Anyone else ONLY play humans?
I wish I could delete my two human characters but they know recipes no one else does so they languish at a crafting table. :P
I have two human characters out of 12. One is a key runner, human because that’s the most efficient key run. The other is human because I needed one to do the human personal story. Otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered cuz I think making a human is boring compared to making another race.
ANet may give it to you.
Yay, someone else like me x)
I only ever play human males made to look as close to me as possible (including physique and height etc)
I don’t know why but I just like having myself in the game as if I was in that world instead of this one. I prefer it to playing as some random cat thing that I have no relation to.
Another thing to add is that people say that humans are boring, but we are still a unique race in the game – the same as if we were asuras playing the game, we would find playing an asura boring
Every single one of my characters are humans. Female humans to be exact. I don’t put much into the story of my characters or anything. I just find that the armor and animations are the best on the human females. I would have chosen a male, but they are just too bulky for my liking.
I play primarily human females. My main ele and mesmer are human. I do have characters of the other races though, usually more just for the aesthetics and lore than anything else. Though my asuran mesmer did see a lot of love for jumping puzzles.
For the most part, I lack a proper imagination when it comes to MMOs. I am a human male, so I struggle to identify in a game with anything other than a human male. My character’s looks very rarely deviate from my own. I don’t RP or anything like that, but for some reason I just feel like my avatar should be as close to me as I can get. Almost like “If I were born into this world, I’d probably still be some version of me” sort of thing.

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who does that!
And yes, I’m a human male both in-game (in fact, in all of my games) and in real life.
I primarily play humans….>.>
I play all races except Norn and my main classes played most are all Sylvari. I also only play malez cuz I is male. :>
I generally design characters to be either similar to myself or something I wouldn’t mind being in such a world. Except with Asura and Charr; as I just made cute pets to play with. XD
Yes, other classes are weird looking.
I have an asura and a charr, but I don’t do much of anything with them. The rest are all humans, including my main. Never been big on short races and charr and norn are just too large to really work for me. Sylvari…even if I did like how they looked, I don’t want any relation to Trahearne.

So true x)
I made a goal of having a character of each profession and race, but still ended 4 human females out of my 12.
The first 8 are basic classes, but the others I made for the expansion. A Charr male Revenant (A character I had in mind, but felt the profession fit him better than Ranger). Another female Mesmer (Chronomancer), 2 male Syilvari, one warrior and one Necromancer, A human male Thief, and a rerolling a low-level Elementalist into Guardian (Dragonhunter.) to fit her original concept.
No ideas for new Elementalist, Engineer, or Ranger
Your welcome ANet. I love me some extra character slots.

I primarily play humans as well. Asura do nothing for me visually although I do like them as a race overall.
As for Charr….
I play mostly human because the other races just aren’t appealing. I have one of each of the other races just to experience the rest of the game.
I tend to only play humans in every MMO.
Half of my characters are human and the other half are Asura. I flip back and forth between which I like more any given month…at the moment I am loving the Asura again. I find humans boring sometimes but kitten it, their armors are amazingly gorgeous.
I dont play with humans. If there is any other option to chose I will pick it instead…
I just basically dont like to be a human >.< in RPG…
Im human irl why I would want be same Canc..r in MMORPG? a specially when there are Charr and Asura… Who are fair enough designed race and not sexualized by silly human standards : ) like other devs doing that.
In GW2, even the other races use phrases/references that come from modern American real life humans.
I play all human females. I’ve tried all the other races and what I don’t like is how armor looks on them. Female asuras pretty much just get boy armor (with some exceptions) and their funny feet always stick out. Charr – even worse. I find no real distinction between males and females and I think they only look decent in heavy gear. I think all the plant people are just blah and weird looking. Norns again only look good as males in heavy armor. When I see a Norn female in light armor I shudder cause they just don’t pull it off at all. So, that’s me and my reasons for only playing humans. Also, none of my toons looks like me. Rather, they look how I wish I looked in real life :-/
I’d like to play more Charr… but that Charrmour…
So I fall back on Sylvari because they’re more colourful then humans or norn (which are basically just big humans).
I could not restrict myself so. I theme all my characters though to suit the class, hence my norn is a huge warrior that is a drunkard and spends most of his time hacking at stuff with his axes. My necro is a plant person as I believe that being only on Tyria for a short period of time would make death related material appealing to them. The only human I have currently is my thief, but as I play him as a sneaky underachiever with delusions of grandeur it suits him.
Actually I was surprised I had more charr than I do Human chars when I looked at it….
I am still self-debating if I should roll Human for Rev or another Norn ….

