Ascended aqua breather

yeah, it’s necessary as the 6th armour slot … to not even be able to get an exotic, I do wonder what anet was thinking with the lack :/.
Imagine when they throw us into a larger scale map, event, and/or story that focuses us more in water combat – This will then come to pass.
This has got to be, for me, one of their more baffling non changes in the game. It’s been almost 2 years and they can’t even add it in as a drop? Put it in crafting? Add it as a reward for personal story?
Yet they can find the time and effort to add additional invisible walls to Salma to inconvenience the role players.
The solution has always been to make the aqua breathers cosmetic so the stats and rune come from the helmet. Asking players to make more ascended items with more runes is just asking for time and money loss for no benefit.
[Wtb] craftable aqua breathers integrated with the other armor. Offering about 13.4 metric tons of Bloodstone Dust.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.

Yeah, I’m sure that’ll never happen in this game.
…but the op is spot on – it’s a strange thing to be missing.
You don’t need to even wear a breather when fighting or swimming underwater. They do not count except for sigils and even then I am not sure about it. Why bother with an ascended item when they don’t matter?

I tend to agree. I can honestly say I’ve never died underwater saying if only I’d had an ascended aqua-breather.
Just make it cosmetic. It’s annoying to have to think about which of your equips’ rune sets shall work underwater… only to come to the conclusion that underwater combat is easy and kitten, so you just keep your white aquabreather that you got at level 1.
its about the principle
we DO NOT NEED ascended harpoons / trident / spears or legendary and yet we have them.
it would be nice to just have a breather with stats of my choice and worthy of a scholar rune.
and not some random stat that is of no use to me at all.
all about the principle !
and yes I want it ascended to complete the set !

Very much this. Since we actually can’t even disable the visibility of them i would also have no problem with removing them complete and just use the helmet all time.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
As said above, should just have helmet count for stats and make the waterbreather into an optional appearance item. Same with back items in my opinion, although people have already invested in those, it just feels like an afterthought in design.

Let me craft an ascended breather.
I only battle underwater for achievements. I can get by with mastercraft gear for that.

Love this suggestion. It would make a lot of sense to simplify things in this way instead of making new craftable ones and complicating the process.
It’s not like we spend a majority of our time underwater and there are still so many issues with underwater combat.

Bump This!
Where is ascended aqua-breather?
I am just noticed WTF with my stats when I underwater.
Now I see, ANET mocks players.

I would like to have an aqua-breather with e same stats of my choosing it does not have to be ascended.
Should add it it in with 500 Jeweler.
if they release fractals above 50 this would be needed for the ar underwater for that first fractal. Or for swamp if you are….bad at the game :P
+1 but make it so it can be crafted with any of them i.e. armorsmith, tailor, and leatherworker
I don’t want a craftable aquatic breather. Instead, I want breathers to be skins only — the stats should come from the headgear; we shouldn’t have to buy a 7th rune for the limited amount of time we spend underwater.
How does “runing” actually work with an aqua breather..does it replace the helmet?

Yes, it completely replaces the helmet for underwater sections. So if you have a six-rune set, you need to make sure to get a seventh rune for your aqua-breather.
I got an exo aquabreather, just saying.
kitten , I should learn to read, Roxer beat me to it.
The whole thing is a joke anyways. You don’t even drown if you take it off. Also, there is a missed opportunity of story and immersion: you simply have it already as freshly created lvl1. You don’t even have to do a quest or something to get it. Just look at WoW with the Cataclysm expansion (first zone Vash’jir) in 2010: that’s how you introduce you to underwater.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I’d really like an Ascended Aqua Breather. Make it so Anet, please?
There actually are exotic breathers with a decent attributes variation in GW2 – Rime-Rimmed Mariner’s Rebreather. Not that they are very easy to get, plus they only were obtainable during the wintersday.
How does that help somebody today? They were very easy to get btw- you just had to finish a pvp reward track.
I use traveler runes on four characters, and I always hate going underwater with the 3/4 that don’t have a rune on their breather. It’s personal preference; all the “nay sayers” can simply just not get one if Anet ever fulfills our wish to have craftable aqua breathers.
Bah. They should just get rid of the stats for that. Make it mere a skin you can pick in the same panel as outfits.
The outfit panel should not have only outfits. It should have:
- Breather slot: replaces the default breather appearance. Many existing skins that cover the entire head or look enough like a closed helmet would be added there, like the gas mask, the hellfire helmet, and the sorrow’s furnace helmets.
- Hat slot, to pick hats among all outfit head parts and other cross-profession non-armor skins like glasses, facepaints, scars, masks and hats. This slot allows combining outfit and standalone head skins with other outfits and armor.
- Secondary face slot. When a hat that leaves enough face revealed is equipped, whatever has been chosen in this slot is shown. Here players can put items that only cover the face, like masks, glasses or the monocle. This allows combining certain hats with glasses and other face gear.
- Swimwear slot. This replaces the underwear shown when armor is hidden, like when using diving goggles. Many more places that hide armor will be added, like hot and cold healing springs in several maps that give a 10min effect that heals over time, beach areas with minigames like volleyball and beach tennis and leisure locations like a bar by the shore of a beach like the one in Southsun. Southsun Survival and Crab Toss would also hide armor for players participating.
- Back item slot. This slot will allow players to freely switch between back appearances without constantly spending transmutation stones. Each character has to unlock it first with 10 transmutation charges, though.

Those were never “easy to get” for anyone who didn’t PvP.
In any case, since the actual breather isn’t required to swim underwater (take it off — you can still breathe just fine), there’s no reason to require an extra piece of armor + an extra rune. It’s not so bad for those who use only one armor set, but it’s a pain for people that swap often.
