Hope some of us loyal players since GW1 get some emails
Bleh, I’m not surprised I didn’t get an e-mail despite supporting this game since GW1. (Got GWAMM from GW1, and 5k hrs on GW2 now)
My luck always fails me.Obviously not one of the most loyal players. /sarcasm
This is frustrating. All my active (logging in at least once every two days — typically every day) guild friends (eight people) got one, except me.I love this game, but apparently I’m to be shunned because I’m not loyal enough, apparently. Feelings. Hurt.
At least all those popular streamers that don’t actually care about the game probably got in. At least I can take comfort in that. Wait. That’s not comfort.
Edit: I am literally about to cry though. Out of all the regulars in my guild, I won’t be joining them when they first set foot into the new area together. Together, without me.
This beta lasts for two 2 hour sessions, you won’t be shunned for long!
That said, is there a specific reason you can’t sign up for the mailing list? If it’s due to not having the accounts email, I’d email support on your current email and ask to swap it over (they’ll need specific details like game key, possible receipts etc). If you do it sooner rather than later you should be in with a bigger chance to get into the next beta event!
I appreciate the help! I have two emails associated with my NCSoft Master Account (something irrelevant to GW2, however pertains to GW1). I do have access to both email accounts and have attempted on many occasion to sign up for the newsletter. One is a yahoo address and the other is a personal address (so they’re not the same email provider). One of these two are associated directly with my Guild Wars 2 account (and my Guild Wars 1 account). I’ve tried using different web browsers (Firefox, IE, Chrome, and Safari on my mobile) and I’ve registered every other day for the first week with the registration issues and then once a week after and have never received any confirmation that my emails have been accepted by the system.
Yes, the tests are only two hours in duration each, but it’s what my guild is going to be doing and it’s going to be what they’re talking about when they’re not doing it. I’m going to be left out of the loop with them, and it’s hurtful since we do everything in game together.
It just makes me sad. They’re apparently in the stress testing phase already; couldn’t they have just invited everyone? It seems so many have gotten in… And it makes me just not want to log in. I’ve already been deemed not very loyal, and I don’t want to be around by myself or be around when my whole guild is talking about something I was excluded from. And I wouldn’t want them not talking about it on my account of possibly making me feel bad.
I just feel like I’ve done everything I can do and it’s added up to nothing. While a good RL friend of mine that pretty much never plays (he has one 80 and hasn’t logged on since October when I hassled him to join me in the Clock Tower) got an invite somehow.
I just wish maybe the email used the word lucky in the letter rather than ‘one of our most loyal’. It makes me feel like they (Anet) feel I don’t value the game or the developer. And that is so far from the truth.

But I been signed up for the news letter since the 1980s
so yea.. not me then.. regardless of putting a fortune into gems :\ oh well whatever…
So quick question: I believe many people were already signed up for the original Guild Wars 2 newsletter thing that’s been telling us about the thrilling upcoming Living Story episodes for ages. This is the same newsletter as the Heart of Thorns newsletter, correct? Or is there confirmation that the HoT website is separate?
Cause when you go to sign up for the HoT newsletter it says:
Subscribed but not receiving emails from Guild Wars 2?
Please check your spam folder, or add guildwars2@ncsoft.com to your address book. If you need additional help, please visit our Support site.
So I assume they’re the same newsletter. That would explain the phenomenon of some people “not being able to sign up” because they don’t re-receive a confirmation email for a newsletter they’re already signed up for.
My feelings are hurt too. You play everyday, you are one of the first 130 people in the leaderboards (Europe), 7000 hours of play time, no precursor drops, you even drove 150 km to get the only and last collector’s edition with beta access in your region… still not one of most loyal players. So I’m sitting here, sad, with tears in my eyes, while my friend who quit GW2 along ago got a key… and is “one of the most loyal and active players in game”. I’m not…. somehow… :’(
Congratulations to all who got a key anyway… :’)

I don’t believe I received a confirmation of sign up either, yet I did get into the beta. I’m afraid it sounds like you just weren’t picked in that case, though I’m sure Gaile or someone at Anet could confirm your sign up if you asked.
I understand how much that sucks and I am genuinely sorry you’re missing out on guild activities and the beta in general.
I believe if you got the March 5 email titled “See Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns at PAX East, Rezzed, and on Twitch this week!” that you are subscribed. That was my only email confirmation of sign up, and I did get the invite.
So if you got that, but no invite, it may just be bad luck of the draw
Congratulations to you! I got my email as well, but my hubby didn’t get one. I’m very excited!!
I got the invite, and nearly stressed too early when I saw it fell on a work day. But then I read on and saw the second time slot, which I can make. Whew!
I’ll probably be playing an Elementalist (my favorite). I know a lot of people will choose to test the Revenant, and that’s great. But if I’m using something familiar to me, I think I’ll personally be a more effective tester of the other new stuff than if I play a sure-to-be-buggy new Profession.
Congrats to everyone who made it in! The rest of you keep checking your e-mail!
Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.

Thank you for saying the invitations do not include links elsewhere. I’m very excited having received one.

I got invited!! Hel yeah!!!!!
TBH I am probably b& from the beta program cos of the number of infractions/suspensions I’ve had on here!
I only rage because I care <3
Congratz to everyone who got an invite.
I’m not really surprised…I got no email.
Same ol…same ol…never got picked for a Beta I signed up for and probably never will.
Sigh…

Cheer up! There will be other betas before HoT release. ^^
Our entire Oceanic guild got invites except for the 3 Americans.
That’s some mighty nice xenophobia you got there.

