Congratulations! As one of our most loyal players, we value your feedback. We want to invite you to join us on March 24 to stress test Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™* and find out what you think.

Please note that this invitation is nontransferable. Don’t share your account information, but do share the fun! You’re welcome to discuss your Heart of Thorns experience with friends and on social media. We also encourage you to provide your feedback on the Heart of Thorns subforum.

The stress test is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Pacific and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Pacific.

To participate in this test:

Prior to the start of the test, make sure your Guild Wars 2 software is up-to-date. You don’t need additional software; you’ll be using the same copy of the game to participate in this test that you use to play every day.
When the test starts, log in to your invited account.
Click the Create Beta Character button.
Create a new human character. (All professions will be available, including the new revenant profession.)
Log in with your beta character to be taken to the beta testing area.
Please note that your beta activity—including character development, account-based development, and spent currencies—won’t impact your live Guild Wars 2 account. Your beta progress will be saved for the duration of the stress test, but all beta characters and beta account progress may be deleted at the end of the test period.

I’m very happy to hear this! Having in mind that betas are starting it makes me hopeful that perhaps the expansion pack will release in summer rather than autumn. Either way you have fun and the rest of us will probably get more info about all of it soon

Congrats. It seems the Beta was a drawing of sorts from what I read. Despite that I hope they at least invited some Mac customers to test it as well. Sure the Mac beta is a cider port but there have been past updates that busted it that I think could have been avoided if they had used Mac testers.

Also — this is important: Our invitation does not include links of any kind. If you or someone you know gets an e-mail that suggests you use a link for any purpose, that is not from us. If you get an e-mail that appears bogus, please delete it immediately. Do not click links. Do not visit sites other than our own in relation to the test.

My e-mail actually had a link in it which says it goes to the “Heart of Thorns subforum”, and the e-mail was from guildwars2@ncsoft.com.

Is this not an official e-mail?

Ok, scared me for a second.

And I was not confused, I was concerned, considering I saw a link, and you originally said “does not include links of any kind”. I did not click it, as I usually don’t click links in e-mails, so I had no way of knowing it was an actual link to the forums.

After reading a line in the email I thought it might be based on hours played, but then I saw Vayne (I know he has about the same hours as I) didn’t get one, so there goes that theory.

Anywho…very nice that no additional stuff is required to participate.

I wonder what the selection was based on. I’m the leader of a guild where most of my guildies who are far less active than me got invited, but I didn’t. It’s odd that the email states that the “most loyal” players were selected. Have all invitations been sent out?

I definitely consider myself one of the most active and loyal Guild Wars 2 player and I signed up for the newsletter in the first hour that it was available. I’m the only one from among my active guildmates who did not get an invite, that’s why I think there may have been an error or not all emails were sent out.

The way I read the message is that it was a lottery/drawing selected by active players that also subscribe to the newsletter. So somewhat RNG my friend.

Seeing that over 50 people in my guild (everyone who is active and has over 15k AP) got the invite, I think the RNG is only true to some extent.

Man, I don’t even know if I’m opted into the beta.
I’ve been subscribed to the general gw2 newsletters since launch but haven’t seen any info about beta signups. :T

Well no invite -not too have a complain but- when do i ever get Anything lucky at all ever in gw2. Subscribed too newsletter, been playing for 2 and a half years, averaging 2-3 hours a day never had any cases where ive been reported that i know of. – Never got a precursor, never get invite to BETA, never get anything worth more than 50g. Maybe i need to buy more gems, never bought a single gem with RL money.

I opened my Guild Wars folder of my email on my phone it was like “Get Early Access to Guild Wars: Eye of the North” and I was like O.o
Then it updated to the modern day. I look forward to not being in this beta (and hearing all about it from folks who did get in!) but hopefully being in a future one ^^

Well I didn’t do anything to get into beta, just got an invite! Unless I did it without knowing XD

I’m just glad it’s running twice that day xD. I was bummed out when I saw the 12-2 because I have to work, but 5-7 is perfect.

I did not get an invite to the stress test, but I would love to congratulate all of you who did. I am a bit jealous, though, because I was planning out on testing the Revenant class, and submitting any bugs I found with it.

I still can’t register for the HoT newsletter, so it doesn’t really matter. Never mind having played the series since the launch of Guild Wars 1 in 2005. Oh well. It’s hard not to be a bit bitter…

Happy Day! I got the invite! And I can do the first test, it’s before groceries … the second test will depend on how forgiving my husband might be of my ditching steak/movie in order to beta … (Or maybe I’ll spend Monday evening with him instead, yeah, I bet I can sell that to him, hopefully. /plots)

Bleh, I’m not surprised I didn’t get an e-mail despite supporting this game since GW1. (Got GWAMM from GW1, and 5k hrs on GW2 now)
My luck always fails me.

This is frustrating. All my active (logging in at least once every two days — typically every day) guild friends (eight people) got one, except me.

I love this game, but apparently I’m to be shunned because I’m not loyal enough, apparently. Feelings. Hurt.

At least all those popular streamers that don’t actually care about the game probably got in. At least I can take comfort in that. Wait. That’s not comfort.

Edit: I am literally about to cry though. Out of all the regulars in my guild, I won’t be joining them when they first set foot into the new area together. Together, without me.

For those of you that didn’t get an invite, it is only for a few hours anyway as a stress test. They did say there will be other tests later with a growing pool of players. So don’t fret.
