1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence. Easy. Done!

-

240 Philosopher’s Stone. I get skill points like nothing for doing the things I love… playing the game! No problem!

-

50 Glob of Ectoplasm. Hmm. That’s a lot. But I can do it! It’s worth it for ascended items.

-

250 T6 fine crafting materials. 250. T6. Fine crafting materials. Especially vial of powerful blood. What… the… KITTEN?!

Alright. I guess I’ll have to work at it. Farm these materials from mobs that drop them commo- oh wait. They drop on average like once an hour from the mobs you farm them from!

Not only that. You have every one crowding the best farming areas so mobs become very sparse very quickly.

T6 fine mats are going for MORE than globs of ectoplasm on the TP. If I were to buy it straight out. That would be over 70g off the TP! I’ve never had more than 30g at one time.

You can self-craft/create ectos on demand and yet there is only one way to get T6 materials that is determined by a low drop loot table. Don’t even suggest the mystic forge because for the price of the materials to forge T5 materials into T6, you could literally buy T6 materials straight out for less.

250 is too much. I’d rather be playing WvW or running some dungeons than killing the same mob over and over for approx. 250 hours. Please reduce this to a reasonable amount. Like 50. It’s not like we’re wanting an epic legendary grind.

It seems you didn’t look into the requirements to actually make it infused. 250 ectoplasms! and 5 of these condensed mist essences.

But I agree, this is pretty much my only real problem with the gear. It’s a long and tedious process of killing the same kind of mob for over a 1000 times to hopefully get 250 pieces of the T6 fine mats. It’s as exiting as watching a snail crossing a footbalfield.

that being said, we don’t actually know the requirements for any other equipment pieces yet (but there has been an awkward silence surrounding this subject though)

Yes, not even addressing the wrongness of grinding gear in a non-grindy MMO, Anet has added the mother of all gear grinds by any measure. Really grindy MMO’s are easy by comparison. I assume it has to do with the inexperience of Anet with gear grinds as they have been vocally opposed to them in the past.

Don’t really care about getting it infused. Rather get the stats for general game play and WvW.

We don’t really “need” in the same way we don’t really “need” exotic items. But when you finished the Personal story, and are dressed fully in exotics (and map completion), then this gear is the last carrot to go chase. (and I think a carrot in a game is a good thing, it gives people something to do or aim for in a game.)
And this one doesn’t look particularly inspiring

If you’re only trying to farm t6 crafting materials you’re doing it wrong. You should be farming t5 materials and upgrading them. You will also get a few t6 drops in this process, too.

It’s very easy to get 100+ potent bloods in an hour or two from various spots in Frostgorge.

Yeah it’s a bit tedious but it’s a much more reliable method than actually seeking out just t6 crafting materials. You should be able to get all the powerful bloods you need in a week or two of light farming (1-2 hours a day).

This goes for people trying to get t6 materials for legendary weapons too. Also, you get t6 materials from making mystic clovers.

So what are your alternatives if it’s not upgrading t5 materials or buying them outright off the market.

You’re farming t5 materials to convert. The cost to you is minimal at the worst. You might have to buy some crystalline dust but that’s all. You could get anywhere from 20-30 t6 materials an hour by upgrading t5 materials you farm yourself.

I think you missed my point entirely.

Here’s what it takes:

50 of the t5 material
1 of the t6 material
5 crystalline dust
5 philosophers stones – you get 10 per 1 skill point

If you farm all the t5 materials yourself you’re still getting other weapon and armor drops that will more than cover the cost of the dust, which is likely the only thing you will need to spend any gold on.

This is one aspect I think Arenanet made mistakes. I think most people who played MMO consider gear(stats) is a fundamental need by everyone and should be obtainable within reasonable effort. For vanity items and cosmetics, people are more forgiving even if the drop rate are near impossible to get.

This is one part I think that Blizzard balance fairly well in WoW, they made gear(stats) fairly reasonable to obtain with some effort, but some vanity items for example like some special mounts (strat UD mount) had like 0.1% drop rate but people in general was still okay with it and would mindlessly grind for it.

Seems like Arenanet totally went the opposite way by making the gear much harder to obtain than vanity/cosmetics items.

You’ve got to be joking.

Take an OP trinket, give it a miniscule drop rate and put it on a ginormous loot table, then hope the Raid Leader, Guild Master, Loot Council, Ninja Looter or heaven forbid another layer of RNG with rolling for the darn thing doesn’t get it first. Then lock the instance so you can only run it once per week for extra special fun!

All it did is if you were lucky one tier and got the drop, you were “good” that season. If you were unlucky, you couldn’t get on a decent RBG team or in a decent raiding guild – you “sucked”.

It’s quite frankly lazy game development to artificially extend the game’s life. It discourages playing the game how you want and promotes burn out where you quit the game entirely.

i dont know if its lazy design, maybe the game really need another tier after the Exotic, but 2 things are sure:

  • its really too expensive for a set that is going to become mandatory, because better stats are always mandatory.
  • for what i see, its now well designed, it invalidate old content like runes, sigil and jewels.(and exotics items too) instead of the new infusion slot, they can create a rune with +stats and agony resistance. all this new infusion mechanism, after only 3 month, have not so much sense. its like whatching 2 games merged together, its better if they decide to use or only the old upgrade, or only the infusions, because the game is becoming quite confusing.
Because, like Guild Wars before it, GW2 doesn’t fall into the traps of traditional MMORPGs.

Crafting an exotic set is getting harder and harder because ascended and legendaries keep inflating material prices.

Enjoy the new grindwars. Don’t be surprised when you finally grind out blue infusions that the green ones appear in game… then yellow… then orange… pink… red… I’d assume the requirements for those will continue to increase, as well as naturally making the former ones obsolete.

Ascending gear. Descending game.

Ascended requirements are unreasonable!

The dedicated player base requires these things to be so difficult to obtain that they can be assured when they get them that they’ll be statistically better than most everyone else for a good while. There’s no other reason to play video games after all.

This industry just needs to move on. We’ve seen a bunch of “WoW 2.0” attempts, and
who actually wants that? Do we really want to be playing those same game mechanics for
another 5 or 10 years? -Mike O’Brien

Rather just be best in slot and have my character looking aesthetically good.

Leave the ones who want to have a status symbol to the legendary hunters and 100g commanders.

Is that much to ask?

If the majority wanted it. Why is the majority complaining about it?

The majority didn’t want it, only the hardcore players who was whining there was no endgame. These new changes will destroy the game.

protest this travesty of a patch -
Get it taken down -
Do whatever it takes if you care about this game -

The majority is not complaining.
A majority would mean that about 1 million people would complain (based on pre-sales).
That is far from truth.
