Ambient killer daily
I certainly find no pleasure in killing wolves, they are my favorite animal by far. But..Its just a game and they are walking lootbags/potential daily killer targets/xp. Nothing personal and they do attack me first.
As for good wolves in literature, if you can, read the two books in the wolves of time series by William Horwood. Awesome books!

Yes its just a pixels and 95% of guild wars population wont become animal abusers because of that but we have children playing here. Proposing that bashing rabbits or kitties to death is rewardable ( which is what anet is suggesting here ) is wrong and i bet in some form – illegal.
Yes yes this is a game but we have too much violence in games already, why add more?
You are proposing that 5% of us will now commit atrocious acts of animal cruelty?

A lot of us already do. I mean, I borrowed my friend’s cat to make lolcats after completing my Ambient Killer.
(No, I didn’t, I went and made lolcharr instead. Because boredom )
Found the vegan.
It’s one of the easy dailys , and Yes I have a guilty conscience for killing dem helpless bunnys still weird that they allow it
I’m sure nobody would intentionally kill somebody’s beloved pet, which is what you’re implying
If only that where true.
I deal with a number of rabbit rescues around the world, what I have seen tells a far different story.

And your point? I will not kill the in game rabbits. If you have a problem with that, it’s YOUR problem. You can play anyway you want. I don’t know you, don’t play with you, so who cares? I will play the way I want (which is not at all currently) and it’s actually rather odd that you seem to care so much how I play? I wonder, can you explain how a complete stranger not wanted to kill an animated animal that I see as a pet in an online game effects you in any way, shape or form?

I think the point is…why are you till posting here if you already quit and of all things on this subject? Is it because this subject is the very reason that you quit (that’s what I got out of your original post)? Seems kinda over the top if you ask me but hey…to each their own.
You do not have to do it.^^ But OP wanted it taken out so nobody could do it. But really where will you draw a line? Kill 50 Mobs is ok, but some rabbits is not? It should be left to each person if they want to do that or not?

I never said I agree it should be removed, I simply said I did not like it. I actually don’t like the whole daily system itself at all, but a few of them are worse then others.
Are we now not allowed to voice our opinions unless it’s to play fan boy?
I said I would not do it, I did not do a lot of the crap anet added in the game but what does that have to do with anything? If all you want to hear is praise for the game and don’t want to see anything negative, you may as well turn your computer off now.

Give me a break. Pick a different daily then.
That’s the new Daily for you. Always pushing players to do things that don’t fit in with their desired play style.
Actually you get to choose from 9, so your statement is false.

I never said anything about what you do ingame. I do not care what you do ingame. You were the one bringing up your experiences with real life pet rescue and cruel people that do cruel things to animals. I just pointed out that it wasn’t in any way connected to people killing pixel bunnies ingame.

If you’re not even faced with the choice whether or not to kill the rabbits, because you quit playing, who are you to sit here and complain about it as if it affects you at all in the least?
Why don’t you go on a Red Dead Redemption forum and complain about all the animal skinning that goes on in that game?
Say, are there any free-roaming snakes in GW2? I don’t recall seeing any, but surely there should be some in Godslost Swamp or other swampy areas.
I would imagine them, as Jim Stafford said in his song ‘Swamp Witch’, hanging “thick from the cypress trees, like sausage on a smokehouse wall…”
I don’t think there’s a single snake in this entire place.
I saw snakes back in beta. There was one that I remember clearly, located in LA, along the road to that SW gate the tengu are camped at. Now that someone’s mentioned it, I don’t think I’ve seen any snakes since then.
But if they were around, I’d burn them too.

Until here your statement was clearing a possible misunderstanding. I was actually under the impression you wanted them to be taken out even though you don’t play anymore because that seemed a reason to quit.

These are just some useless insults. You don’t know anything about me or my opinions. And it has alot to do with the actual topic because like someone said before, everyone has his own moral standards and give people options allows them to follow these at least to a point.

http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=32125&Title=Guild%20Wars%202
It’s a teen rated game, ‘children’ shouldn’t be playing it in the first place. The ESRB rating mentions a lot more worrying thing things for a parent than a killing of rabbits. In fact in many countries rabbits have vermin status and are killed regularly to protect crops, this is in my view a fairly normal thing. In the UK rabbit was more a more popular dish than chicken until around the 1960s as it was cheap and readily available.
I’m not aware of any area in the game where you are able to kill domestic cats.

ikr? what about daily gatherer, ripping out all those poor defenseless vegetables, fruits, berries…
i just had to go next door after and stomp around in my neighbors garden.
Seriously? But it’s ok to kill the human pirates though right? It’s a game designed around combat. Are you really getting huffy about this? It’s so ridiculous that you felt the need to complain about this and make it an issue. Did you really ask “why add more violence?” regarding a game that is entirely about combat? Does the fact that they made rabbits critters rather than full on NPC animals with viable health bars denote that they’re innocent beautiful creatures? What about the majestic stag? Or the territorial bear? Or the quirky moas (ostriches?)? Honestly, just stop.

