Age of GW2 Players
32 and like it, i want them to fix a some things sooner though and address a few things but beyond that.
Im 22 and im having a good time playing gw2, i think what i enjoy the most is having a more relaxed play style with no scheduled raiding. With work and last year of college its very helpful.
37 here and loving it. First MMO for me, even though I’ve been into RPG’s (tabletop & crpg) for 20+ years. There are a few issues here and there, but I’m thoroughly addicted to this game. It’s scratching an itch that single player RPG’s never did and I’m constantly surprised how much fun I having – there are times when I get adrenaline rushes over a tight battle. That NEVER happened in single player games for me.
26 here lovin it!
Pushing 45 here, and I have guildmates who are older.
Where’s my Geritol?

I’m 23. Never played anything like this but love it.
21 here, I love the game. Mainly because it’s completely different from the others.
In all the others MMOs I have played I got bored way before reaching the max level.
I am 36 and my husband is 34, we both play and enjoy GW2, although he is more of a hardcore gamer (works from home and can literaly be on 15+ hours a day if he so chose) and will probably get back on a game with a sub and a hamster wheel rep grinds and gear grinds and factions galore to worry about. shrug to each their own.
I cannot wait to see the new content and the lands that are named on the map but unavailable. Oct. 22 is going to be a fun day!
The main difference between this and other mmo’s (that I can see) is that this one has a PvE style that is focused on exploration whereas others are focused on gear. I would MUCH rather go exploring than kill the same boss yet again in hopes of getting my newest drop (have done this since eq, and I am quite bored of it) The addiction for me has always been the exploration and the world I find myself in. In that regard this game has done exceptionaly, the only thing I would have liked would be an option to get rid of the maps entirely as it removes the mystery when exploring of what is over the next rise.
40 and I’ve been having fun playing the game since head start. Currently working on leveling my second character to 80, this time through WvW.
The main flaw of this kind of topic is it won’t provide you with useful data if your point is to prove that younger people tend to quit this game more easily than older ones.
Simply because people who will actually be answering this “survey” will be more likely to sill be playing to the game.
I’m not even taking into account the fact that there’s a larger proportion of the “older players” who are participating on the forums than among the younger population.
To answer the OP, I’m 22 and I still play to the game. However, I play it for a (way ) shorter amount of time per week because I feel like I have already played the whole content and I don’t want to do any legendary. (and yes I am full exotics, yes I did every paths of all dunjeons, yes I’ve got alts, and yes I’ve played PvP).
Whenever I log into the game I just help my friends in dunjeons, play the market or play PvP.
23 and loving it.
Something that I’ve seen pop up several times in recent threads is that players who are 28 and older seem to love this game, while younger players seem to want more and eventually leave the game.
Eventually? The game has only been out for a month and a half. For an MMO that’s no time at all.

I’m 29. I have quite a few criticisms to make about some of the odd design decisions, but in general, I think it’s a triumph.
57 years old here… and loving every minute of it. Wife is 48 and plays right along with me. We played all the BWEs and stress tests, plus all of the Head Start weekend. Love the game!
Dravyn
[SoR] Sanctum of Rall
[LoE] Legend of Elijah
55 here and love the game though a few things here and there feel or look not quite finished. Not a-typical of a new game though. My daughter is 35 and my husband also plays.
35 and i love the game. Wife is 31 and she loves it as well. The thing we love the most about it is the game starts at level 1 and not at the level cap like most other games.
I feel so young here, reading all these comments. >.<
Anyway, 13 and thoroughly being entertained as of now. I hate games where ‘the real game starts when you hit level _’, so this game is perfect for me. :P

24, heading towards 25. :(
42 and still dig it. Anyone under the age of 28 is still a kid anyway…and their opinions simply can’t be trusted
I’m 46 and my wife is 48 and we both love it. I think we 40 plusers need a class with a walker or cane as our main weapon. lmao! Seriously though, the game fits us like a glove.
Just turned 54.
Husband is 58.
We both play the game.
Couldn’t wait for GW2 to come out, and we are enjoying it very much!
38 and loving it.
I’m 33 and enjoying the game. After playing WoW for eight years, it feels really nice to play a MMO that doesn’t feel like a full time job.
22 and enjoying it, certainly not thinking about quiting yet:)
31, loving it. Played WoW for years, and suspended my WoW sub a couple weeks ago after picking up GW2.
I’m 34 and completely enamored of this game.
I’m 48 and enjoying the game. 2 characters at 80 so far and levelling more. My husband of the same age is enjoying it too, though he can take it or leave it more. The only aspect I think they could improve on significantly is the personal story, which was too fragmented.
Am i like the only player who is younger then 20 ( i am 15)?
Because I would love to play with some people of my own age, though I also love to play with older people.

