I was devastated when I logged in yesterday and discovered that I had the same tacky projectile for all of six different projectile attacks over all four attunements. This shows a colossal lack of effort and forethought by ArenaNet.

As it is, I can’t use Bifrost. I would rather have the Exotic stats than see the Legendary I worked so hard for completely ruined. I’ve contacted support suggesting solutions, and failing that, asking them to unbind the Bifrost from my Elementalist. I figure that if we can get some decent suggestions and support for Bifrost being fixed then it’s more likely that we’ll get a happy result. I know I’m not the only annoyed Elementalist!

A few suggestions:

1) Allow owners of Bifrost to choose between Bifrost and Bifrost 2.0, the former lacking the projectile effects. This will take approximately 5 seconds to implement, and will keep everyone happy, both people who like the new projectiles and people who don’t.

2) Remove the terrible Dreamer projectiles altogether and put a rainbow aura around the projectiles. This would require a bit of work because different projectiles would need to have the effect implemented differently. Remember, projectiles and their trails are important for the whole look of Elementalist!

3) Add an option in the stat selection panel for the Legendary which lets you turn projectile effects on or off. (This could be extended to enable people to toggle things like footfalls as well.)

Adding check boxes so people can turn certain effects on/off for their legendarys would actually be awesome and a solid step towards the unachievable goal of pleasing everyone. I really hope they consider doing this.

It would be better if elemental projectile models and textures would remain same as normal, and the projectiles would just have a rainbow trail.

I wish it was possible to turn off footstep effects.

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

I agree, Bifrost’s projectiles are badly done. They are cheap knock-offs of the Dreamer ones, and are over-used on the elementalist. Whatever attunement they are in, the same projectiles are used. They are tacky and look terrible compared to the default projectiles.
There should be an option to not show these projectiles. Or they should be removed altogether.
They were a bad addition; Bifrost was perfect before.

I hate it when people say this. Unless you have worked with their engine before, you have no idea how easy/hard it would be to implement.

I agree with most of the posts on this thread. What would make me happy would be to have our attunement trail that fades into a rainbow rather than one or the other.

With the dreamer getting a copy of our footfalls and the lack of an update to our existing ones, I have to say I was a little disappointed on Anet’s promises.

I’ve transmuted one of my old stakitten on top of Bifrost for now, it lets me get the ascended stats and the legendary stat-switching without the terrible projectile. But this is only a temporary fix because I want the staff I worked for.

Leashe – the Dreamer footfalls copying Bifrost REALLY annoyed me when I noticed it earlier, too.

Archmage – I had it for about two weeks. I know how you feel

I’ve tried to alert GW2 support to this thread through my support ticket (which received the cheery copy-paste response “why not post on the suggestions forum?”).

I made a thread yesterday but it got buried and this thread has more replies so I’ll post my original thoughts here:

I main elementalist and use staff. I loved the visual of projectile attunements on the number 1 skill which have all been replaced when using my bifrost.
This RUINS bifrost for me. My options are to transmute or deal with new ascending crafting system. All that work for …. for what? We can change the stat combo’s how about turning off the new projectile effects? Please. I want to be an elementalist with elemental spells not rainbow spells.

Just like they allow Legendaries to swap stats on the fly for more customization considering it’s a friggin Legendary, they should allow more customization of the graphical parts of it.

I personally like it the way it is currently over the gazillion fireballs I’ve chucked and especially love the bouncing rainbow chain lightning. It makes Gust and Shock-wave pretty much identical to the auto-attacks and thus impossible to dodge.

This^

I like that the rainbow hides the attack until it hits. I only wish the projectile was a bit bigger, I got accustomed to chucking huge fireballs but the rainbow is only as big as water or stoning’s projectiles.

Also, I wish when we attack with no target in home cities that the projectile arc was still visible to show off. I can only show it off if I stand on a ledge…

It’s actively bad for people to be able to hide an attack telegraph in WvW.

No, you see it coming just fine for dodging purposes but you can’t predict if it will cause a condition or which condition or what other skills will follow. A lot of people complain about ele telegraphing too much just by virtue of the attunement icon on our buff bar, this is a minor alleviation to those concerns, especially paired with lingering elements.

I felt exactly the same Qualx and i agree with you and Zelse completely. I have made a similar topic in crafting section of the forum before. I really hope that Anet will do something about it since the projectile change is really a downgrade. I wouldn’t mind having old projectiles with different animations like it was before. It would be the best for eles imo.
