So it was stated that they can drop from anywhere you can normally get ascended mats, but I have not seen anyone or heard anything about it.

I’d really like this to be a thing, because if you have a variety of weapons and you just happen to not have a crafting maxed that’s more crap to add on to the already stupid
farm.

I originally maxed Armorsmith and Weaponsmith, because of the legendary, and I’m fine pushing Weaponsmith to 500.. But I’ve never really cared for crafting and if I had the option to not, and still get best in slot I would.

Apparently people have gotten them from champion loot boxes and capturing keeps in wvw. That’s all I heard about.

Yesterday, someone linked their Ascended weapon drop in map chat during one of the Scarlet invasions. So, they do drop…occasionally. =)

They drop as a chest with a set stat combo, and you pick the weapon you want of that stat. If you get a Wupwup Weapon Chest, you’ll be able to pick any ascended weapon type with Celestial stat.

The problem I have with this system is that I only use a few different weapon stats across my characters. Berserker, soldier, valkyrie, rabid, rampager, and cleric. There are 17 different stats available for ascended gear (based on the choices the inscription recipe has). So that gives me an 11/17 chance of getting a weapon chest that is useless to me, or at best, significantly throws off my build requiring other gear to be replaced to fix stats.

I usually wouldn’t mind getting a top tier drop of something I can’t use, but I do mind when I can’t even sell it.

I just received one from a champ box, it came as a box with the weapon stat combo’s name, and you get to pick a weapon with that combo, mine was rabid.

IMO, it should have been done the other way round. Instead of it giving us a stat combo and then letting us pick the weapon, it should give us a weapon and let us pick the stat combo. Plus, a lot of people use many different kinds of weapons, but not many different stat combos. Also, the stat combos dictates the color of the skin, and that’s a big deal for some people (like me).

Someone from my guild got one from a champion not 3 minutes after the update.. I opened over 400 champ boxes and still nothing >_>

IMO, it should have been done the other way round. Instead of it giving us a stat combo and then letting us pick the weapon, it should give us a weapon and let us pick the stat combo.

I don’t know why they chose to go the other way. I know if I ever do get a drop, it’s going to be some stat I have no use for. At least with a set weapon, and selectible stats, there is a higher chance of getting something useful. This is especially true for those that have alts, even if it’s just one alt.

It would make even more sense to have them drop as a token, so we can then go pick a weapon from an NPC trader.

I think they’re account bound.

Really disappointed with the way we acquire them. It’s either a long grind (UGH) or through RNGception (RNG to get the box tied with RNG to get your desired stat).

Took a screen somebody getting it from the jungle worm boss.

Someone on my server got it from the chest in the golem event. Needless to say he showed it off right away.

They drop, but are really rare.

Ascended drops are very good news to me.
Reminds me of GW1 boss hunting – which I missed A LOT.

Now I have a reason to go out and hunt those bosses.

Here’s a shot of my ascended weapon drop I got today. It was from the daily chest at the end of a level 24 fractal. My main doesn’t have much use for the stat combo but the chest is account bound and it will eventually go to an alt I deem worthy.

Yes they drop.

But don’t put a whole couple hours into two days grind and then complain the droprates are unreasonable like precursors.
