When did you start to run fractal lorddavito?

I think the confusion is you say you do fractal50 everyday but never stated when you start doing it.

I don’t count my fractal runs but since i run since they came out, i did a lot of runs and can confirm it has been 4 months since i seen a skin as a reward, 2 months i’ve seen ascended weapon chest, and 3 weeks since ascended armor chest.

That’s not what I said now is it? I said that different accounts have different magic find. When RNG interacts with that magic find (which is different for each account) it produces different results. It’s the whole underlying premise of magic find. Therefore the statement of " RNG doesn’t use anything of the user" is meaningless as RNG in of itself is meaningless until it interacts with our accounts (which again have variation).

That said….in the same thread……(if I recall right..the very next comment)…I noted that JS missed the correlation between a “stuck account” and an “outlier”. An outlier is essentially a stuck account till the time in which it is no longer an outlier. Basically the two are one in the same. It would be like saying “We don’t have weapons, but we have things to hit people with.”, which ofc doesn’t hold water.

I can’t believe you spun what John said into something completely different. John indicated, correctly, that all accounts are made equal in the eyes of RNG. No one account is luckier than another. It’s a cognitive bias. You compare your string of bad luck against someone with good luck, and based your assumptions that your account is worse off.

Now you are correct in saying that Magic Find does affect the outcome for each individual account. But realize that John wasn’t basing his answer on this. He’s talking about everyone’s account at a zero sum. RNG doesn’t discriminate, nor does it have preference. If Dusk has a 0.05% chance of dropping, it applies to everyone (before MF modifiers).

I did nothing that wasn’t spot on. I didn’t spin it into anything that it wasn’t. I simply explained why what was said, was either inaccurate (like the 2nd point) or inconsequential (like the 1st). I did not say anything about my own experiences in that post.

But you’re trying to make it sound like John is incorrect in his statement by spinning the facts in your favor. All accounts are equal, period. No one individual account is luckier than another.

It’s like saying Newton’s law of universal gravity is incorrect, because there’s no way for us to correctly calculate it 100 million light years from the sun.

I’m not trying, he was incorrect, at the least in his wording for that specific case (the one where he contradicted himself).

Your analogy refers to the other case. For that, a better analogy would be saying that “gravity effects everything the same”. Which is fine, but basically useless until you consider the relevant variables…ie…mass and distance.

Actually John was correct and his wording was perfect.

There isn’t such thing is some accounts getting stuck lucky. Yes there’s an RNG, yes it’s random and there are streaks and outliers and an even aggregate distribution.

Can you confirm whether it is an RNG that uses some sort of value from the user’s account or whether it is purely random/session based? I have a friend who swears that smack-talking an anet dev during a beta weekend pvp match doomed his account to poor rng for life.

Absolutely it does not use anything to do with a user.

His response is clear, there is no special value on the user’s account that affects RNG, it is purely random based. So for example account name, or account creation date or anything of the sort play no role in the RNG for loot. He is not talking about Magic Find here

I swear people don’t read. They just jump on whatever they don’t like and ignore everything else.

That was not the quote from JS that I said was incorrect. The one I said was incorrect was the one where he said “there are no accounts stuck”…then in the same post said “there are outliers”. It was incorrect as the two are for our sake the exact same thing. So he was incorrect in saying we didn’t have one, yet had the other.

Look, a space to denote separate thoughts ^…… The premise to which your responding is the one that I noted with the gravity analogy..NOT the incorrect statement.

This Fractal topic has been talked about before. As someone previously stated, Anet should tie the skin rewards to collecting Fractal tokens, as they do with standard dungeons.

Of course, if everyone chooses the one or two most desired skins, they become more prevalent and less prestigious. But i think that’s an alternative people would be happy with.

I hope people dont’ get discouraged. And wish everyone good luck on their run.

The King guild have done extensive research on drop rate and I find it useful. If anyone is interested check out the link below

So, this may sound as a Q_Q forum, and maybe it is, but really the RNG is a serious problem and ruining the game for me right now really

This is one of the main reasons why I currently don’t play GW2 and also (sadly) one of the reasons why I will probably never buy another game produced by Arena Net. Basically my viewpoint after 2,000 hrs play over 3 years is you have almost 0% chance of getting a great drop. So what’s the point playing really?

