If the dynamic events had a much more lasting and rewarding effect then the players would be compelled to do it. Right now it’s just too repetitive and the rewards are not worth it.

Thanks for the link. Anet does address event scaling. They also concede that you need about 10 people for group events. Many events are not soloable. (Assuming that I wanted to, I really don’t)

However, none of this addresses being alone on a map. Ok, so no group events in that scenario. Plus regular events are a crapshoot.. Do you see how this doesn’t work for me?

It’s the speed of soloing events that annoys me more than the difficulty. There are a number of ways that ingenuity can make a daunting task more feasible. But my DPS is pretty well throttled, as is the design of this game. And let’s face it, if I’m ikittenone to level, I want to do it as effectively as possible. I already “enjoyed the journey” on my first level 80, now I just want more characters to play.

All the good suggestions are taken. Guesting to more populated servers does help to keep you from being alone. However there are maps in the 50 ish level that are mostly empty no matter what server you’re on.
I really think they need to buff the loot for the long event chains that require a large amount of people to complete. Going further they could have unique armor/weapons specific to the area drop as a rare loot.
The meta bosses aren’t the only thing out in the PvE world, but they are the only thing out there that rewards well.
