So, after the recent nerfs to champ drops, what is the most efficent way of making gold, besides TP flipping?
Is it dungeoning? Or do champ drops still provide a good reward/time ratio? Or maybe node gathering/selling?
I used to do AC p1+p3, CoF P1+P2 every day (around 10 gold in 1 hour with good pugs), but since I have more time to play these days I would like to know from more experienced PvE people how do they earn their daily gold

am I the only one that finds it ironic that Copper Ore sells for more copper while…

silver Ore and Gold ore are worth less than 1 silver?

On topic; I guess running easy dungeons daily, Participate in meta events and even post-nerf , kill a few Champions.

according to alchemists, Gold can be made by combining sulfur and mercury or transmuting to it from lead.

This is accurate…..but you also require some level of skill that the average player probably doesn’t have.

They are still technically playing. If they like to sit in front of the TP [find it fun to] and analyze price / economics graphs then good for them. And flipping the TP is definitely not an easy thing to do if you want to make big profit.

Meanwhile, I like to WvW and I get a couple gold on a good night.

Frankly, I think the best way to earn gold is to do what you like best.

But I digress.

For efficiency, the best way to make money is through TP if you know what you’re doing. (I however, do not; I tried it and made probably 8g flipping things and looking at the screen for 2 hours. Definitely not my idea of fun)

If not, then the best way is to probably do dungeons with Meta events like Shatterer in between

I still think it’s too profitable for the ones that know how to work the system. I consider myself knowledgeable in dungeons, and it won’t earn me nearly as much. For WvW players that really know their stuff, their income is like a cheap change for TP flippers.

Best way I ever found to make gold, Queen’s Jubilee. Oh, but that’s over.

Thank for your replies (even to the troll ones).
Thing is, I want to earn the money in a “legit” way. With that I mean:
_no TP flipping (although I have quite some stacks I am planning to resell at a high price)
_no gems

So, basically I end up with a few ways:
_Dungeoning
_Champ Farming
_WvW
_Meta Events
_Node gathering/selling

Before the nerf, champ farming neat me around 10gold per hour (considering both the silver I got from each bag, and the materials I got), and I could do that every time of the day. But now it got nerfed, and gives me half as much I think.

Dungeoning, I like that and I am eager to learn the other fast paths I have never done before, I heard they give quite the amount of gold.

WvWing is out of the question, and does not provide enough gold to cover my needs. I get 1gold per hour when raiding with my guild, and only during raids.

Meta events: what are your thoughts about them?

Node gathering: it could be fun (I can easily gather them with my Ele or Thief). From my previous research, I earned the equivalent of 5-6 gold per hour (assuming Ancient Wood price at 6s and Ori at 5.5s).

Any other opinions?

SE – 1
CM – 3 paths
HotW – 1
CoE – 3 paths
TA – UP

or any combination of those. ~20 gold per night. More if you have dungeon recipes.

Ommu is right, especially if you had a few level 80 alts.
assuming you have 4 level 80 characters that means you can gather 144 ancient logs per day at about 6s each thats nearly 9 gold right there. And once you learn the route you can gather it in 30mins to 1hr

Amen. That is a very fast way to make gold.

Gathering Ori/Ancient wood using gw2nodes.com will net you some easy/fast gold. Usually at least ~8 gold an hour. You can mine these on every level 80 toon you have. Usually takes about 20-30 minutes per toon for a full run.

Dungeons yield some easy gold. Can make ~5 gold an hour easy by running 4-5 easy dungeon paths. Plus the tokens to buy rares for ectos or exotics for the MF.

Fast/Easy dungeon paths include AC 1/3, CM 1/3, SE 1/3, COF 1/2, COE 1/2/3, HOTW 1, TA U/F

Champ farming is still profitable. Frostgorge is still a pretty good farm for this.

Step 1. Get a gold bar and some tungsten
Step 2. Drill hole in gold bar, fill with tungsten.
Step 3. Melt and re-cast the drilled out gold into another bar. Use some to cover the drill hole on the original bar. You now have 2 gold bars!

On topic: Going for a swim off of southsun in skelk and barracuda infested waters is quite profitable. t6 and t5 scales and blood rain down.

It takes skills and time to “sit” in LA. They ain’t doing nothing. Full bag of items takes quite a bit of time to sell, believe it or not.

Also, it is very easy to lose money if you don’t know what you’re doing. One day, a friend told me he earned a few golds flipping ectos. Knowing there isn’t much profit margin from ecto, I asked him the price he paid and sell. Turns out he forgot there’s a 15% fee and in fact he lost a few golds doing the so-called “flipping”.

On my server there’s a world boss train every night at reset. Runs for about 2 hours and I make approx 15g with salvage and sell (I have 125% MF plus I party up plus use omnom bars, and my guild usually pops some good banners). I still run the FGS champ train, though that’s pretty much dead on my server so I guest to a high pop server like Dragonbrand. If you enjoy dungeons, keep doing those. WvW is not great for gold but is good if you want karma and badges.

If you go the FGS champ train, I highly suggest you tag everything on your way to the champs. Some of my best drops are from the quags and trolls around and on the way to the champs. You can aggro them to come to the champ and beat up everyone at once

I really suggest world bosses as another option other than dungeon/FGS.

The gold nerf was not big enough to affect the most profitable part of champ farming in Frostgorge. It is still the most constantly farmable task.

A great investment, but a risky one is dyes. Start out with a couple of
Gold and then buy some unidentified dye. If you get lucky you will get something like a 16 gold dye color. It’s like a higher chance gambling strategy.

First off, nice necro thread.

Secondly, gambling on unidentified dyes is a terrible way to try and earn gold. There are much easier and safer ways to get gold very fast without gambling.

The best way i fount to make gold was to create a female character and type /dance
