Apparently this is what the majority wanted. A grindy gear game.

If the majority wanted it. Why is the majority complaining about it?

The majority is not complaining.
A majority would mean that about 1 million people would complain (based on pre-sales).
That is far from truth.

And lordkrall would know this being employed by Anet and all.

You’re assuming that 100% of purchasers use the forums, when clearly this is far from the case. All strands of evidence point to anti-ascended being in the majority:
1) the 12K+ post thread. this was > an order of magnitude more posts than any other post in the history of the game.
2) http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/74916-ascended-items/ – a sample of 1300 players, 46% of almost 1300 votes are against ascended gear, 31% for.
3) http://beta.xfire.com/games/gw2 – a sample of 4K players – the expansion has barely touch playtimes, and aggregate playtime continues to decline.

downed state is bad for PVP

There are also people who no longer play the game and voice their opinions on websites such as mmorpg. A lot of it is negative about the new ascended gear.

But I don’t really care that it is a new tier of gear to obtain. Though it does discourage me from gearing up my alts. What I really care about how ever is that it should be relatively reasonable to obtain the stats you want and the look you want.

I could get an endless quiver RIGHT NOW if I so desired. How ever the stats wouldn’t be correct to my build and thus I would be playing sub-optimally. Really poor how this is implemented.

T6 materials are easier to get than people realize. Farm for 50 of the t5 equiv then use the mystic forge to transmute into 5+ t6 materials … sure you’ll have to do that 50 times but its easier. Or better yet, just loot farm in the 80 zones, sell and use the coin to buy t6.

T6 prices are high because people have been transmuting from t5 mats. Do a price comparrison, alot of the t6 are atleast 6x the price of the t5.

But yes, either way it is a grind, and even more so with the currect drop bug.

You don’t NEED the infusion for anything but Fractals

Actually, you don’t need the infusion for fractals, either. Some people want it because they want to do fractals, and infusion will make that easier. Fractals is not required, so something that makes it easier is not a NEED. Other people who don’t intend to do fractals want infusion if it makes them more powerful. The one want is not more valid than the other just because a game mechanic exists that says that certain content is easier if you have x.

Now, if all infusion did was protect against agony, that would be one thing. However, I’ve seen references to a +Precision infusion, If true, that would be something that would be more generally desirable. Again, if its “precision only in FotM” that changes things.
