I mean chosing your weapons skills and having a wider choice in terms of skills you can choose.

I quit the game last December and wanted to know, since I didn’t like to be forced to play “meta” to do well in PvE. In Guild Wars 1 any weapon could be good as long as you had the good build for it.
So far, I searched and still there’s nothing about that. So I guess the answer is no.

Could anyone confirm ? And don’t start about the healing skills from the Living Story, that was a joke.

When you say meta to do well in PvE do you mean doing dungeon speed runs and high level fractals? Those are the only areas that would possibly require you to choose a cookie cutter build.

For 97% of the GW2 content you can use whatever weapons and build you want and still do well. You aren’t forced to do anything.

I don’t have a link to a dev response, but I’m pretty confident what you are asking will not happen ever.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

No it’s still restricted. We are still not allowed to use any weapon we prefer or want. And can’t alter the first 5 skills. Unlike in gw1 where we picked every skill (as long as we learned the skill) we wanted. I miss the builds we could come up with.

Although I dislike having locked skills, I have grown used to it and instead carry around many (sigil) variations of the many weapons available to the classes I play. I currently run around with 15+ weapons on Warrior, 10 or so on Guardian.

It’s different but I can still enjoy it, and in a way makes me feel less locked down than GW did; it’s an interesting, and even sort of perplexing satisfaction as I’m such a proponent of the GW skill system, but I do find this to be a potently fair exchange.

Maybe give it a try (or don’t; I know I’ve heard testimony from too many people that insist changing weapons is “too hard” or “not important,” but when you’re trying to mimic or replicate actual skill diversity…).
