And the bugs keep piling up and up…but we have a shiny island and refugees. Kudos.
So they already had a bug regarding achievements and didn’t decide to include further tests for future updates and it happened again.

You can keep refreshing this page until we have a manned station on mars and you won’t find a response.
As a developer myself, I’m getting more and more curious to see their code architecture. It seems very fragile.

Thank you. See, more of that and faster. But one note: it’s not just displaying incorrect numbers, the achievement is really set back. If it were just showing incorrect numbers, it’s affecting the total achievement points.
Will this fix also fix the bug with the Pumpkin Carver achievement?

And any chance to maybe get a post that explains how this happened? Would just be nice to know how something like this happens and gets through testing.

What this achievement points loss, after a so called server maintenance / reset, further confirms to me it that Anet does much more ‘tweaking’ to the game during these periods than they let on.

This has an impact on players who have been or are trying to collect statistics on loot drops, ecto salvage rates, etc. This basically invalidates any probability assumptions derived from statistical analysis because the game is not even a natural RNG system.

It is more likely that Anet fiddles with a lot more game mechanics during server maintenance than with designated patches or content updates.

You have to take into consideration that just a few weeks ago they made big changes to the achievement system and over the next month and a half they are making even more and bigger changes to achievement’s too.

What could have happened was them putting systems in place that are going to be working with the update on the 26th. And all the achievements that got reset or bugged out are likely ones that they will be changing in those updates**. Yeah it’s annoying but it’s honestly not a huge deal.

That being said, the point that they make more changes than what they actually say is going on during those server maintenance’s is a good point and something a lot of people, myself included, probably never considered or put much thought into.


**If this is true and I’m thinking it is, that means we can look forward to new slayer achievements. One’s that go beyond 1000 kills, which seems rather shallow considering I had a lot of those complete within the first month of the game being released.

Sadly…anet’s QA with this game has been embarrassing since launch. If what I said is true it shouldn’t really be all that surprising given the history. We’re still playing though so I guess they’re doing something right, but still…

The only other company I’ve seen that had worse QA in their game was DICE with Battlefield 3/BC2.

Sadly…anet’s QA with this game has been embarrassing since launch. If what I said is true it shouldn’t really be all that surprising given the history. We’re still playing though so I guess they’re doing something right, but still…

The only other company I’ve seen that had worse QA in their game was DICE with Battlefield 3/BC2.

The QA and the PR, both are very bad. And if this continues, I might end up quitting. I find myself playing less and less…they definitely did better work with Gw1

Same problem here, a lot of weapon master and slayer achievements are 1 shy of being complete now, and some other like pumpkin carving is missing.

I skipped the last two weeks, so I saw these problems today.

My 100 percent map completion disappeared TODAY.

So this bug is like a langolier. It just randomly eats any achievement you had in the past, and seems to be continuing to eat them.

jUST REALIZED AT MY CHARACTER SELECT SCREEN THE WORLD COMPLETION star is at 62% but my highest character is at 63%. Caps lock ftw.

I went and recompleted my 100 percent map. There is some very funky math going on in the Achievement section. Someone needs remedial math.

I took screen shots in case the bug fix bugs my new achievement. And no, I did not get rewards for completing 100 percent map complete the second time.

Much cheaper than the crafting options people suggested. Two pies should be less than 10s.

The key is patience, this is a big beautiful game so enjoy the other aspects of it other than achievement aspect, in the spirit of playfulness.

Yes, l lost a lot of achievements as well but so what – I can wait for a fix. Why – because GW2 is a game, not RL.

Beating up people for doing their job is harsh, they are employees doing their best and were hired because they were smart enough to do the job. Everyone makes mistakes and mistakes are necessary to learn from to improve anything real or pixel.

Last part is the important thing. They don’t really seem to learn.
Yes, bugs happen, mistakes happen. And it’s not the achievements what’s bugging me. It’s how they seem to go about testing and handling.

How can you come say it’s a display issue? If it was, we would not be getting the achievements back by slaying a single mob of this or that kind, or with this or that weapon. And the achievement points would probably not be changing. No, you really screwed up, why don’t you just admit it?
Making a mistake is human, but when you stop admitting you did, and start circling around the mistake to avoid admitting it (even blaming someone else for it) is when you lose our respect. And us, in general. And you’re alredy on thin ice after the christmas recipe thing…

My world completion went back to 99%. also NOT COOL, because idk which WP i need to rediscover to re-complete it (since, you know, i HAD THEM ALL ALREADY). Still have the character title.

@rgwng – I don’t know if you have already checked in cursed shore or not but I know that they added a WP there. It was said it wouldn’t have an effect on world completion but I’m not so sure.
I finished all maps except WvW (stuck at 97%) but I noticed that in cursed shore I now have 99% complete when I had 100% and received the reward some time ago.

- still missing my survivor acheivement, stalled at 499,999. I am pretty sure I can redo the overkill acheivement with a crab in southsun but the survivor is not so easy to redo.

I am also stuck, though I am at 79/83. All I have yet to do is let may mailbox get full, as I apparently have not done that yet, but the achievement tracker indicates that it hasn’t counted at least three other hints that I have completed.

Additionally, after doing the Frozen Maw a couple times tonight, I still haven’t gotten the Svanir’s Bane achievement under the Bosses section. To my knowledge, that’s just a go-and-kill achievement, and I have gotten gold and looted the chest whenever I do this event (I’ve done it on different characters, as well). Worked today, with a smaller group. I am going to assume that previous attempts were downing the shaman too quickly (for example, quick enough he didn’t transform), similar to how groups often get Tequatl down before the Megalaser even fires.

i ve noticed this topic is a year old..and even then many things mentioned here are still not fixed.
why is it so hard to fix things like hint completion ? i tried filling my mailbox and leave it..it went even to 16 mails in it..still no achievement completion.

just like the gold hoarder..how the hell do we get it now? maybe a fix for it will be linking it to the money you earned in total?

for many players stuck at these things it gives a sign that anet doesn t listen to them , so please fix these

The mail one has always been tricky. While the inbox only counts player and gemstore mails, any other mails in the box will prevent you from getting the achievement. The best thing to do is to clean out your inbox entirely, then try again. Have guild members send you mail. If you reach 10 mails and still don’t have the achievement, log out and back in on that same character.

I’m not sure if the new content Achievements has been hit by this, but I’ve had issues getting Exposed weakness done. I did it with 5 people, one person got the achievement in the group and I didn’t. I did it again with 3 people and once again I did it under 15 sec and it didn’t give me the achieve. I also did it with 2 people and it still didn’t give me the achieve. Could this issue be preventing from getting the last achievement?

The issue discussed in this long idle thread is completely different than the issue you are experiencing.