Killing enough ambient creatures should trigger the PETA event, where they will attack you and you must fight. Actually, I’d love to do that too. =p
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

beware the angry chicken. I wouldn’t mind having angry rabbits in open world too.
As has already been mentioned, rabbits in Australia are a menace beyond comprehension.
Rabbits while cute; are a bigger pest than rats IMO. As long as you kill them quickly; kill more. (luckily you can’t help but kill them quickly in GW2 – death animations not withstanding)

I know about rabbits in Australia. I also know they were a big pest during the Dust Bowl era in the United States. One is a textbook example of why you don’t introduce species outside of their original habitats unless you’re WELL sure what you’re doing, and the other is an example of competition of food supply gone REALLY pear-shaped.

That was a while ago now, but I heard it was somewhat serious.

Are you suggesting that killing lynx’s and panther’s, some of which are on the US endangered species lists is somehow a better “lesson” than killing kittens or rabbits?
What about this is illegal? You completely lost me.
I am very happy though that you realize these are just pixels and this is just a game. The game is rated T for Teen. Most teens don’t like being called children. If children, or anyone under 13 are playing the game, then that is the parent’s decision, not Anet’s.
More bunny bashing! Actually can we get a bunny toss mini game? Sort of like a carnival game where you can pick up bunnies and have to toss them into a barrel or something.
We know that some rabbits mutate and become extremely dangerous (for reference see Monthy Pythons documentaries) – we also know that the Grawl are utilizing rabbits to fight us. We also know what the rabbits do when we are not looking. As good citizens of Tyria it is our duty to do everything in our power to control this potential menace of mass rabbitation. With great freedom comes great responsibility. Or was it power. Orr? No undead rabbits there – the Asura should investigate their magical immunity.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
I guess since doing something in pixel format will then convert me to doing this in real life…. (that is just absurd so follow me down this path)
I just bought a chainsaw (it’s 2013 afterall) and I will chop down every tree. Gathering has told me there are rewards of experience and gems and money.
They should remove gathering because it teaches people not to be aware of the environmental detriments to clearing out trees on such a rampant degree as in the game.
Sadly people think that doing something in a game will convert to real life. That only occurs if you had the predisposition to do such actions.
I always find topics like this amusing.
I work for an animal conservation charity devoted to a particular group of animals. I spend all day working on ways to keep them alive and persuading other people it’s the right thing to do.
Those same animals are depicted in game and I don’t think twice about killing them.
The two have absolutely nothing to do with each other. What I do in the game has no bearing on what I do in real life, any more than playing Warcraft 2 means I want to conquer the world with an army of orcs. (Even if I could.)
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
(…)

It’s a good thing that you are playing this game and not others – or worse, watching movies with people with chain saws. That’s what I heard at least.
On topic, it’s almost a no-brainer to “pick” this daily category, will likely be done in most cases on it’s own. Seriously, if you are playing any class with AOE abilities you likely killed many ambient creatures already without specifically targeting them.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
‘Old Sledge Site’ Waypoint in ‘Mount Maelstrom’ has lots of bugs and frogs if you’re sick of knocking out bunnies dead cold.
It may be a bit ghoulish, but freezing bunnies makes me giggle. The death animation is priceless. And yeah, those bunnies are probably descendants of the evil GW1 bunnies and totally deserve it. They’re planning world domination while tricking us into thinking they’re harmless.
I agree with this. I love killing the ambient creatures with fire / ice / lightning and watching their different animations (I’m particularly fond of the fire rabbit death animation where it looks like its trying to put out the fire with its paws). I’m probably a horrible person because of it, but oh well.
Arcane Blast is a lol for me. The mobs just rise up like gods but then are shocked into oblivion.
Do not click this link!
Way back when I played Horizons, PETA got involved because one of the sources for leather for crafting was “cute, helpless deer”. It was laughable. In this game we can also kill deer but they are not considered “ambient”. My question to the OP however would be where the line should be drawn? Are chickens ok to kill? I do like hot wings once in awhile and barbecued they are delicious. Cats? How about rats? Some people like rats, most do not.
In the end it is not about what effect it has on “children”. It is the duty of the parent to teach children the difference between reality and fantasy, right and wrong and not the duty of some computer game.
Rabbits are evil
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?

That would be so so skipped if it showed up. Skipped so hard it would bounce. I’m not kidding, we would hear of some poor developer who got knocked out by an invisible concussion from how hard people would skip that one.
I feel dirtier killing Skritt than ambient creatures, at one point you are trying to save them, the next you are killing them.
Same with Jotun, once you know their history.
Or ogres.
In truth you could become an NPC, stay at home and bake cookies, since if you don’t travel outside the kitchen there is little chance any of these creatures you are out wailing tar on will find their way to your home.

Guild Wars 2 is rated “T”.
If you’re younger than 13, then your parents are responsible for all of the squirrels and rabbits you blast with fireballs on the way to school.