So, here’s the big question: What features will and will not be open for testing during this?
Yes, it’s a stress test, but what new stuff/systems/areas can we put the stress on?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Boo, didn’t get an email. Was totally hoping to be able to play the beta for HoT.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
Middle of the day on a weekday, when most people are either at work or school. Interesting time for a stress test.

Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.
Do we have to have a spare character slot open for us to enter beta (those of us who were invited) or will one be given to us during the beta windows?
RIP City of Heroes
How do you even know you’re on the mailing list? I’ve signed up but didn’t receive any form of confirmation(yes I checked my junk/etc) I should be signed up from before gw2 launched cause I subscribed to the newsletter back then. What does loyal customer even mean? I’ve been around since gw1 beta weekend preview and didn’t get a key.

Thanks. But I don’t really think it’s going to change anymore. I’m a gamer for almost twenty years now. I stopped counting the Betas I signed up for long ago.
The only Betas I got in so far were those I paid for, like GW2.
Hey everyone. I didn’t get an invite either, though my boyfriend did. Yeah, it kinda sucks that I don’t get to play, but guess what? I am happy he does. It isn’t based on how much you play… or anything other than luck of the draw!! Be happy for those who get the chance… at least we will get to see some pretty cool previews from them. So to all of you who are the lucky ones… Congrats. Have some fun and if you see my man… push him off the cliff or something so he can GLIDE!!!

For the first one? It’s a great time for it. If everything goes well, they can ramp it up for the next one, but this should be enough of a load to shake out any up-front bugs.

Pretty happy, got an invite too.

This brought to mind my own email address and I checked it. Haven’t seen anything since the announcement of HoT, which is surprising considering you’d think they’d be bombarding our emails with new info for the game as it comes.

In the same boat, slightly gutted they chose the wording “most loyal players” Then again, I have never prayed to the RNG god.

Why? They drew the pool from the most loyal players/customers. They never said that they let all of the most loyal players/customers in.

One of the most loyal players?
I think this is really wrong.
I been support Anet since GW1 and i have Faction and Nightfall CE of GW1.
GW2 CE it was imposible to get in Bosnia and Herzegovina and i been invite a lot o my friends in GW2.
I’m no one of loyal players?
I’m not dissapointed for no CBT invite i’m just dissapointed for “most loyal” players.
Sorry Anet this is just wrong

I agree. Terrible wording. A slap in the face to any other long-time player who submitted their email. But let’s not kid ourselves. This is not a real “beta” where a gaming company is looking for testers. It’s a demo open to random players.
Have spent over $1000.00 in gems as of the first of the year. Little sad to see I am still not considered one of the most loyal fans. Guess I’ll wait like the rest of the people.
No idea if loyal means people who actual spend money or just people who play 8 hours a day. I would think people who spend money would be the better choice.

Yeah its just demo version what we seen on PAX, but still what makes some players “most loyal”…
Money, time, support over all years since GW1?
I really LOVE Anet and GW1/2 and i will continue support no matter what.
Please Anet just ll us who is “most loyal”?
Yay an invitation! Hopefully the stress test is gonna be smooth. 8D
What the…
“One of the most loyal” does not imply not being chosen means you’re not considered a loyal player, it just means a person who got invited is literally just one of the people considered eligible for an invite. They’re not saying they’re inviting everyone who is “loyal”, just a random few, so it’s only natural there will be people who are left out.
And congratulations to everyone who got invited, I hope you all have fun even if it’s likely there will be bugs and crashes galore (not a dig at ANet, just how early betas usually are).
(edited by Pandaman.4758)
I also got the email but unfortunately I’ll be busy the entire Tuesday, March 24
Does anyone know if this invitation a one-time thing or I can play beta on future tress test occasion?
I’m surprised at all the people who are upset. Had i not been chosen it wouldn’t have botherd me in the slightest. The email clearly states they chose people at randam from a large pool of those that met the criteria. ANet isn’t shunning you at all or trying to tell you to buy more gems or anything. It’s a DRAW. Sheesh. Take a step back and realize you might be chosen for the next testing stage. Two hours isn’t worth getting all up in arms and crying over…. is it?

It applies to this event only, you will get another invitation if you are invited to another event.
I’m pretty much expecting it will be like the demo. A bit of the a Living Story and then a fight with the wyvern in an instanced area, altogether lasting an hour and then back to the beginning to redo it all over again. After all, it’s a first stress test and not a run around and explore everything Beta.
ANet may give it to you.
No invite here, but I’m not too bothered. I’ll just keep hoping to be in the next one(s).
I am glad its starting up regardless of whether I’m participating or not, though. I was starting to get just a tad pessimistic regarding the supposed “shortly after Rez’d” thing since we hadn’t heard anything about it, thinking maybe it got pushed back. But it looks like that was just impatience on my part.
Grats to all the testers that did make it. May the test server rise to meet you and provide you with plentiful bugs to report (well, maybe not TOO plentiful).
Yay, got an invitation !

But it will be 3am in the morning for me, guess got to prepare some coffees. :p

I think you expressed this very well, Pandaman, and thank you. It truly was not “every loyal player into the test” but just “We’ve inviting a few loyal players” with the knowledge that this is a brief stress test and there will be other opportunities in the future!

Woot! I’m in! TY TY
I’m a Guild Wars veteran and I didn’t get an invite. Wtf?
I’m invited as well. Thanks a lot Arenanet, very happy to test Heart of Thorns! Will make sure to keep those timeframes Guild wars 2 only
PS Since some people realy are dissapointed in not joining the Beta, feel free to ask question in Heart of Thorns subforum. I will answer them As i can, since it will remove some of the dissapointment I think, for the people who weren’t chosen. I will do my best to asnwer them. After all there’s no NDA on this Beta. (Correct me if wrong of course, but mail says explicit ‘share your experience with others via youtube’.)
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