I like about 70-80% of the content in GW2, so its a bit sad but I am completely disillusioned with Arena Net, rewards and RNG. So much so, I will avoid Arena Net and probably NCSoft games in future, since there’s no point investing the time.

Here’s a stimulating discussion of RNG here:

I really believe that GW2 needs a system that eliminates the frustration illustrated by the OP.

Please stop trying to put words in my mouth, I know what i meant and I am sure others understood what I meant so stop trying to twist it.

I understood perfectly. Let’s say I am a customer in a restaurant and you are the waiter. I call you over and say “my fries are burnt. I can’t enjoy burnt fries, please bring me another plate of fries that are not burnt.” and you say “Oh, I am so sorry, here’s a cup of tea. Enjoy!”

Did YOU get it?

More like you buy a chef’s choice dinner at a restaurant and complain when you get mac & cheese but you wanted steak. You knew what you bought so you cannot complain.

Yo listen, this is going off topic Cazamar and Anyandrell.

Ofcourse I am very aware how RNG works and that it’s here, and I know I shouldn’t be complaining, but with 900+ runs, and since the topic posted another 9 runs completed (FULL RUNS, yes.) and nothing again, makes it about 950+ runs with no skin.

I am very aware how the system works, but being with people that get skins dropped all around me, people with every single skin they can get and then there’s me, 1 skin.

It’s just nonsence and it really makes you bring up question marks about the unlucky accounts. As for precursors, I play ALOT, all content, daily base, getting close to 6k hours, 3k gold into MF, haven’t seen 1. EVER.

You can’t possibly have 900 level 50 runs, fractals weren’t even released 900 days ago. And even so, the “real” level 50 fotm was released with Fractured much later

It’s hard to count pre-fractured runs for skins. pre-fractured fractal skins weren’t dropping any faster/better at higher tiers, but after fractured at level 50 they drop quite often.

Fractals:
I’ve been running for over 900+ fractal runs on level50, personal reward lvl50, and I got 1 skin in total.

This is why people complaining on the forums about RNG is almost not worth reading. Fractals haven’t even been out 900+ days and you only get 1 daily chest per day. And then calculating the time it took people to get to 50. Then calculating the reset and getting back to 50. Why should anyone believe anything you say when this is a blatant lie?

You people need to wake up from this dream called “RNG” that the gaming companies have eluded you with.

Buy gems, convert them to gold, get what you want. This is how it works. ANet WANTS your money. “RNG” is a more sophisticated way of frustrating you to the point of giving in and following this process.

Arena Nets are used to catch Gladiator Fish.

The only suggestion I can make is to max out your magic find. I have gotten a couple skins out of Fractals but I rarely run them and I didn’t get them in a lvl 50. I got one in a lvl 36 and one in a lvl 43. RNG sucks but what do we do? Just stop trying? Its kind of like gas prices….yes the fluctuation really sucks and there seems to be no rhyme or reason most of the time but what do we do? Just stop travelling in cars?

To survive this world you must be mad as a hatter. Luckily for me, I am positively insane.

I have recently posted on this same article, but more centred around the mystic forge and RNG in general. I have played every day for 3 years, and have definitely noticed a change in drops with each and every patch. The drops from bosses would be an average of 3 rares from bosses, this has changed to 1 rare (only good for mystic or salvage if you have 13 lev 80 fully geared characters). But the most noticeable change for me has been the mystic and bosses, and if you get an exotic these days, its now dropped from a lev 80 (usable by characters) to level 75, and more than likely a Sigil Of Force. (only good for salvage). So what is RNG? that was my question, and imo, its a number that can be changed with any patch to reduce or change the drops. I enjoyed the Mystic Forge as part of the game, as their was always the chance of a decent drop, but alas no more. I have MF of 216 base, and even tried with over 340 mf with boosts, no difference, mystic stones, no difference, so that’s my opinion, the RNG is subject to change at any time. My solution is simple, I just play the game with no expectations because I want to just enjoy playing, however, it also means I don’t buy gems because I used to purchase them to buy an item, then the balance to buy BL Keys, and these drops have also changed. The rewards of the game have dropped significantly to be noticeable, as many players have noted in this and other discussion threads. It would be nice if ANET could look at rewards, as its all about the gear, the clothes, the weapons, the prestige, nothing else.
