Level cap increase past 80? Y/N
No.

No here as well. I don’t want all the gear everyone has worked for up to this point to instantly be rendered obsolete and for us to have to go through all that all over again.
This kind of poll site is too easy to be tempered with, and there was already a thread about this with majority of people said “no”.
A big NO.
Raising the level cap serves no purpose at all.
It would only screw up the lvl scaling once again.
Not to mention all the obsolete items that it will create.

No. If it was up to me, MMOs wouldn’t have levels at all. In most games I have ever seen, level cap increase was just a cheap way for the devs to invalidate people’s gear and make them grind for it all over again.
Gonna have to go with Daec and Tol here….definitely a ‘no’ vote here. I feel they should take a page from the GW1 book here, leave 1 solid level cap. Don’t bump it like other games, and negate all the work/time a player has already dedicated to maxing out. But hey, just my 2 cents.

Most ISPs won’t allow you more than 3 (AT MOST, 2 generally) dynamic IPs in a day. So besides using multiple lines (cell data line, home net line, etc), VPNing all over the place, TORing… it’s gonna be hard for anyone to vote more than a couple of times for the same thing. And the vast majority of people on this forum have no idea how to do any of that or don’t have the resources to.
Anyhow, this type of thread I like to see more of. As much as everyone argues about everything (class balance, ascended gear vs no ascended gear, etc etc) this is the only thread topic in which the majority of the forums comes together with a nearly unanimous answer. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy seeing everyone agree like this.
Here’s hoping Arenanet doesn’t break our fragile little hearts! =D

No Thanks
(More words)
No. Guild Wars 1 was fine for over seven years with a level cap at 20. We don’t need a higher level cap. The time would be better spent making more armor/weapon skins and more personal storyline.
No thank you. I prefer having the set level cap so I no longer have to worry about levels.
no. it’s just an arbitrary number anyway.
I think im a MMO hybrid. i dont like grinding, but i like working hard for my good gear. so yes, I would like to see the lvl increased with better/higher lvl gear. if it wont be that way, thats fine with me but at least do something we can spent time on and not only more skins :p
Nope.
It would add more trait points, unless they don’t give those out which defeats the purpose.
It would muck with the gear.
Etc.
They made a cap. Stick with it. Work on new areas, including new starter areas as in GW1. Work on more skins and skills.
I’d tolerate it, but NO, I don’t want it.
Plenty of other ways of adding vertical progression without touching gear tiers or level caps. Those are lazy, imo.
Selective defensive and offensive buffs tied to title tiers, guild ranks, WvW ranks, etc. all add vertical progression without making the unintended side-effect of making current gear obsolete.
And depending on the method of ranking those up, you can get people out into the open world as well.

These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
No. Just no. I do not want this at all.
No. I do not want to have all the work towards gear for all 8 of my level 80 characters to be instantly erased.
Colin Johanson on how arenanet measures success.
(Please no gear treadmills, Colin!)
Nope, for reasons same to the above.
I heard there will be an Expansion at the end of the year.
I hope they add more level 80 content and NOT raise the level cap.
There’s plenty of ways of adding expansions worth of stuff with out raising the cap. New skills/elites/weapon sets for example!
Please, 80 is high enough. Do NOT raise the cap!!! Level 85/95/100 is just too much and very intimidating to new players. Maybe if the original level cap was 50 or something, but since it’s so high from the start, it should not be raised higher.
They’d also be making a commitment to raise the level cap every expansion since their first expansion will be setting the standard bar for future expansions.
Firmly on the “No” side. Perhaps the only time we may find ourselves in agreement! <3
I have a feeling ArenaNet might take this one to heart. I certainly could be wrong though.
No ! No ! No ! No ! …………..needed 15 char lenght
Raising the level cap serves no purpose at all.
It serves the same purpose the original level 80 cap served (as opposed to Guild Wars’ level cap of 20), a time sink for players who need that constant stream of “’at a boy”s.
As I’ve always said, no since it does not change the game in any way. However, I am pretty sure Anet would probably increase the level cap anyways. If I was working for Anet, I would do the same as well. Why?
Most current players would most likely say no but if they increased the level cap, these same players wouldn’t quit over it since this is pretty minor. However, by raising the level cap, it usually signifies that there is a lot of new content coming out which usually brings back a lot of old players. It is a win-win situation, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t do it.
No thanks. 80 is enough.