Before I respond to the OP, you know Flesh that technically you only got to play one of the human personal story lines…you’d have to create way more characters to play every single story line in the game…which is one of the reason ArenaNet made the Personal Story the way they did.
The only game I played ONLY humans in was the original GW, because I had no choice in the matter…otherwise the answer to your question is NO. As to why, well, I just realized with what I said to Just above that I’m going to need a lot more characters…yes, I know the Personal Story merges at Lvl 50 and is basically the same from there on out for everyone. However, before that point, each race has 3 different starting journeys, which works out to a total of 15, and from that then you would have enough characters to choose each of the secondary races to help that each race has…hmm, food for thought.
No, in fact I rerolled my one human character to Asura. Humans are boring, there’s nothing distinctive about them. Norn have great cultural armor, Asura get all kinds of great cultural and distinctive looks, Charr aren’t my thing but I get them. Sylvari are… um… interesting. But humans are ‘meh.’
I tolerated it with my Ele for a long time because she was smokin’ hot, but as time has gone on human females in light armor or light-armor-like outfits have managed to become something like 50% of all characters in the game. Short ones. Why are they ALL short? I don’t get it. At least my human is max height for a smidge of uniqueness.
It’s sad really, since GW1 had such a great variety of lore and backgrounds for humans, it’s the only MMO I could really get behind them as a race. For GW2 though, they went out of their way to consolidate all that lore and blandify it again. Bleh.

Well, I have 8-80’s for all the classes and all the races. I figured this would give me an edge in wvw, understanding all the functions. Three of which are human (my one female in the game), two asura, one charr, one nord and one sylvari. But more than prominently I log in with my male human ranger thief. Sometimes with my male human engi grenader mostly for wvw tower defense to get a change of pace. So yes, I could technically say only playing humans. I could say the others are more… lab rats hehe.
I RP, but not here. Game is too casual, designed more around immersion gaming, not really RP friendly. RP more requires faction, language, land possession in some cases (more of a sandbox thing), and personal tools that in some way effects the world around you. Not saying GW2 should become that, but just that it’s not an ideal setting for it here, I have other games for that and don’t need every game to be the same.

Initially, I chose one character from each race just to see how it worked. Later, I made a couple of extra asura, because their movement appears speedy and made me laugh. Eventually, if I re-rolled or added to the roster, I considered the voices: I can’t stand some of the voice acting and don’t want to be stuck with Norn female or human male. Some of the stories are more fun than others, so that was a consideration too.
I don’t think it’s “boring” to go with only one race/gender, but I do think it prevents you from some of the other fun things in the game.

I only play humans usually in mmo’s, sometimes I will play an elf when I can though… but as for GW2 I only play humans.
i mostly play female norn or sylvari

Please wait a moment while Miss Tyria, Miss Shaemoor and Miss Kryta come up with an official retaliation to your claims.
I only play human as well, and most are male (my 3 mains Mesmer, Guardian and Ranger). I have a little back story where my 3 mains are (great?) grandsons of my GW1 assassin.
Only time I usually play another race is on female asura in PvP (because they look cool with Orrian Lich armor) as an elementalist and my engineer, who is a Scarlet look alike.
My Mesmer is a male, but for PvP, I made a female human Mesmer for the new Exemplar outfit. She is a PvP only character though.