Nah, there are probably other young folk around. This game has a wide appeal, and if I were a teenager I’d be even more addicted than I am now. (Stupid … job. Gotta pay for gems somehow.)
40 something or another and I stopped counting birthdays many moons ago. I have also noticed trends in younger gamers but I’m not going to start a rant right now.
Now Get Off My Lawn !!
I’m 21, soon to be 22 and I love this game, I can’t get enough and so far I’ve mainly been doing PvE, I have yet to fully experiment WvW and sPvP, I guess by the time I start getting bored of the current content something new will arrive in Tyria =)
42 and almost addicted.
47 and a firm believer that you don’t stop playing because you get old… you get old because you stop playing.
28 and its my favorite MMO ever, which is impressive I think for Anet because after like SWTOR and Warhammer and the other long sad list of A+ release absolute failures I was ready to say the genre was going to be dead forever… glad to have been wrong.
26, and I love the game. Been playing since early release and still finding new things to do everyday.
29 and this is the first MMO that I’ve played on the PC (finally decided to buy one that was decent enough). I’m pretty much hooked. Now if only I can get my anti-gaming wife on board!!!
Brute The Beast {80 Charr Warrior}
Dodge The Builder {70 Asura Engineer}
I’m 20 and love this game. I’ve been playing since the first beta and stress tests for pre-purchasers and played Guild Wars for years before that. I’ve played EQ, EQ2, DDO, and WoW, but Guild Wars 2 is easily my favorite MMO.
27 and enjoy it.
Young people tend to give into peer pressure more. If their friends are playing other games, they’ll play other games. If they see more people playing other games, they may play other games simply because “it’s the cool thing.”
I am 61 and my husband 68. We left hellokittyislandwow 2 years ago and are so grateful to have landed here. We also play other mmo’s but are increasingly just playing GW2. Great community and great game designers. Thanks and kudos to all.
Turning 19 and loving it. I don’t even like MMOs! But GW2 is simply a fun game!
48 and loving the game.
For me it is -very- close to that elusive ‘perfect’ MMORPG.

35 and having a fairly good time, though the endgame (event farmfest) is starting to bother me.
They need to make a lot less mobs spawn, and make them way tougher. People with high, low cooldown AoE are ruling the crap out of those without.
But then I just start playing around with the market, only takes a few minutes every time I log on to update my buy orders.
Funny fact: The younger people from my guild (21-25) has ceased to play already, just like the OP describes.
38 and really enjoy the game. I’ve played MMORPGs (MMOs) since the original Everquest before Kunark (which I still have very fond memories of), but I’ve only played a few. EQ to DAoC to SWG to WoW to SWTOR to GW2. To me, watching the evolution of MMO gaming is as interesting as the games. Watching the economies, the interactions of players, the life cycles of games, whether they die, or what they have to do to keep subscribers, then the F2P concept. Its a really interesting business and social phenomenon.
This post is interesting because I just started thinking about the evolution of the gamers themselves. I didn’t expect this many older players, but I do think it has something to do with the casual nature of the game. In all the MMOs I’ve played, I always hated the end game grind for whatever it was, and I hated raids. I went on maybe 3-4 at various times and always wished I had the 4-5 hours back that it took to complete them.
Anyway, I love that this game does not have that pressure for “uber-ness”.
Cheers.
48 and can’t get enough of this game.
20 and i think the game is kind of green. As any new mmorpg, it has a lot of things to do. Imo, it lacks of endgame stuff. I still enjoy it, but I entered the game with another +-9 friends, all experienced in MMORPG, and almost everyone has returned to play LoL in the last couple of weeks.
I’m 19 and loving the game, my only issues with it are my intense lag (a problem on my end) and the lack of an active community in most maps. I love the game play and the professions, but it’d be nice if it were more like the first week or two where people would actually converse. Oh well, still love the game and I don’t see myself quitting anytime soon.

I’m 39 and GW2 is the pinnacle of game design for me.
25 I like the game, but I just don’t see any reason to play at the point where I am.
100% World completion.
I’m 24 years old.
Most of the people I know playing GW2 are older than me.
26 and will likely come back to check out major updates and maybe play some WvW or sPvP now and then.