I really hope they take into consideration this poll and player feedback before they decide on raising the cap. I don’t think I know a single person who wants the cap raised.
The only reason this worries me is because in the past, I believe they said that raising the cap is a very high probability. I hope they go back on their word with this one.
No.
It would be bad design like +stats on ascended and 0/20 fetch quests dailies.
But after the aforementioned happened, I just expect anything at this point, it seems the whole “anti traditional MMO” propaganda was just marketing jargon in the end and on a PvE perspective we’re getting exactly what GW2 was never said to have, including level cap raises and who knows what.
Maybe I’m a bit pessimist, but it might be realism.
No. Expansions should be standalone too, just like in Guild Wars 1
Nope!
………………
Nope, that would be kinda lame.
Absolutely not. Don’t even open that can of worms.

Voted no, same reasons as above.
Voted yes, but only with the caveat there is a new tier of traits for everyone, so it’s not just about more points. Gear itself becoming obsolete is pointless to consider. If we’re looking at an ideal, manifesto following endgame where all the new stuff that comes out is primarily so we can grab it and transmute the appearance onto stuff with the stats we really want, that can be done at level 90 with level 80 gear.
What we’re doing now sans the existence of ascended won’t change in 5, 10, or 100 more levels. It’s about trait points, but simply leveling up for the sake of more points alone is stupid, there needs to be another tier of traits to invest deeper into. I’m not so naïve as to believe the classes are 100% totally balanced around 70 trait points. Even Lyssa can’t hide the fact that particular reality is an impossibility.
Otherwise, along this same line of thought, there is really no need for a higher level cap if the intent is to keep us at 70 trait points. Seriously, that’s the only attribute that really matters on a level up.

Nope dont see any reason for a lvl increase.

I love how pretty much every single person here voted no.
Of course the devs will completely ignore this, because they’ve already stated publicly that they built the game to allow for planned level cap increases, most likely for expansions. So it’s a valiant effort but all for naught.
Get ready to vote with your wallets when the expansion comes out.
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.
No.
Only way I would say yes is if it was strictly the number. No increase in HP, no new armor, etc, just so you can know how many times you’ve hit 80 again.
Please NO, I’m sick of levelling to 80 on my alts as it is. Make me level more and it’ll compound the issue for me. In a game that is not meant to be about levelling adding more levels would kill it for me.
In single player games like (Diablo or Elderscrolls) I would say most definitely yes, but not this game, the levelling and down levelling make levelling redundant… so adding more levels wouldn’t make sense. :P
No.
Everything that could feasibly be implemented via a level cap increase could be done without breaking the promise for no gear grind.
New traits and/or trait points? Tie them to achievement tracks in expansions, or have extremely hard skill challenges called “trait challenges” which do the obvious.
Gating content based on progression? Open world: tie zone unlocks to some sort of counter based on renown hearts, dynamic event completion in the previous map, etc.
New skills, weapon sets? No reason to tie those to level progression, just like what we already have.
If they can find a way to increase the level cap without voiding everybody’s gear, I wouldn’t complain as such, but it’s not particularly necessary to evolve the game in any way.
Heck no!
minchar
With the dynamic level adjustment I’m not sure why we have levels in first place.
Unfortunately, GW players have no vote on this so if any WoW player want Level Cap increase we are going to have Level Cap increase.
-ArenaNet
no…it is one of the things that chased me from another game ( actually the game had a ton of issues for me; this was just one of the last nails in the coffin)….just no
Yes, if it means more trait points. I’d also be fine with leaving it at level 80 provided they built in a way for us to earn additional trait points past the 70 we have now. Why do I want more trait points? For the stats of course and because it will make more builds viable.
The level cap increase is pretty much a lock at this point. They have indicated several times there will be some vertical progression when the expansion comes out.
Its a bit more complex then yes or no for me i would not mind seeing higher levels but more on the lines of level that only add things like MF GF Krama % and higher level skills to chose from even high level gear that adds nothing just more looks ect… but over all not higher buffs.
What level 81 would give you +.1% to mf gf and krama% and no skill but say at level 85 you get a new set of skills to chose from.

15 characters.
Wow, I didn’t expect all the no’s in here…
I am all for a Lv cap increase. I play these games for the incremental increases, not for the long periods of stagnation. I need to be rewarded consistently and within every few days, however small the reward might be. These months-long grinds for Ascended and Legendary gear are the reason why gamers like me (the ones willing to purchase gems) leave games, especially when they don’t even come with an increase (Legendaries).
I’d happily grind Dungeons for Lv90 and Lv100 gear all over again. I’d happily spend a day earning gold to upgrade a trinket to higher stats again.
God no…. ….
This would probably be the worst move yet , having to deal with the new ascendant gear aka vertical progression would mean that we need to regrind allover again at the raised level cap. I sure hope they will not go this route.
NO, it doesn’t need to be any higher, more horizontal progression is required.

Absolutely not. If I wanted all the work I’ve done to be completely meaningless when the next expansion comes out, I’d play one of those other MMOs. Ascended gear was bad enough, we don’t need more levels.