I only play human females, yes.
I would never consider another race to play unless I wanted to make a character specifically for trolling, like a nomad guard male norn max size etc.
If I want to actually enjoy playing my character it needs to be aesthetically pleasing, not ugly and I find asuras/norns/charr to be hideous personally.
The only game I’ve never had issues playing a human is GW1. Partly because I didn’t have a choice but also partly because they did a great job with the story. I’ve had issues playing a human in this game for a long time until I finally made my GW1 necro as a ranger in GW2. I love her, she’s pretty and unique looking compared to most of the other humans around.
My other two are a charr (my main), and a sylvari.
Human is the only race I’ve never played. I always avoid playing as humans when I can; I see enough of them in real life, I want something different in my fantasy.
The bulk of my character list is norn, actually, with some humans, an asura, and a sylvari mixed in.
One race I just can’t play is the charr. Can’t get over that ol’ Guild Wars 1 racism, I guess.
I only have 1 Norn, 2 Sylvari, 1 Asura, and 1 Charr, and even they are all RP based.
The rest are all Humans on this account, and another 6 on the other account.
Sure you can make only chars of one race, but think what you are missing out on. So many unique looks only are good on one race.
ANet may give it to you.

Me. I have many other races, Asura, Charr, Sylvari, but I am like you on the selfie aspect. I usually just make me or as close to me as I can in video games. I feel like everyone should feel the grossly incandescent sumptuous light that is my beautiful mug.
My smile could bloom a thousand lillies.
I have one of each for the story achievements, though I’d prefer to stick with Sylvari/Asura otherwise…
Well… And I had gimmick names for them I wanted to use. Which I was originally just going to screw around with, but I liked well enough that I can’t get rid of them. >_>
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
I only Play as a Human Only if the underlining Curcimstances are the only Races avaliable. But my Character are mosly a bunch of Charr and Asuras. I am tempting to roll a Human Character to get myself into the Story, I always love how each race plays out in different perspectives in the Story reaching to the end of Living Story.
http://imgur.com/a/zCZli#0 – I just put this album togather of all my Characters. I don’t have anymore slots to make any more races, I am a idea kind of person always coming up with new styles.
I do like the Human Race but had no ideas yet for what he will wear, But that’s what makes me stay in games like this one, Having so many customizations for all sorts of races, The Sky is the limit.
My Main is Charr Race. But heh my Main Charr (The one with blue glowing eyes) I am a human lover and Human sympathizer, I think in my eyes Humans and Beast look cute togather. Also my Friend Korissaa mostly play as just Human Race Only.

This thread is boring :P
Yes, even though i have other races, they are just there for the emperor title/racial story achievement.
Every race other than human is plain boring.
Only ever made 1 human that I kept for a long period of time for probably no reason. It gathered dust and did nothing; I had more aesthetically better looking variants of it but in different races so I deleted it.
I rarely ever choose humans when it comes to MMOs etc. I find them boring unless there’s specific clothing that actually only works for them. Meh.

I look mostly like a tree / walking salad man. So I have to go with slyvari. But I understand OP making characters that mostly resemble yourself.
#SylvariMasterRace
probably, so?
And as for you feeling like a “weirdo” – walking into any random occurence of roleplaying in MMOPRGs will certainly cure that warped image of self, trust me on this…
Why play humans when Norn exists?
Everything looks better on Norn from armor to weapons. Norn is just a big human..:)

N O P E
Got one of every class and two (male&female) of every race except Asura.
Though I very well understand the “avatar” syndrome.
My first and main is human and I regard it as my avatar in Tyria.
But the others are not, that´s kinda the point of RPGs for me. Trying out different roles and what the game offers in “style & aesthetics”.
6/7 of my chars are Human. I just don’t find the others (mainly Sylvari/Asura) that appealing.
