I have made it my job to protect all the rabbits, so now I send letters to known killers hoping to guilt them into killing spiders instead.

I’ve been doing the daily every day for a couple of months, and generally like the new system. But I’m not really sure why some of the options recently have been so specific. Kill 5 veterans in Maguuma? Kill 40 enemies in Kryta? 4 events in the Shiverpeaks? Why make them region-specific? I’m doing World Completion – let me play in the regions I choose!

They’re trying to group players in the same region so as to make the world feel less empty. Some people don’t like being told where to play, that’s understandable… but I personally enjoy the presence of so many others wherever I am in PvE.

We took the Kill ten rats quest and then we doubled TRIPLED it!

Well, the only suitable way to hit an armadillo is a kick and only 2 classes have than on demand.

I agree with this. I love killing the ambient creatures with fire / ice / lightning and watching their different animations (I’m particularly fond of the fire rabbit death animation where it looks like its trying to put out the fire with its paws). I’m probably a horrible person because of it, but oh well.

I have to admit the first time i fire balled a bunny buy mistake ( really i was aiming for the Minotaur ) it was OMG its burning but it gets easier after your first.

I bash Spiders and Rats. I do not kill Raccoons or Rabbits, I feel dirty…

W.o.w. If you are really that worried about kids wanting to kill creatures in real life because of a daily you should step outside. The greys will still be in game without the daily and the children could still fight them without any incentive. What if the child went into wv3 and saw he could kill people, do you think they are going to want to kill someone in real life? Also, if the parents aren’t teaching their kids right and wrong, then no matter what happens those kids will have issues.

Basically, it really is just a game.

As I recall, the ESRB rating for Guild Wars 2 is T. For Teen.
So it’s okay to kill other living creatures (like people in WvW?) but not rabbits?
You can pick your daily now, no one’s forcing you to do it. I will gladly pick the ambient killer, as it gets done quicker, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to go out and slaughter kittens. It’s just a game!

if games = real life, any form of killing would be bad. Imagine children playing Angry Birds and start using birds as sling ammo….

OP…I’m an animal lover. Not just the cute ones. I’ve done a lot of work with animals in my life and I have no problem with shooting of rabbits or deer. I wouldn’t do it myself personally, but I recognize that many people do..for sport, to eat…whatever.

We can’t control every impulse on every person. These animals aren’t endangered (and in some cases rabbits are a pest species anyway).

While I understand your concern, the only way to stop children from being cruel to animals is to teach them how not to be. No game is going to do this. And no normal kid growing up tortures animals.

If that were the case. think about what happens to cats and coyotes in cartoons on television, much more violent and graphic than anything that happens in Guild Wars 2.

Teach the kids, because the influences around them aren’t going to change.

I’m not quite sure if I follow you here. Where did that come from? I personally think that mindlessly bashing anything is and ought to be morally illegimite behaviour. Pacifism is a respectable and coherent stance or life philosophy, but in my humble opinion it’d make a terrible mmo.

Parents that allow their very young kids to play should know about this and act accordingly to letting them do very little in game or not game at all until they’re old enough.

You can always kill crow plague carriers in are below Lions Arch or rats in some charr camp, so there is no morality issue here. And this daily gives you opportunity to level up a char while killing a bunny which is rather funny experience.

If you’re worried about kids seeing this then surely they shouldn’t be playing violent games at all.

Got to love fake morality. you can’t kill those poor bunnies. Our children will learn to be cruel to animals that way, but sure go ahead and kill human(oids). They won’t turn into serial killers from that…
